The Herbalism profession in WoW Cataclysm Classic is a gathering profession that allows characters to collect herbs, commonly paired with Alchemy. This guide covers how to get started in Herbalism, new herbs in Cataclysm Classic, how to level from 1-525, best secondary professions, and best races.

About Herbalism In WoW Cataclysm Classic

The skill cap for Herbalism is raised to 525.

There are several major quality-of-life changes for Herbalism in Cataclysm Classic:

Experience from Herbalism Nodes: Herbalism nodes now give experience. You get more experience when herbing in areas appropriate to your level. If you’re much higher level than the flowers you’re picking, you’ll still get experience, but it’ll be a very small amount (22 XP for picking Peacebloom at level 80).
Simultaneous Tracking: You can now track Herbalism nodes and herb nodes simultaneously. Go under the Tracking button on your minimap, select Tracking, and both Find Herbs and Find Minerals. Being a dual gatherer has never been easier!
Updated Profession Ability: Lifeblood – Uses your skill in Herbalism to absorb energy and nutrients from the earth, instantly healing minor wounds and granting 480 haste rating for 20 sec. Can be used while stealthed or invisible.
No Rare Herbs: There are no rare herbs in Cataclysm-era Herbalism such as Frost Lotus.
Unified Trainers: There are no longer separate trainers for Journeyman, Artisan, etc.; all skill-specific trainers can teach recipes through 525.
Generalized Profession Trainers: Generalized Profession Trainers have been added to all 1-10 zones. They teach the basic skills of all manufacturing and gathering professions, but not Secondary Skills such as Cooking.

New Herbalism Items In Cataclysm Classic

Cataclysm Classic adds several new herbs to the game, which are found in specific zones:

Azshara’s Veil: Mount Hyjal, Vashj’ir, and Tol Barad Peninsula.
Cinderbloom: All Cataclysm zones including Tol Barad Peninsula.
Heartblossom: Deepholm.
Stormvine: Mount Hyjal and Vashj’ir.
Twilight Jasmine: Twilight Highlands.
Whiptail: Uldum and Tol Barad.

Herbalism Leveling Guide 1-525 Cataclysm Classic

Players level Herbalism by picking herbs in the open world. Having the new Flight Master’s License that allows you to fly in Azeroth and all new Cataclysm zones shortcuts this process enormously, particularly for Druids, since they don’t even need to leave Flight Form to harvest herbs.

You can also earn +5 Herbalism once a month when Darkmoon Faire is open through the quest Herbs for Healing from Chronos. You will need at least Herbalism (75) to see the quest.

1 – 70

For the first 70 points, you can go to any starter zone. The differences between them are minimal.

Herbs in these zones: Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot.

Tirisfal Glades
Elwynn Forest

70 – 150

Herbs in these zones: Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Bruiseweed.

Learn Herbalism Journeyman, then head to Hillsbrad Foothills. It’s a Horde-only zone, which might be challenging for Alliance players. For low-level Alliance players, Darkshore is recommended.

Hillsbrad Foothills

Between 70-125, follow the yellow lines. When you reach 125, you can enter the orange circle and gather Frozen Herbs.
Horde players can stay in this zone up to 160 or even longer, as there is a Herbalism trainer in Tarren Mill. Staying until 160 ensures you can gather Khadgar’s Whisker in the next zones.

Darkshore

The last few points between 130 and 150 will come a bit slowly.

150 – 230

Visit your trainer and learn Herbalism Expert.

Herbs in these zones: Kingsblood, Liferoot, Fadeleaf, Goldthorn (Feralas only), Khadgar’s Whisker.

You won’t be able to gather Khadgar’s Whisker until you reach 160, and all herbs will be green for the last 10-20 points. You will have to visit your trainer again between 200 and 225.

Western Plaguelands

230 – 285

You will gather the following herb: Sungrass.

The most common herb in both zones below will be Sungrass. Thousand Needles is recommended due to its easy layout, where you can’t miss the herbs.

If you don’t have a flying mount, turn back at the end of the yellow line and run back to the starting point. Swim to Twilight Bulwark or Twilight Withering to reach the herbs.

Eastern Plaguelands

285 – 325

Herbs in these zones: Sungrass, Gromsblood, Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage.

Swamp of Sorrows

The whole zone is filled with herbs. You can stay in Swamp of Sorrows until 350 if you don’t need herbs for Alchemy, but Outland herbs usually sell for more.

Felwood

325 – 350

Visit your trainer and learn Herbalism Master.

You will gather the following herbs: Felweed, Dreaming Glory, Terocone.

Terokkar Forest

350 – 400

Visit your trainer and learn Herbalism Grand Master.

Tiger Lily requires Herbalism 375, so you won’t be able to pick it yet.

Grizzly Hills

If you don’t have a flying mount, skip the parts around Utgarde Keep in the middle.

400 – 425

The most common herb in Sholazar Basin is Adder’s Tongue, but you will also find some Goldclover and Tiger Lily.

Visit your trainer and learn the new Cataclysm Classic Herbalism skill.

You will gather Cinderbloom.

Mount Hyjal

475 – 500

You should go to Deepholm and gather Heartblossom, or you can stay in Mount Hyjal until you reach 500.

You will gather Whiptail.

Uldum

Herbalism Routes For Farming Twilight Jasmine In Cataclysm Classic

Twilight Jasmine is a herb exclusive to Twilight Highlands and requires a Herbalism skill of 525 to gather. There are three main routes for farming Twilight Jasmine, depending on whether you have Herbalism as your second profession and the level of competition in the zone.

No Herbalism Route

Follow this route if:

You do not have Herbalism as your other profession or you only care about farming Twilight Jasmine.
There is little to no competition in the zone currently for node spawns.

Mining And Herbalism Route

Follow this route if:

You have Herbalism as your other profession and wish to farm Elementium Ore and Pyrite Ore while gathering Twilight Jasmine.

High-Competition Herbalism Route

Follow this route if:

There is a high level of competition in the zone for gathering nodes.
