The Edge of Fate expansion has unleashed an arsenal of legendary weapons that’s completely reshaping Destiny 2’s meta. After hundreds of hours testing every single weapon across raids, Crucible, GM Nightfalls, and seasonal content, we’ve ranked them all. Some weapons are absolute game-changers, others are solid workhorses, and a few… well, they look pretty in your vault.
Every new DLC drops a mountain of loot, and not all of it’s worth your vault space. So how do we separate the keepers from the dust collectors? We look at four things that actually matter when you’re out there grinding:

Edge of Fate delivers the most impactful weapon refresh Destiny 2 has seen in years. The introduction of rocket-assisted frames and spread-shot hand cannons creates entirely new playstyles, while refined versions of existing archetypes push the power ceiling higher.

God Tier (GT) – The Meta Shapers
Why it’s God Tier – this Strand rocket-assisted pulse rifle fundamentally changes how you approach ad-clear in PvE. Each burst fires micro-rockets that create area denial and crowd control on a level we’ve never seen from a primary weapon. It deals approximately 3x the damage of rocket sidearms while maintaining the versatility and handling characteristics of a pulse rifle.
The rocket-assisted frame fires micro-rockets instead of traditional bullets, creating explosive area-of-effect damage with every burst. Dense enemy spawns that would overwhelm traditional weapons become manageable with Mint Retrograde’s explosive output.
While rocket-assisted pulse rifles have lower ammo reserves than their sidearm counterparts, the enhanced Envious Arsenal + Chain Reaction combination provides +40 to ammo generation, effectively solving the archetype’s primary limitation while maintaining its devastating damage output.

Why it’s God Tier – this Arms Week-exclusive spread-shot hand cannon is breaking both PvE and PvP. Its shotgun-style burst at 100 RPM delivers absurd close-range damage while maintaining hand cannon handling. Phoneutria Fera has proven to be one of the most versatile and powerful primaries in Edge of Fate. The weapon’s unique firing pattern, combined with hand cannon damage per shot creates devastating area-of-effect potential.
The Tenacity Factor – what elevates Phoneutria Fera to God-Tier is its exclusive access to the Tenacity origin trait. This game-changing perk increases damage when getting final blows while surrounded and persists until death, creating a snowball effect that turns challenging encounters into a joyride. In high-density PvE content, this scaling can transform the weapon from good to godlike. Especially when it’s combined with Incandescent and Threat Remover.

The second Stasis aggressive frame machine gun proves that accessibility doesn’t mean compromise. Available through Kepler activities rather than raid completions, Ulterior Observation delivers the perfect balance of damage output, crowd control, and build synergy that makes aggressive frame MGs so appealing. The 600 RPM sweet spot provides excellent sustained damage while the Stasis element opens unique freezing strategies.
What Sets It Apart – The Exhaustive Research origin trait adds micro-missile functionality that’s both fun and functional, while perks like Headstone and Rimestealer create incredible Stasis build synergies. Unlike many heavy weapons that excel in one area, Ulterior Observation is genuinely versatile across all content types.
The Accessibility Advantage – being available through Kepler activities makes this one of the most obtainable heavy weapons in the expansion, yet it performs on par with raid exclusives when properly rolled.

S Tier – Elite Weapons
The Desert Perpetual raid’s flagship primary weapon is quietly revolutionizing the SMG meta. Antedate brings unique perk combinations that make it incredibly competitive in both PvE and PvP scenarios. The powerful Frame of Reference origin trait on it works great, granting you extra damage, reload speed, and range for final blows. Must have for PvP, and it serves as a perfect alternative to the famous The Immortal SMG.
God Roll: Rolling Storm + Jolting Feedback (PvE) // Rangefinder + Target Lock (PvP).
The Desert Perpetual raid delivers another winner with this rapid-fire sniper that’s redefining boss DPS strategies. Lance Ephemeral combines the archetype’s natural strengths: high RPM, generous precision multipliers, and excellent ammo economy. And a perk pool maximizes every advantage. The Frame of Reference origin trait adds a damage bonus after final blows, making it perfect for clearing adds before damage phases.
What Makes It Elite – the combination of Fourth Time’s the Charm and Bait and Switch creates a DPS monster that can sustain damage output longer than almost any other special weapon. Add in the Frame of Reference damage scaling, and you have a weapon that rewards skilled play with exceptional impact.

The most accessible S-tier weapon in Edge of Fate proves that you don’t need raid completions or Trials flawless runs to get meta-defining gear. This rocket-assisted sidearm from Crucible Ops delivers everything that made Aberrant Action legendary, but with even better perk combinations and multiple origin trait options that adapt to your playstyle.
Why It’s S-Tier – Heal Clip + Incandescent is one of the most powerful perk combinations in the game, turning every kill into health restoration and explosive Solar spread. The rocket-assisted frame ensures consistent damage at ranges where traditional sidearms fall off. At the same time, the Tenacity origin trait provides scaling damage bonuses that make it even deadlier in high-intensity encounters.

A Tier – The Reliable Performers
The precision frame shotgun that lives up to its name, Precipial brings consistent damage and excellent range to the Void shotgun category. Available through Kepler activities, this special weapon showcases what makes precision frames so appealing: reliable pellet spread, strong base stats, and the ability to compete with legendary shotguns across all content types.
Void Synergy Potential – the Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing Rounds combination creates unique Void 3.0 synergies, while the Exhaustive Research origin trait’s micro-rocket can actually proc One-Two Punch for additional melee damage scaling.

It’s a precision instrument that rewards careful aim with devastating Solar effects. The synergy with Solar 3.0 builds is great, though the clunky scope and double-fire cadence require adaptation.
The Burst Advantage – while the heavy burst archetype feels awkward initially, Agape’s potential shines through with proper perks. The Heal Clip + Incandescent combination creates incredible sustain and area control, while Precision Instrument enables devastating two-burst potential in PvP with sufficient weapon stats.
Solar Synergy – the combination of Incandescent spread damage and Solar 3.0 ignition effects creates chain reactions that can clear entire groups of enemies, making it exceptional for high-density encounters.
