Destiny 2 Solstice 2025 is finally here, bringing the annual summer celebration back with major changes. Here’s everything you need to know about start and end times, new armor sets, weapons, and exclusive rewards.
If you’ve been playing Destiny 2 for a while, you know that the game features several seasonal events throughout the year. There’s The Dawning during winter holidays, Guardian Games arrives in spring with class-based competition, and Festival of the Lost celebrates Halloween. And of course, we have Solstice – the premier summer event that celebrates the Light.
Destiny 2’s Solstice of Heroes 2025 event begins on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and runs until Tuesday, August 19, 2025. That provides exactly two full weeks to collect new gear, upgrade armor pieces, and obtain all the exclusive cosmetics available. Guardians will need to act quickly to secure all the limited-time rewards, since the event is one week shorter compared to previous years.
This year’s Solstice event completely reimagines the traditional format. Bungie has moved away from the familiar Bonfire Bash activity, instead integrating Solstice 2025 directly with the Portal activity system from The Edge of Fate expansion.
Revolutionary Portal Activities Integration
Portal activities now feature four exciting Solar modifiers that rotate daily:
These modifiers rotate daily in matchmade activities, while custom difficulty allows players to choose combinations (except Hot Potato, which stays permanently active).
This year’s Solstice introduces two distinct armor collections featuring a sleek, ocean-inspired aesthetic with holographic design elements.
Lustrous Armor Sets
The primary Lustrous armor collection has the innovative Armor Set Bonus system from The Edge of Fate expansion. These sets provide powerful benefits:
All Lustrous armor sets are craftable for Solstice Alloy, the main event currency. You can use it to forge your new shiny armor or make the pieces glow even more with Incandescent Ingot.
Beach Paradise Eververse Collection
For Silver or Bright Dust (approximately 6,000 Bright Dust per set), players can acquire beach-themed cosmetic armor through Eververse.
Festival Flight Grenade Launcher
This Strand Area 72 RPM Denial Grenade Launcher has a Dream Work Origin Trait, which partially refills weapons from reserves and boosts reload speed upon assists.
Standout Perks:
Yeartide Apex Submachine Gun
The Solar Lightweight 900 RPM SMG with a 41-round magazine, also featuring the Dream Work Origin Trait.
Standout Perks:
Both weapons feature stunning ocean-inspired holofoil variants that showcase beautiful visual design.
PvP enthusiasts get a special treat with the Solstice Scorched Crucible playlist. This chaotic mode arms every Guardian with Scorch Cannons across Clash, Control, and Rift modes. The cannons can be charged after firing for additional area damage, creating opportunities for spectacular multi-eliminations.
Since there’s no dedicated Solstice activity, all progression occurs through Portal activities with Solar modifiers. Completing these grants event XP that advances the Solstice reward track, unlocking cosmetics and gear.
