King’s Fall Raid
After players complete the campaign of The Taken King expansion, they can venture into the depths of the Dreadnaught and face the mighty Oryx, the Taken King along with four other challenging encounters. If you are planning to get into the raid to get King’s Fall raid weapons or other loot, you should first find out a few important details about this activity.
First, to get King’s Fall Exotic weapon or armor pieces from the raid, you need to have The Taken King expansion. Also, it is recommended that you gather a party of 6 Guardians and have a 1810 power level. Another important fact you should keep in mind is the raid mechanic.
The primary mechanic you should master in King’s Fall involves all party members transferring a Brand buff by standing on Annihilator Totems while killing enemies and avoiding the Deathsinger’s Power debuff. Players get the Brand buff after killing a Wizard and a Blightguard in the middle of the arena, and continue to pass it to each other after reaching the totems. This mechanic is required to progress through the raid and enter at least 2 out of 5 raid encounters.
KF Encounters
There are five encounters that Guardians have to overcome in order to succeed in the raid. As we have mentioned before, for some of them, you are required to implement the Brand mechanic, but overall, these encounters are full of puzzles and platforming, just like other Destiny 2 raids. Here is a list of them, and below you can find the brief description of each.
Basilica Warpriest Golgoroth Daughters of Oryx Oryx, the Taken King
Basilica
Transfer the Brand and Deal with the Hive. The first major encounter of KF is Basilica, and it directly demands players to split their efforts and choose a Brand Claimer or Brand Claimers who will deal with the mechanic. Others should deal with the Hive enemies and Knights. Knights are spawned by killing two Acolytes, and the main idea behind dealing with these enemies is to extend the timer which, if expires, wipe the raid. Brand Claimers should transfer enough Brands through the mechanic until the timer runs out. After this encounter, you can find the first King’s Fall hidden chest. We will talk about them later.
Warpriest
Solve the Glyph Sequence and Damage the Boss. Warpriest is the second encounter of the raid and the first one that includes a fight with a major boss, Warpriest, the High Priest of Oryx. Here, players will face a complex puzzle that requires them to activate three pillars with the right sequence by standing on plates and killing enemies. After a few cycles of puzzle-solving, Warpriest will become vulnerable, and defeating him will grant players access to the next encounter and a loot chest.
Golgoroth
Shoot the Orbs and Damage the Boss. Golgoroth is the third encounter in the raid and the second one that involves a fight with a major boss, Golgoroth, the Breaker of Will. Here, players will face a tricky challenge that requires them to shoot six orbs hanging from the ceiling and lure the boss to gaze at them. This will create a pool of light that boosts the damage of the players standing in it. After a few cycles of shooting orbs and damaging the boss, Golgoroth will be defeated and drop a loot chest.
Daughters of Oryx
Jump on the Platforms and Damage the Bosses. Daughters of Oryx is the fourth encounter in the raid and the third one that features a fight with two major bosses, Ir Anûk and Ir Halak, the Weaver and the Unraveler. Here, players will face a difficult platforming section that requires them to jump on floating platforms and reach a relic. One player will be randomly chosen as the Runner, who will have to grab the relic and slam it on one of the bosses. This will remove their shield and allow the team to damage them. After two cycles of jumping and damaging, both Daughters of Oryx will be slain and drop a loot chest.
Oryx, the Taken King
Detonate the Bombs and Damage the Boss. Oryx, the Taken King is the final encounter in the raid and the ultimate challenge that awaits the Guardians. Here, players will face a similar platforming section as in the previous encounter, but with more twists and turns. One player will be randomly chosen as the Runner, who will have to grab the relic and slam it on Oryx’s chest. This will stun him and allow the team to shoot him. Meanwhile, four players will have to stand on plates and spawn bombs that will detonate after a few seconds. The team will have to coordinate to detonate the bombs at the same time and deal massive damage to Oryx. After a few cycles of platforming, detonating, and shooting, Oryx will be defeated and drop the final loot chest.
KF Exotic Weapon
The best and coolest weapon you can get from the raid is the exotic weapon, and for King’s Fall, it is the Touch of Malice scout rifle. This weapon has a unique perk that allows it to fire indefinitely as long as you have health, making it a powerful weapon for boss damage. However, it also drains your health with each shot, so you have to be careful not to kill yourself. You can get this weapon by completing a quest that requires you to collect 45 Calcified Fragments and defeat Oryx in the raid.
