ToFW Raid Cata Guide

The Throne of the Four Winds is a floating structure with five distinct platforms. Upon arrival, you will find yourself on a central platform surrounded by four others, each hosting a different enemy. The central platform is initially empty.

  • Rohash: Located to the East.
  • Anshal: Located to the West.
  • Nezir Located to the North.

These bosses, along with their companion pets, must be defeated before you can face the final boss, Al’Akir, who will appear on the central circular platform.

Key Features And Strategy

  • Mount Usage: You can use mounts within the Throne, and falling from a platform is not fatal. Strong winds will push you back to the platform you fell from.
  • Wind Bridges: These bridges connect the platforms, allowing strategic maneuvering and attacks against each enemy.
  • Conclave of Wind: After defeating Rohash, Anshal, and Nezir, a concentrated wind current will appear in the middle of their platforms. Use this wind to move forward and confront Al’Akir in the final battle.

Final Battle With Al’Akir

  • Central Platform Collapse: Upon defeating Al’Akir, the central platform will collapse. However, the winds will lift you up, allowing you to move in any direction.
  • Collecting Rewards: Ascend to the flashing blue gem to collect your well-earned rewards.

ToFW Bosses Cataclysm

The Throne of the Four Winds raid features two formidable boss encounters: the Conclave of Wind and Al’Akir. Below, you can explore tactics and strategies to successfully defeat these challenging adversaries.

Conclave of Wind

The Conclave of Wind faces a power struggle following Siamat’s imprisonment by the Neferset tol’vir. Al’Akir’s lieutenants now compete to fill the void:

  • Anshal, Lord of the West Wind, uses his gales to heal allies and poison enemies.
  • Rohash, Lord of the East Wind, wields tempests capable of destroying mountains.
  • Nezir, Lord of the North Wind, commands icy storms that have taken countless lives, surpassing all other wind lords combined in lethality.
Al’Akir

Al’Akir, known for his intelligence and strategic prowess, was a key tactician in the armies of the Old Gods. After the Cataclysm, he allied with Deathwing, using his immense powers against the tol’vir, ancient enemies of the air elementals.

Okay, now you know who you have to fight against, let’s move on to analyzing strategies.

Conclave Of Wind

TotFWCouncil

The Conclave of Wind encounter features three mini-bosses: Anshal, Nezir, and Rohash, each occupying their own platform in the center of the arena. To succeed, your raid team must employ specific strategies for each platform.

Platform 1: Anshal

Anshal’s primary abilities involve summoning adds and using a cooldown ability called Soothing Breeze, which stuns players within its range.

Here’s the strategy to defeat Anshal:

  • Engage Setup: One tank, one healer, and three DPS.
  • Handling Adds: Quickly AoE down the adds to prevent them from receiving healing effects.
  • Avoiding Silences: Do not stand in the green swirling circles to avoid being silenced.

Platform 2: Nezir

Nezir is a perilous foe due to his stacking debuff and damaging skills.

Here’s the strategy to defeat Nezir:

  • Engage Setup: One tank and one healer.
  • Stacking Debuff: Nezir’s Wind Chill debuff increases the damage taken by the target.
  • Ice Patches: Nezir can use slowing Ice Patches.
  • Position Swaps: The tank and healer need to swap positions periodically to manage the debuff effectively.

Platform 3: Rohash

Rohash’s abilities are less complex, making him easier to defeat.

Here’s how to conquer Rohash:

  • Engage Setup: Two DPS and one healer.
  • Avoiding Knockbacks: Watch out for wind attacks like Tornado and Wind Blast, which can push players off the platform.
  • Wind Blast: Be cautious of the Wind Blast casting animation to avoid being knocked off.

Key Mechanics

Each boss has a yellow bar below their health bar that gradually fills up. When the bar reaches 90 percent, each boss uses a special ability:

  • Anshal: Healing ability.
  • Rohash: Summons Hurricane.
  • Nezir: Casts a damaging Sleet Storm.

Execution

At around 80 to 90 percent on the yellow bar, execute the platform-switching strategy:

  • Anshal to Nezir: Players from Anshal’s platform move to Nezir’s platform.
  • Nezir to Anshal: The tank and healer from Nezir’s platform move to Anshal’s platform.
  • Rohash to Nezir: DPS from Rohash’s platform jumps to Nezir’s platform.

Quick Takes In Strategy:

  • Positioning: Coordinate with your team to manage the three elemental platforms effectively.
  • Priority Targets: Focus on interrupting crucial abilities and managing adds efficiently.
  • Phase Management: Pay close attention to the phases and adapt your strategy accordingly.

Continue switching platforms and rotating tanks as needed until all bosses are defeated.

This strategy emphasizes maximizing damage output while effectively managing mechanics. Coordinated execution and vigilant awareness of mechanics are crucial for overcoming the Conclave of Wind encounter.

Al’Akir

AlAkirPic1

Al’Akir, the final boss in the Throne of the Four Winds, poses one of the game’s most formidable challenges due to the potential for a complete raid wipe with a single error. Let’s delve into the strategies for defeating Al’Akir:

Phase 1

This phase is chaotic and necessitates constant movement to avoid various damaging abilities. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Ice Storms: Avoid these, as they spawn blizzards that deal continuous damage.
  • Electrocute: Particularly dangerous for melee players, this ability interrupts spells and inflicts damage.
  • Lightning Strikes: Dodge these powerful cone attacks.
  • Wind Burst: This move pushes players backward and deals damage.
  • Squall Lines: These create tornadoes, adding to the challenge of the encounter.

Phase 2

While less frantic than Phase 1, this phase introduces new mechanics that require careful coordination.

Here’s how to handle it:

  • Acid Rain: This ability stacks up, increasing in damage over time. Focus on killing Stormlings to reduce the damage taken from Al’Akir.
  • Squall Line: Avoid using this to minimize the effects of Acid Rain.
  • Debuff Stacking: Stack debuffs on Al’Akir to maximize the effectiveness of cooldowns used by the raid when killing Stormlings.

Phase 3

In this phase, players must float through the air, dodge numerous abilities, and manage limited space effectively.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Movement Points: Players gain more movement points but lose them when stepping on a Lightning Cloud tile, which inflicts significant damage.
  • Maintain Movement: Avoid Lightning Clouds while ensuring maximum DPS on Al’Akir.
  • Awareness: Stay alert for lightning strikes and other mechanics, responding quickly.

Key Strategies

  • Spacing: Properly space structures to reduce the effects of Lightning Strike and Electrocute.
  • Stack Stormling: Focus on stacking Stormlings to deal more damage to Al’Akir during Phase 2.
  • Synchronized Movement: Coordinate movements to avoid environmental hazards such as Squall Line and Lightning Cloud.
  • Survival and DPS: Prioritize staying alive while maximizing damage output.

Advanced Tactics

  • Phase 3 Stormling: Consider keeping a Stormling alive for extra damage and potential achievements.
  • Optimal Positioning: Move and position yourself to allow for maximum DPS and survivability.

Quick takes in strategy:

  • Movement: Utilize precise positioning to avoid environmental hazards.
  • Coordination: Communicate and synchronize cooldowns for optimal damage output and survivability.
  • Phase Adaptation: Adjust tactics as Al’Akir transitions through different phases, each presenting unique challenges.

Al’Akir’s fight demands good coordination, rapid reactions, and precise execution. If your raid team understands each phase and employs the right tactics, this boss can be conquered. Stay focused, communicate effectively, and be prepared for any changes.
