Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris.

Trials of Osiris Destiny 2 is one of the unique limited PvP activities that came to this game from the first part of the franchise. They start at 9 a.m. PST on Friday and finish at the same time on Tuesday. Saint-14 uses this difficult challenge to prepare Guardians for what they may endure in the coming battles, so let’s get to know what the Trials of Osiris Destiny game offers to us.
Technically, the Trials are 3v3 PvP fights that take place on a particular map that changes every week. The rotation ensures Guardians will not get used to the certain map too much and will explore new tactics. The objective mode for the Trials is called Dominion and implies two teams fighting for the objective in the middle of the map with each member having just one life. Victory means either fulfilling the objective first or eliminating everyone in the enemy’s team.
But, of course, the loveliest part of this activity is the Trials of Osiris rewards. They are diverse and change every week as well. The best items, however, you can receive if you become Flawless. It means you won 7 matches in a row without a single loss. Pretty tough, of course, but you may get our Flawless Trials Carries and receive Adept weapons and Trials of Osiris armor. The special conditions of your Trials (as well as Rewards), however, depend on the Trials Passage you use.

How To Unlock Trials of Osiris?

To unlock the Trials of Osiris, you should first fulfill certain requirements. You need to have the latest expansion of the game, have the Trials Access quest completed, and buy a Passage from Saint-14 during the Trials event.
The most difficult part (but pretty crucial for the introduction of this activity) is the quest. It consists of two parts.
Participate in Competitive activities. You should complete your placement series, get 50 kills in Competetive, and get the season’s soft cap of the Power level.
Play at least one match in the Trials with getting at least one victory and one kill.
After the quest is completed, you are free to buy a Passage and do your Trials. Please, keep in mind that it is possible to play solo, with a friend, or in the full group.

Destiny 2 Trials Passage.

Trials Passage in Destiny 2 is a special ticket you can buy from Saint-14. They apply a special effect to your Trials run and track the number of losses and wins for you. Fulfilling certain conditions allows you to buy passages with better effects regarding your rewards. Have a look at the table below.

PassageConditionsSpecial Effect
MercyNoOne loss per run is not counted. The second loss is not counted too if you have not become Flawless this week.
FerocityNoThird victory grants a bonus victory.
Wealth7 WinsMore Trials Rank points if you win 3,5, and 7 victories on the Passage.
ConfidenceYou became FlawlessFlawless chest grants additional rewards.

The basic passage (Passage of Mercy) is useful for novices who want to reach Flawless fast and receive the Adept gear. Every seven wins on a Passage grant you additional loot, and the Passage itself tracks up to 20 rounds. That means every 20 rounds you need to buy a different Passage, and you cannot activate more than one Passage at a time.

Trials of Osiris Maps.

Each week there is a different map from the rotation available for players to battle each other. The variety of maps is diverse and directed at testing your skill and knowledge of tactics. However, worth knowing that some maps are more pleasant for fighting than others, so have a look at our tier table of maps before you decide if Trials this week are worth a shot.

TierMaps
SThe Burnout, Cauldron
AJavelin-4, Altar of Flame, Endless Veil
BWormhaven, The Anomaly, Rusted Lands, Bannerfall ,The Dead Cliffs
CPacifica, Exodus Blue, Widow’s Court
CFragment, Radiant Cliffs, Midtown
DShores of Time, Convergence

Why are some maps worse than others? Mostly because Trials of Osiris maps are those that were initially designed for other game modes, and some of them work much better with these modes than with Trials. The team’s spawn location, the landscape, places to hide or take over the initiative. All these elements and some others define whether Trials this week will be fun or not for you.

Trials of Osiris Matchmaking Pools.

In the past, there was a separate Flawless pool in Destiny 2, but at the moment there are only two pools, the Challenger and the Practice matchmaking pools. Here, we will explain in detail how they work, and how Flawless players are now being matched with someone of their skill.
Everyone starts in the Challenger pool which is divided by internet connection depending on region and by the size of the groups. For example, solo players from Europe will play with solo players from Europe, and not with groups of three from North America. However, after the first loss, the situation changes.
The first failed round makes your passage a Flawed Passage. It means you now cannot get the Flawless rewards available in the so-called Lighthouse. Players with the Flawed Passage still can receive all other rewards, though. These players are placed in the Practice Pool, so they are separated in matchmaking from those who are planning to become Flawless.
There is a possibility to return to the Challenger pool. If you want it, just reset the Passage using your Quests tab. The system is adjusted to be fair, so if you appear to be effective in the Practice pool, the game will switch you to the Challenger one. And, on the other hand, if your results are far from successful, you will get easier matches until things get better for you.

Trials of Osiris Rewards.

You can get unique weekly rewards, special rewards from Passages, items from Saint-14, and, of course, gear, and loot from the Lighthouse, a place that you can visit with the Flawless Passage. Let us briefly explain all types of these rewards. Here they are.

  • Engrams.
  • Trials Armor and Weapons.
  • Adept Weapons.
  • Points for Trials Ranks.
  • Pinnacle Gear.

Technically, the points are needed to get other gear, but this currency is the primary reward you get for victories and filling your Passage. Trials Ranks bring you new engrams and access to the powerful Trials gear. Also, when you reach the highest rank, you can start over again from the first one with a new pool of rewards.
However, the track of rewards changes randomly every week. Here are a few examples of what you may get for the ranks.

  • Enhancement Prisms.
  • Exotic Engram.
  • Trials Weapon.
  • Upgrade Modules.

Also, note that the most powerful rewards are obtained through becoming Flawless. Then you can get the Ascendant Shard, unique Adept Weapons, Adept Mods, and various cosmetic rewards.
Becoming Flawless also gives an additional bright glow to your Trials weapons and armor. It is a great way to show others the evidence of your skill and mastery. However, the glow will fade away with time after disappearing completely in two weeks. To regain the glow, just become Flawless again! A challenge indeed, right?
And, sure, don’t forget about the Pinnacle gear. Each week you can complete so-called weekly challenges that will grant you a piece of Trials Pinnacle gear. These challenges are to win 50 rounds and win 7 matches in a single week. It is worth noting you can do these challenges regardless of in which matchmaking pool you are competing at the moment.

The Lighthouse.

Becoming Flawless grants you access to the Lighthouse. There you can get the best rewards for the Trials if you have fulfilled certain conditions. For players, the Trials of Osiris Lighthouse is the source of the desired Adepts Trials weapons. However, keep in mind that each week the weapon you may get is different, so carefully check it before your runs. Here are the rewards you can get at the Lighthouse.

  • Rewards.
  • Requirements.
  • Adept Mods.
  • Only the first Flawless run this week.
  • Adept Trials Weapons.
  • Guaranteed for the first Flawless run.
  • Cosmetic Rewards.

For the first Flawless run, you can get a Flawless glow on your gear.
Subsequent runs can grant you a Trials Memento. They give liquid gold shaders to the crafted weapons.

Also, worth noting that you can get Adept Trials Weapons as the reward at the end of the match. It becomes possible if you become Flawless this week. Therefore, even if your passage got Flawed after you received the Flawless status (you got 0-7, but then lost a match), you can still get an Adept weapon at the end of the subsequent matches you will win.

Trials Report.

There is a useful website called Destiny Trials Report where you can find out excessive statistics about which weapons are used by players the most this week, what are the rewards, the map, and other details about the Trials.
Knowing statistics about weapon usage and class (subclass) popularity gives you a huge advantage if you plan to get the best rewards in the Trials. However, everything depends on your skill, team composition, and coordination.
