Dragonflight is a brand new expansion for World of Warcraft, ninth so far. This expansion introducing new continent, new class and race (Dracthyr), and a lot of new features. We’ve prepared this article to have all the new changes explained and detailed in a nutshell. After reading it, you will definitely try Dragonflight for yourself!
Dracthyrs have 2 specializations – damage (Devastation) and healing (Preservation)
Obviously we start with the most exciting thing coming in Dragonflight – new race and a new class! We had that before in Mists and Legion, when pandarens and monks were introduced, alongside demon hunters. This time we have combined feature from both add-ons – complete new race and a complete new class, bound to that race.

Dracthyrs are looking so amazing in their human forms!
It’s a new dragonkin race with an exclusive class of Damage Dealers and Healers – Evoker. It’s a mid-range class, using magic as their main source of dealing damage and providing heal.
Devastation Evokers are using magic of Blue and Red Dragonflight to deal massive single target damage with some burst and DoT potential. Main disadvantage is that their spells are limited to 25 yd range. As an addition, Devastation specialization is mostly builded around combo abilities, dealing insane amount of damage with a proper order.
Preservation Evokers are able to heal wounded players with a power of Green and Bronze Dragonflight. This specialization is a mix of restoration druids and mistweaver monks. So they have a new system to rewind damage taken on allies and able to mitigate incoming threat with their abilities.
Evokers are starting with level 58 and are limited to 1 per realm.
Dragonflight Talents Revamp brings good old times
Dragonflight introduces a full revamp of a Talent Tree system. Instead of familiar to all players well-recommended 7-row 1 out of 3 system, we will now have it old way. Old way means pre-Cataclysm system but modified to a more modern view. Thus means that you now have each specialization talents available as a big talent tree, combined with a class-specific.
Players will be able to have 61 talent points on level 70, with 31 class points and 30 specialization points. That approximately will fill ⅔ of both trees (class and specialization). With a limited amount of points, players have to plan their build and will have real diversity in their builds, focusing more on doing damage or their self-defense abilities.
A lot of people were complaining about previous system, calling it too chilling and non-versatile. Now you can create your character fully by yourself with your own set of abilities and passive effects. Isn’t it amazing? Remember, how you could overperform others in Wrath of the Lich King by making your own build?
Meta will create generic builds as it always happens, but player can always create his own unique way according to his playstyle. This feature is awesome and will add more options to everyone!
In Dragonflight every profession will be valuable
Another amazing revamp is made around professions. Since Pandaria, crafting professions didnt serve their main purposes, as gear provided was way weaker than open world. But in Dragonflight Blizzard are revamping the system completely.
First major feature is crafting orders – players will have the availability to place orders upon a new desk, so others profession holders could execute them for gold. That means, in a nutshell, that miners would be able to work on gathering ores and creating ingots, then placing orders for blacksmithing gear. We expect a big conflict with auction system, so this is going to be interesting. Now every player would be able to get soulbind crafted gear for themselves through this desk.

Bigger value of profession level is a next step. Players with higher profession levels & ranks are able to create much higher ilvl gear, extra stat values, more powerful gems & potions etc. System is rewarding every profession with much higher quality of items they can produce or gather with level.

Profession-based gear is also added to Dragonflight. This gear will help players to be more productive in their professions (gather faster and more items or craft with better values). This gear will not take any space in your inventory and will be automatically swapped while you are doing something according to your profession (mining the ore or creating a gem, etc).
We are still looking forward to this system, but it is indeed a good way to increase value and point of having a high-scored profession.
Garrosh is waiting to return in Dragonflight’s version of Siege of Orgrimmar!
Developers started to return old dungeons in Shadowlands season 3 and 4 already, but then fated raids came in play as well. At least all the raids of the expansion finally became viable and valuable to everyone with bumped up item level. Imagine having top item level Conversion of Elements in Legion, instead of having <70 ilvl lower trinket in the endgame only due to its effect? This thing will change meta builds and increase versatility of many classes.
Season 1 of Dragonflight will feature 4 older dungeons from previous expansion and 4 brand new, which is already amazing! We dont have proper information about older raids from previous expansion returning yet, but developers were making many hints regarding this happening in Dragonflight.
We are 100% sure that many players would be delighted to be back to Siege of Orgrimmar, Nighthold, Emerald Nightmare, Dragon Soul and other iconic raid dungeons. Unlike timewalking, returning content offers you gear rewards and adding more options to enjoy the game and face different challenges throughout exploring new content.
Now you can show your real solo skill in Dragonflight arena!
Many players are struggling to find a stable team to play their pvp activities, especially in the arena. Similar to moba, strategies and other competitive games, World of Warcraft is adding a solo rating to players vs players. Now you don’t need to find teammates to play, you can just queue by yourself and enjoy the game.
This feature is big. Now best players will be determined by their hardworking and versatility with playing in a solo queue. No more pre-made R1 players not letting other players to reach high rating. Everything is in your hands now, folks. Only a real skill and ability to adapt to constantly changing teammates will increase the overall skill level of every pvp player.
This is indeed a new chapter in WoW arena, so Dragonflight will be one of the best pvp addons so far.
Dragonflight is going to be amazing, combining old and new!
Dragonflight expansion cuts all the borrowed power features from previous expansions, bringing World of Warcraft to its best formula – amazing RPG experience with tons of other people by your side. System, where you can be a progressing raid player, or a successful blacksmith, or even a mighty gladiator. But now – wiith access to all other options, not being forced to do everything at once with a syndrome of lost profit.
