WoW Classic Season of Discovery – November 30

Introducing the upcoming season of Vanilla Classic, the Season of Discovery! Unveiled at BlizzCon, this exciting season is set to launch on November 30th, skipping the public testing phase.

Expect significant game enhancements in this season, featuring novel roles like the mage healer, revised progression, a raised level cap of 25, and a thrilling new 10-player raid, Blackfathom Deeps.

Season of Discovery – What’s Changing

At Level 1, everything remains the same, but once you hit Level 2, the introduction of “Runes” brings about significant changes. The leveling experience will now involve “Discoveries,” acting as new quests, with no beta or PTR, emphasizing social deduction. These Discoveries are seamlessly integrated into Azeroth’s Vanilla setting.

Content will be phased by level, gradually increasing the cap over weeks. All encounters have been meticulously designed from scratch, and new loot will be introduced to dungeons. Outdoor PvP events are planned as the level cap rises, with potential future content incorporating unused or unfinished Vanilla elements.

Rune Engraving

A novel skill, Rune Engraving, will be universally acquired by all characters. These runes function similarly to enchants, enhancing chest, legs, and hands slots, scaling with the level cap. Permanently learned, runes can be freely slotted into gear, independent of talents. Shaman and Paladin buffs will cater to the opposite spec, and respect costs, especially at lower levels, will be reduced. Dual Spec is on the horizon for the future.

Class Design Goal

The aim is to introduce new and unique spells under the Season of Discovery, with a focus on shaking up the meta while staying true to Classic.

New Spells

• Druid: Skull Bash gains an interrupt for Feral druids, and Resto receives Wild Growth.
• Hunter: Growl transforms into a taunt, and Lone Wolf is introduced to Discovery.
• Mages: Ice Lance, Living Flame, and regeneration bring healing capabilities.
• Paladin: Taunt, Crusader Strike, Seal of Martyrdom.
• Priest: Penance, Prayer of Mending, Homunculi creates three copies for melee attacks.
• Rogue: Shadowstrike, Envenom, Just a Flesh Wound enables tanking.
• Shaman: Lava Lash, Dual Wield, Healing Rain, Way of Earth allows tanking.
• Warlock: Haunt, Chaos Bolt, Metamorphosis.
• Warrior: Victory Rush, Devastate, Raging Blow.

Ashenvale PvP Event

A zone-wide event triggers after a certain number of kills. Players aim to take down leaders of opposing factions, with spawned camps buffing the main leader. Top PvPers in Ashenvale earn a special mount.

Raids and PvP Endgame

Level-up Raids are introduced, with Blackfathom Deeps being the inaugural 10-player raid. The raid has a 3-day lockout, seven fully-reworked boss fights, updated quests, and loot. New secrets, including a world buff, enhance the raid experience.

Blackfathom Deeps Bosses:

• Baron Aquanis: Now a true boss with a jumping puzzle requirement.
• Ghamoo-ra: Break the barrier to attack the boss.
• Lady Sarevess: Guards protect her, turning her spells against her.
• Gelihast, Lorgus Jett, Twilight Lord Kelris, Aku’Mai: Other boss encounters remain secret until release.
