To get Elite Void in OSRS, buy the regular Void Knight top, robe, gloves and at least one helmet from Pest Control, complete the Western Provinces Hard Diary, then spend 200 more commendation points on each of the top and robe upgrades. Starting with no Void equipment, that is 1,250 Pest Control points for one combat style or 1,650 points for all three helmets. You do not need the Western Provinces Elite Diary.
Pest Control wins and diary progress are separate bottlenecks. Combat Achievement rewards speed up farming, but points cannot replace the Zulrah, chompy and quest requirements.
Elite Void Unlock: The Quickest Practical Order
- Meet the Void Knight equipment requirement: 42 Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, Ranged and Magic, plus 22 Prayer.
- Start earning commendations from Pest Control, choosing a helmet for the combat style you actually use.
- Work on Western Provinces Easy and Medium tasks, then Hard. Hard includes a Veteran Pest Control game at 100 Combat, one Zulrah kill and 300 chompy or jubbly bird kills.
- Buy a regular top, robe, gloves and the chosen helmet for 850 points. Keep the regular top and robe for the upgrade.
- Claim the Hard Diary reward, return to the Elite Void Knight at the outpost, and spend 200 points per piece to upgrade the top and robe.
| Starting situation | Points still needed | Next priority |
|---|---|---|
| No Void items, one helmet wanted | 1,250 | Collect regular pieces and finish Hard Diary |
| Own regular top, robe, gloves and one helmet | 400 | Finish Hard Diary; upgrade both pieces |
| Want Elite Void with all three helmets, starting fresh | 1,650 | Add 400 points for the other two helmets |
Useful distinction: Elite Void is not an extra full armour set. Only the body and robe change into Elite versions; you keep using the regular Void Knight gloves and whichever Void helmet matches your attack style. The Void mace and seal are optional.
Finish the Right Part of the Unlock
Regular Void pieces and the Western Provinces Hard Diary are separate requirements. Earn both through the free steps below, or compare one focused service for the part that is taking the most time.
How Many Pest Control Points Does Elite Void Cost?
Commendations are earned in Pest Control, not purchased at the Grand Exchange. Count the pieces you own before setting a target.
| Piece | Regular cost | Elite upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Void knight top | 250 points | 200 additional |
| Void knight robe | 250 points | 200 additional |
| Void knight gloves | 150 points | No upgrade needed |
| Void ranger, mage or melee helm | 200 points each | No upgrade needed |
| Total: one helmet | 850 | 1,250 overall |
| Total: three helmets | 1,250 | 1,650 overall |
Already own regular Void? You need just 400 more for both upgrades. Add 200 per extra helmet, not another Elite upgrade fee. You can compare the full cost list in the OSRS Wiki’s Void Knight equipment reference.
Which Void Helmet Should You Buy First?
Ranger helm: a logical first choice for Vorkath and Ranged PvM. Mage helm: useful for Magic accuracy and the Elite damage bonus. Melee helm: grants melee accuracy and damage, but Elite adds no extra melee percentage. Start with one helmet; buy others when needed.
Western Provinces Hard Diary: The Actual Gate
You must finish Western Provinces Easy and Medium before claiming Hard. The Western Provinces Diary checklist covers your remaining quest and skill requirements.
Five Requirements That Usually Hold Players Up
- 100 Combat: the Hard task requires a Veteran lander Pest Control game and earning its commendation reward. A Novice or Intermediate win will not satisfy that task.
- One Zulrah kill: this is a real boss defeat, not just entry into the area. Prepare food, anti-venom protection and gear suited to the fight.
- 300 chompy or jubbly bird kills: the count builds through Easy and Medium toward Hard. Bring the ogre bow or comp ogre bow and supplies when claiming the hat from Rantz.
- Quests: plan Swan Song, Roving Elves, Regicide, Freeing King Awowogei in Recipe for Disaster, and the start of Mourning’s End Part I. Monkey Madness I progress also matters.
- Skill and item checks: examples include 75 Thieving for a gnome, 70 Ranged for a crystal-bow kill, 70 Mining for Tirannwn adamantite, 69 Hunter for the dashing kebbit, 68 Farming for a palm-tree health check and 65 Construction for the Isafdar painting. Other earlier diary tasks and quests have their own requirements.
Plant the Lletya palm tree early, gather chompy kills between quests, and finish travel unlocks before long trips. After completing Hard, claim the diary reward; the 400-point equipment upgrade is still separate.
Can You Boost Skill Levels for Western Hard?
Some diary skill checks allow temporary boosts. 100 Combat for the Veteran task cannot be bypassed, and quest/item gates remain. Check each task’s note before buying boosts.
Pest Control Points: Boats and Combat Achievements
Reach the outpost via the Pest Control minigame teleport or the squire’s Port Sarim ship. Use a populated world; each lander has a fixed Combat requirement and points reward.
| Lander | Combat needed | No CA reward | Easy CA | Medium CA | Hard CA+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Novice | 40 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| Intermediate | 70 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
| Veteran | 100 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
CA = Combat Achievements. Completing the Easy, Medium or Hard tier increases your points for each Pest Control victory by one, two or three respectively. Hard and higher CA tiers give the same +3; bonuses do not stack or bypass the diary. See Pest Control’s reward table for the latest breakdown.
How Many Wins Do You Need?
Divide missing points by points per win and round up. From zero, 1,250 points means 250 Veteran wins without CA bonuses or 157 wins with Hard CA. These minimums assume every game is won and ignore waiting.
| Veteran reward | 400-point upgrade only | 1,250 from zero | 1,650, all helms |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 points/win (no CA) | 80 wins | 250 wins | 330 wins |
| 6 points/win (Easy CA) | 67 wins | 209 wins | 275 wins |
| 7 points/win (Medium CA) | 58 wins | 179 wins | 236 wins |
| 8 points/win (Hard CA+) | 50 wins | 157 wins | 207 wins |
If your Combat level is below 100, you can still farm regular Void on an earlier lander. For instance, the 850-point regular set needs at least 284 Novice wins at three points each, or 213 Intermediate wins at four points. Since Hard Diary eventually requires the Veteran task, working toward 100 Combat before a long Elite-focused grind can save many games.
How to Win Pest Control More Consistently
Win by destroying all four portals before the Knight dies, or by defending him until time runs out. Fast groups usually focus portals with some central defence.
- Watch the activity bar. Attack pests or portals and help your team; if your activity drops to zero during a round, you lose eligibility for commendations even if the group wins. Avoid standing idle waiting for a portal shield.
- Prioritise Spinners near open portals. They heal portals and extend matches. Remove them quickly so your damage on the portal actually counts.
- Move with shield openings. Portals cannot be damaged while shielded. Follow the current open portal instead of attacking an invulnerable target.
- Protect the central Void Knight. If pests overrun the centre, leave a small defending group. A failed match gives no useful commendation progress.
- Use a populated lander and reliable combat style. Consistent wins beat an impractical damage setup.
Modern OSRS uses an activity bar, not a fixed damage threshold. Keep it above zero; the wins table is not an hourly-rate promise.
How to Upgrade Regular Void to Elite Void
After claiming Hard and saving 400 points, bring your regular top and robe to the Elite Void Knight at the outpost.
- Confirm the diary reward has been claimed from the Elder Gnome child in the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
- Make sure you have your original Void knight top and Void knight robe, and at least 400 commendations unspent.
- Talk to the Elite Void Knight. Upgrade the top for 200 points and the robe for 200 points.
- Equip the Elite top and robe with regular Void knight gloves and your chosen helm.
- Check the set bonus is active. If you later buy a different helmet, use the same Elite top and robe for that style.
Common mistake: buying a second set of gloves or hoping an ordinary Void Knight will sell you an entire Elite set. There is no separate Elite helmet, and the upgrade is not a free item from the diary reward itself.
Elite Void Bonuses: Ranged, Magic and Melee
The Elite top and robe add a total of +6 Prayer bonus (+3 from each piece). They do not change the armour’s ordinary defence values. The helmet controls the set effect, and all four required Void pieces must be equipped. The Elite Void equipment reference gives the individual bonuses.
| Helmet | Full regular Void bonus | With Elite top + robe |
|---|---|---|
| Ranger | +10% Ranged accuracy and damage | +10% accuracy, +12.5% Ranged damage |
| Mage | +45% Magic accuracy | +45% accuracy, +5% Magic damage |
| Melee | +10% Melee accuracy and damage | Same melee bonus; +6 Prayer from robes |
Accuracy is not the same as damage. The extra 2.5 percentage points on Elite Ranged apply to damage, not to the 10% Ranged accuracy bonus. Magic’s extra damage is 5% under the updated equipment rules, while Melee gets no extra Elite damage percentage. All three benefit from the Elite pieces’ Prayer bonus.
Is Elite Void Worth Getting in 2026?
Yes for many accounts, but not for every boss. Your weapon, enemy Defence and available specialised armour all matter.
Where Elite Void Can Shine
- Ranged Vorkath: a recognised use case, particularly with a Dragon hunter crossbow and the correct Salve amulet bonus. These effects can stack, although your full setup still matters.
- Multi-style activities: a shared top, robe and gloves let you change combat style with a helmet swap, saving inventory space compared with several full armour sets.
- Midgame-to-advanced PvM: for players who cannot yet afford expensive armour, Elite Void offers a reusable unlock with no fresh gear purchase for every style.
Where You May Prefer Other Gear
Against high Defence, specialised attack gear may beat Void; defensive armour may also extend trips. Buy extra helmets only for content you plan to run, and compare gear for the specific boss.
Avoid These Elite Void Mistakes
- Planning only 400 points from scratch. Four hundred buys the upgrade only after the 850-point regular set and Hard Diary are handled.
- Completing Western Elite instead of Hard. Western Hard is the correct upgrade gate; Elite is a harder, unrelated diary tier for this unlock.
- Stopping at 70 Combat. You can use the Intermediate boat, but Hard Diary still requires a Veteran Pest Control game at 100 Combat.
- Dropping the Void gloves. Without the required gloves, top, robe and a helmet together, the set effect will not activate.
- Assuming Combat Achievements replace points. They change reward points per victory, not item costs or diary progression.
- Spending all points before you upgrade. Save the 400 remaining points once your regular set is complete.
OSRS Elite Void FAQ
Do I need 100 Combat to buy regular Void?
No. Regular Void Knight equipment is based on combat-skill and Prayer requirements, and Pest Control starts at 40 Combat. The Hard Western Provinces Diary, which enables Elite upgrades, includes a Veteran match requiring 100 Combat.
Can I get Elite Void without killing Zulrah?
Not through the normal diary route. A Zulrah kill is one of the Western Provinces Hard tasks. Other players cannot simply trade you Elite Void, because the equipment is earned through your own Pest Control and diary unlocks.
Are Combat Achievement bonuses required?
No. They only increase commendations from each successful Pest Control round. For example, Veteran awards five points without a bonus and eight with the Hard Combat Achievement reward or higher.
Can I use a regular Void helmet with Elite top and robe?
Yes. That is how the set works. Pair the Elite top and robe with regular Void knight gloves and the Ranger, Mage or Melee helmet for the matching bonus.
Does Western Provinces Hard give the Elite pieces for free?
No. The diary unlocks the ability to pay 200 commendation points per piece. The full one-helmet Elite cost from an empty collection remains 1,250 points.
Can I get Elite Void as an Ironman?
Yes, through the same diary and Pest Control systems. Plan around the account’s quest supplies and personal boss ability; the equipment and upgrades are not traded between players.
