Previously the best leveling method for a necromancer was to start with a basic blood surge build then convert into a bone spear roughly as you push into world tier 3 or even 4 because blood surge requires next to nothing to work very effectively while bone spear was better as a build long term, but with the massive changes to minions though things have change for us. Minion builds are looking to be the strongest for a necromancer in season 4 with high potential to be strongest build of the season overall.
Why are minions so much better ? There are many reasons but one of the main ones is that minions are now finally scaling from your stats at a full 100% rate compared to just 30% of the past. Minions are not perfectly they’re still going to be irritating in their awkward lacking AI, you still cant directly control them meaning they’re going to spread damage randomly but thanks to their new output being so good it actually outweighs the negative aspects of Diablo 4 AI.
Importantly the season 4 journey is focused on minion builds this time, they obviously want us to play them so we’re going to get some fantastic aspects for these builds by doing the season journey which results in the smoothest progression from leveling to a functional endgame build which is even more reason to go this route.
Just as before you’re going to start with a blood surge build being the core. Blood surge still requires nothing to work extremely effectively with easy ways to overcome the essence cost of build, however with things being changed we’ll be using a minion based version of that and then swap into full minions rather than bone spear pretty quickly. I would say that this will be done when you roughly enter world tier 3 with this necro leveling build diablo 4.
Skeletal Warriors (Skirmisher)
You can raise one additional Skirmisher Warrior. When you’re still leveling your blood surge i would recommend skirmishers as always an extra skirmisher just means extra DPS.
Skeletal Mages (Cold)
Each time your Cold Mages damage enemies with their primary attack, you gain 2 Essence. Obviously cold it means you’re just generating essence passively helping get more blood surges out.
Golems (Blood)
While Healthe, your Blood Golem gains 25% Damage Reduction and 50% increased damage. As you hit golem we’re probably going to go blood either way just because of upgrading to being so good, but again by the time you get golem it’s time to convert and swap build.
If you’re wondering during this leveling process the aspects aren’t going to matter massively, but some of them will make the leveling process much easier for you, here are some of them:
Aspect | Description |
---|---|
Aspect of Frenzied Dead (amulet) | Each time one of your Summoning Minions damages an enemy, they gain [10-14]%[+] Attack Speed for 3 seconds, up to [30-42]%[+] This is one of the most important aspects in the build, which can stay with you in the late game if you go into the build through minions, it gives a lot of DPS and increases your leveling significantly |
Aspect of Grasping Veins Aspect of Reanimation (rings) | Gain [10-20]%[+] increased Critical Strike Chance for 6 seconds when you cast Corpse Tendrils. You deal [20-40]% [x] bonus Critical Strike Damage to enemies damaged by Corpse Tendrils Your Skeletons gain increased damage while alive, up to [30-40]%[x] after 10 seconds Two useful aspects for the build, which will also increase the speed of leveling up your character and will definitely not be superfluous |
Blood-bathed Aspect (gloves) | Blood Surge’s nova echoes again after a short delay, dealing [60-50%] less damage Obviously this is going to be thing that you’re looking for meaning your blood surges are going to get a little bit more DPS out of them but it’s not important and we’re going to change build anyway |
In Diablo 4, you can level up through several activities: completing the Campaign, collecting Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, participating in Helltide activities, grinding Dungeons, or engaging with Seasonal mechanics. However, not all leveling methods are equally efficient.
For your first character, completing the Campaign offers the best gameplay experience and unlocks essential features like your Mount. If you don’t have your Mount, you must progress through the Campaign until you complete the quest “Donan’s Favor” at the start of Act 4. Once you have your Mount, you can skip the rest of the Campaign if you choose. Although the Campaign is the slowest way to level up, experiencing the storyline is worthwhile at least once. Note that to play Seasonal Content, you must have completed or skipped the Campaign.
Here are some tips and tricks to keep in mind while leveling up:
By following these tips and methods, you can optimize your leveling process and enjoy the rich content Diablo 4 has to offer.
Once you reach world level 4, you can move on to any other main build you want, it can be convert to Full minion build or Bone spear or something else that you like best, you should direct all your efforts to find the aspects necessary for your build and take a closer look at the characteristics in the things you collect. This should see you happily into world tier 4 dominating, ready to begin the endgame process and transferring build to a true endgame one when we get there, i hope this necro leveling build diablo 4 has helped you.
