WoW Forever pre-raid gearing starts with a decision, not a fixed best-in-slot list: reach level 60, identify the weakest slots for your role, collect reliable upgrades from quests and crafts, then farm the dungeons and reputation rewards your character can actually access. Keep raid drops out of your pre-raid checklist. The level-60 launch is scheduled for November 4, 2026, with the first raids scheduled for December 9, 2026; the high-level loot picture is still being documented ahead of launch.
You do not need to replace every item before your first raid. A dependable weapon, workable defenses or healing throughput, and several realistic slot upgrades can matter more than chasing one speculative item. This roadmap covers a level-60 preparation process, with concrete examples from the WoW Forever item database checked on October 27, 2026. It does not claim a tested final launch BiS ranking.
What Counts as Pre-Raid Gear in Forever?
Pre-raid gear means equipment you can obtain without needing drops from a raid. Typical sources are dungeon bosses, quest rewards, professions, trade or the Auction House, and reputation vendors after their requirements are met. Some pieces require long quest chains or expensive materials, but that does not make them raid loot.
| Source | Why it belongs in your plan | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Quests | Target a guaranteed reward for a missing slot before repeating a random-drop dungeon. | Faction, chain prerequisites, available reward choices and item version. |
| Dungeons | Pick a boss or objective that can serve several group members in one run. | Instance access, boss loot record, group needs and any associated quest. |
| Crafts and trade | Fill a weak slot without relying on a specific boss drop. | Recipe source, profession level, Bind-on-Pickup restrictions, material cost and market availability. |
| Reputation | Convert ongoing faction progress into a planned equipment purchase. | Actual Forever vendor inventory, standing, currency and class restrictions. |
The Level 30 gear checkpoint is useful while leveling, but it is not a level-60 shopping list. Likewise, an item won in Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit or Onyxia’s Lair is raid gear even if you plan to use it in later dungeons. Forever also revises familiar Classic itemization, so a copied Vanilla ranking can miss changed hit, critical strike, healing and spell-damage values.
Choose Your Gearing Goal and Role
Before you queue or buy materials, write down your primary spec, the activity you are preparing for, and three slots that most need improvement. An upgrade that improves a healer’s sustained casts may be a poor choice for a damage build on the same class. Think in terms of job and opportunity cost rather than one universal stat order.
| Role | First comparison | Avoid this trap |
|---|---|---|
| Physical melee DPS | Weapon damage and useful Strength/Agility, attack power, hit and critical effects for the selected build. | Paying for a complete set when the weapon is the largest remaining weakness. |
| Hunter / ranged physical | Ranged weapon quality, role-specific attack stats and gear that supports your actual damage abilities. | Assuming a melee tooltip or historical Classic breakpoint fully describes ranged benefit. |
| Spell DPS | Spell-damage contribution, reliability, mana needs and the effect of class talents on your main spells. | Using a pre-Forever spell-hit cap or an unrelated healer ranking as a buying rule. |
| Healer | Effective healing, mana sustainability and survivability over the fights your group expects. | Choosing a large mana pool alone without comparing healing and regeneration. |
| Tank | Survival under expected pulls, threat support, shield or weapon quality, and practical dungeon survivability. | Treating an unverified Classic defense threshold as a confirmed Forever requirement. |
Choose a route: if most slots are underpowered, build a practical full non-raid set. If you already have reliable gear, pick two or three missing slots and match each to a source. If you want a class set for its bonuses or collection value, treat Tier 0.5 as a separate project; it is not automatically the best choice for every role. You can do all of this yourself, or have an agreed list farmed through the corresponding service after the game and its content become available.
Build a Full Set or Fix the Slots Holding You Back
Start with the DIY route below. If you prefer help farming an agreed list, choose a full non-raid set or individual gear slots; delivery depends on launch, source availability and your character’s requirements.
A Practical Level 60 Gearing Route
Use this order as a decision framework, not an untested “fastest farm” claim. Each step should leave your character more useful for the next one.
1. First Useful Upgrades
Make a short inventory: weapon, off-hand or shield, chest, legs, and the slots with the weakest current item. Record each piece’s source, whether the reward is guaranteed, and any bind or profession restrictions. Prioritize improvements you can obtain without an uncertain boss drop: a quest with a confirmed reward, a craft your character can wear, or an affordable tradeable item.
Check the leveling 1–60 route if the character is not yet at the cap. Do not build a long level-60 farm schedule for an underleveled character that cannot enter its intended content.
2. Dungeon and Quest Circuit
Pick one confirmed target per run and combine it with quests your party can complete. Blackmaw Hold (recommended levels 55–60, Azshara) and Shaper’s Terrace (58–60, Un’Goro Crater) are among Forever’s higher-level new dungeons. Their level ranges help plan a route, not a guaranteed loot table. Use the Forever Dungeons Guide for access and location details; verify boss rewards separately in the current client or exact Forever item record before repeatedly farming a specific slot.
Also compare well-documented returning dungeon drops, including Stratholme and Upper Blackrock Spire, with the newly introduced options. A boss item is a candidate, not a promise: check whether the boss, loot assignment and item version are available on the live release build before you commit to repeated runs.
3. Crafts and Reputation Rewards
For craftable equipment, check the wearer requirements separately from the crafter’s skill. Bind-on-Equip pieces can often be bought from another player; Bind-on-Pickup class robes may require your character to learn the relevant profession and craft the item personally. Work out the actual material list against the live recipe before investing, since Forever may change recipes and material availability.
Before starting a long reputation grind, identify the faction, the vendor, the reward you can actually use, and its standing or currency requirement. If a suitable reward is not available for your build, put that time into a reachable dungeon, quest or crafted upgrade instead.
4. Prepare for December 9
When your everyday set feels stable, move from farming to readiness: finalize your spec, gather consumables and appropriate enchants, confirm raid access, and leave time for a few replacement pieces rather than attempting to finish every optional upgrade. Blizzard’s scheduled opening of Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair on December 9, 2026 is a planning milestone, not proof that any future raid loot is already obtainable.
Documented Gear Sources and Practical Alternatives
The table below contains specific records from the WoW Forever item database checked October 27, 2026. Item IDs and displayed effects make these useful research targets. Database entries are not evidence of a successful run in the unreleased level-60 client, and changes can still occur before launch. The table is not a complete BiS list: compare a target with gear you already own and inspect the source and availability at release.
| Item (Forever record) | Role / key listed stats | Level and acquisition | If the route is not practical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lionheart Helm Item 12640 | Plate melee head; +18 Strength, +20 hit and +28 critical-strike values in the Forever tooltip. | Requires level 56; Bind on Equip, Blacksmithing 300 / Armorsmith plans. Check current plans and materials. | Keep a suitable existing helmet and improve the main weapon or an easier slot first. |
| Devilsaur Gauntlets Item 15063 | Leather physical hands; +9 Stamina, +1% crit, +28 Attack Power in the current record. | Requires level 53; Bind on Equip, Tribal Leatherworking 290 recipe. | Use a strong quest/dungeon hand item instead of paying for an incomplete two-piece plan. |
| Devilsaur Leggings Item 15062 | Leather physical legs; +12 Stamina, +1% crit, +46 Attack Power; listed two-piece Devilsaur bonus is +2% hit. | Requires level 55; Bind on Equip, Tribal Leatherworking (290) craft. The listed set bonus requires both Devilsaur pieces. | Evaluate legs alone if the gauntlets are unavailable; do not assume the set always wins for your spec. |
| Truefaith Vestments Item 14154 | Priest cloth chest; +14 Stamina, +16 Spirit, up to +73 healing / +25 spell damage; shortens Fade cooldown. | Requires level 57; Priest only, Bind on Pickup, Tailoring 300 craft. | Use a verified dungeon or quest chest if your Priest is not pursuing the profession. |
| Robe of the Archmage Item 14152 | Mage cloth chest; +12 Intellect, +40 spell damage/healing, mana-restoring use effect. | Requires level 57; Mage only, Bind on Pickup, high-level Tailoring craft. | Compare a general caster chest and weapon first if profession investment is a bottleneck. |
| Hide of the Wild Item 18510 | Healer cloak; +8 Stamina, +10 Intellect, +42 healing and +14 spell damage. | Requires level 57; Bind on Equip, Leatherworking 300 craft. Check recipe and trade options. | A smaller but accessible healing cloak may be a better first upgrade if materials are scarce. |
| Draconian Deflector Item 12602 | Tank shield candidate; the current Forever database listing shows 2153 armor, 40 block, +7 Stamina, +10 Fire Resistance and +10 Defense. | Requires level 58; Bind on Pickup. Historically associated with General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire; the final Forever drop and stats are not independently confirmed. | Compare obtainable shields rather than assuming the Classic-era boss source and item values are unchanged. |
| Cape of the Black Baron Item 13340 | Physical DPS cloak; +15 Agility, +20 Attack Power. | Requires level 58; Bind on Pickup, listed with Baron Rivendare in Stratholme. | Use a confirmed quest or crafted cloak if group farming is less accessible. |
How to use this table: treat the named records as a shortlist, then confirm an obtainable source for your realm and version. Boss loot is never guaranteed on a particular run, while recipes, profession specializations, Bind-on-Pickup restrictions and materials can limit crafted options. Some database tooltips still display older percentage-based effects alongside Forever’s newer unified stats; compare the in-game tooltip before treating two versions as equivalent.
WoW Forever’s official stat-system changes also matter when comparing items: spell, melee and ranged hit and critical chance are consolidated; healing bonuses grant some spell damage; and itemization introduces more ways to manage parries and dodges. Follow your latest class/spec recommendations and the current tooltip, not an old one-size-fits-all Classic cap.
Where Tier 0 and Tier 0.5 Fit
Tier 0 is a classic-style dungeon class set. Tier 0.5, often called Dungeon Set 2, builds on that class-set gearing path through additional upgrade objectives. Both can be meaningful if you value a coordinated set and its bonuses, but a single well-chosen off-set item may beat a particular set piece for your immediate role. The right comparison depends on your actual spec and the set effects on the Forever client.
| Goal | What to plan | What it does not imply |
|---|---|---|
| Fill empty/weak gear slots | Mix quest, craft and dungeon alternatives by slot. | No requirement to collect eight matching armor pieces. |
| Collect Tier 0 | Identify the correct class set pieces and their documented dungeon sources. | Owning Tier 0 does not automatically complete any upgrade chain. |
| Work toward Tier 0.5 | Check each quest stage, class-set prerequisites, materials and required group content. | Not a universal best-in-slot replacement for weapons, rings or every off-set armor piece. |
If you are considering the Tier 0.5 Set service, its Full Set option includes obtaining the underlying Tier 0 armor and upgrades. Its Upgrade Only order option requires that you already own the full base Tier 0 set. That is a service package requirement, not a claim that all eight Tier 0 pieces must be in your bags before you can start any individual game quest. We cover the detailed item-by-item upgrade quest route separately; it should not be mistaken for this general gearing roadmap.
What to Prepare Before the First Raids
Blizzard has scheduled the opening of three level-60 raids for December 9, 2026. Use the gap after launch to make the character functional, not to chase raid drops before they exist.
| Raid | Planned size | Pre-entry preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Barrow Deeps | 10 players | Coordinate your role, group assignments and route; Blizzard lists entrances connected with Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold. |
| Hyjal Summit | 20 players | Check your group’s roles, consumables and approach to the summit; do not assume Onyxia-specific attunement applies here. |
| Onyxia’s Lair | 40 players | Complete the faction attunement; each raider must carry the Drakefire Amulet for entry. Prepare appropriate fire resistance and encounter supplies. |
Onyxia’s Drakefire Amulet requirement is separate from the two other raids. If you still need that questline, use our WoW Forever Onyxia Attunement Guide. Do not equate finishing the amulet chain with collecting an entire pre-raid equipment set.
Before spending materials on enchants or consumables, ask what your raid group expects for your role. Bring appropriate supplies, and treat numerical resistance, hit or defense targets as build- and encounter-dependent rather than universal requirements. Blizzard’s raid overview confirms the date, raid sizes and the Onyxia access requirement, not a finalized best-in-slot list.
Full Pre-Raid Set or a Few Missing Slots?
Your choice depends on how many upgrades are still useful. If the character has poor gear across most slots, assembling a complete agreed non-raid set can make sense. If the character already has suitable weapons, armor and basic survivability, a specific-slot plan may save you from replacing items that are already good enough. If your goal is the class’s Dungeon Set 2, plan a Tier 0.5 quest project, not just a bag of random dungeon drops.
| Your situation | Better next step | Available LepreStore option |
|---|---|---|
| Many slots need replacing; you want one agreed pre-raid set. | Prepare the full slot list and check all non-raid sources. | Pre-Raid Gear; Piloted package for one agreed spec, excludes raid drops. |
| Only a few armor, weapon, ring or trinket slots remain weak. | Agree on each individual item and when its source opens. | Specific BiS Gear; can target chosen slots, but raid-only sources wait until raids open. |
| You want Dungeon Set 2 and its class-set progression. | Review Tier 0 ownership and the dedicated upgrade stages. | Tier 0.5 Set; Full Set or Upgrade Only, each with different entry conditions. |
All three services depend on the game’s launch, available content, your character’s eligibility, and the agreed order scope. A purchase is not proof that a specific item will drop on the first run, or that a future raid source is already accessible. If you prefer to farm your own upgrades, the dungeon/quest/craft route above is complete enough to start comparing candidates without placing an order.
Pre-Raid Gearing FAQ
Do I need every listed item to start raiding?
No. The examples show real Forever database records and trade-offs, not a mandatory raid-entry checklist. Your group, class role and actual current gear decide which upgrades matter.
Can a level-30 item remain useful after level 60?
It may remain equipped until you obtain a better replacement. That does not make the level-30 checkpoint a pre-raid list. Compare the piece against relevant level-60 quest, dungeon and crafted alternatives.
Are the best WoW Forever pre-raid items already known?
Not conclusively before launch. Forever’s redesigned stats, revised recipes and newly added dungeon loot need current item-source verification and live testing. Avoid treating a legacy Classic BiS page as a finished Forever answer.
Are the new 55–60 dungeons guaranteed to drop a particular upgrade?
No. A recommended dungeon level tells you where to investigate, not which boss drops a particular item or its drop rate. Check the exact Forever item and boss record, then verify the release build before scheduling repeated runs.
Is a full Tier 0.5 set required for pre-raid gearing?
No. Tier 0.5 is a specialized class-set goal. Mixed off-set dungeon, crafted and quest pieces may be more practical for your needs; judge the actual bonuses and cost of the upgrade stages.
Does a pre-raid gear service include raid drops or leveling to 60?
No. LepreStore’s named Pre-Raid Gear package is described as a non-raid set for an eligible level-60 character, with raid drops and leveling outside that package. Other named products have separate requirements and may include raid sources only when the corresponding content is open.
