How to Get Destiny 2 Exotic Catalysts

There’s no single way to unlock every catalyst. Some drop randomly from grinding ritual activities, others come from exotic missions or questlines. If you’re doing high-end PvE, Nightfalls, raids, or PvP, you want your weapons running at 100%. For casual players, the extra effort can still feel worth it. Catalyst effects can smooth out reloads, stabilize aim assist, or boost ammo capacity. It’s not always game-breaking, but it’s definitely a quality-of-life thing.

Destiny 2 Catalyst Masterwork

Unlocking a catalyst is just the beginning. To get the full benefit, you need to complete the catalyst challenge and turn the weapon into a Masterwork. This step usually requires a lot of kills on the weapon you want to Masterwork. Sometimes the kills must be done in Crucible with only precision hits.

Once you masterwork the weapon, it starts generating Orbs of Power and tracks kills, just like legendary Masterworked guns. More importantly, you activate the catalyst’s bonus perk, which often transforms how the weapon feels in actual fights.
