Season 14 brings one of the biggest Mythic Unique changes Diablo 4 has seen so far. Mythics are no longer just a tiny pool of ultra-rare items. Now, any Unique can become a Mythic Unique, either through a lucky drop or by upgrading it with the Horadric Cube.
This matters a lot for endgame builds. A Mythic version of the right Unique can push your damage, defense, or build engine much higher than the normal item. The problem is that the new system is not fully targeted, and wasting a good Unique on the wrong craft can feel terrible.
Pandemonium Fragments are the new seasonal currency, and they’re the gate here. If you want to craft, you need a reliable supply. We cover every source and the fastest way to farm them in our How To Get Pandemonium Fragments Guide.
In Season 14, Mythic is treated as an item quality for Unique items. That means regular Uniques can now appear as Mythic versions, and those Mythic versions come with stronger power than the base item.
The simple idea is this: if your build already needs a certain Unique, a Mythic version of that slot can become a major upgrade. Rings, weapons, chests, helms, and other Unique slots can all matter, depending on your build. This is why Mythic crafting is one of the main progression systems of the season.
To craft a Mythic Unique in Season 14, open the Horadric Cube and look for the recipe called Upgrade to Mythic. This recipe uses a Unique item and Pandemonium Fragments to create a Mythic Unique.
The most important part is that the result is random, but it stays in the same equipment slot as the Unique you used. If you put in a Unique ring, you get a random Mythic ring. If you put in a Unique chest armor, you get a random Mythic chest armor. The exact Unique you sacrifice does not decide the exact Mythic you receive.
The original item’s stats do not control the final Mythic roll. The only thing that really matters is the item slot. Because of that, do not throw your best equipped Unique into the Cube just because it has good rolls.
If you want to craft a Mythic ring, use a useless Unique ring from your stash, not the ring that is carrying your build. If you want to gamble on a Mythic chest, use a spare Unique chest. A bad Unique in the correct slot can give the same type of result as your best one, so keep your strong gear safe until you know exactly what you are doing.
Pandemonium Fragments are the main seasonal material used for Mythic upgrading in the Horadric Cube. You will farm these throughout the season if you want to craft multiple Mythic options and chase better rolls. The best source is the Corrupted Reaper, the new Seasonal Lair Boss near Zarbinzet. This boss is unlocked through the seasonal questline and sits near the top of the boss ladder. Like other Lair Bosses, killing the boss is only part of the process. You still need the right key to open the reward hoard after the kill.
The farming loop looks like this:
You can also get Pandemonium Fragments from seasonal sources like the Season Reputation Board, Resplendent Caches, and Season Journey rewards. If you want to dive into more details, we remind you about the article where you will find every source and the fastest way to farm them in our How To Get Pandemonium Fragments Guide.
Your first crafted Mythic should be the item slot that gives your build the biggest power spike. Do not craft randomly just because you have enough fragments. Check your build guide first and see which Unique matters most.
For some builds, the best craft might be a ring because the build needs a specific Unique effect to function. For others, it might be a weapon, helm, chest, or amulet. The smart play is to craft around your build’s core item, not around whatever spare Unique you happen to find first.
You can only equip one crafted Mythic Unique at a time. This is one of the most important rules in Season 14. If you craft a Mythic with the Horadric Cube, that item takes your crafted Mythic slot.
Dropped Mythics are different. If you find Mythic Uniques naturally through gameplay, they can be used alongside your crafted Mythic. This makes natural drops still very valuable, even with the new crafting system.
Mythic Uniques can have fixed and random affixes. After crafting one, you can still use normal item improvement systems, but you should not expect to fully rebuild the item from scratch. You can reroll one eligible affix through enchantment at the Occultist, so choose carefully before locking in changes.
This is another reason why the first craft matters. A bad result is not always useless, but fixing a poor Mythic can still cost a lot of materials, gold, and time.
The old Mythic crafting method is still in the game. You can craft a random Mythic item at the Blacksmith using 2 Resplendent Sparks and 50 million gold.
This method creates a random item from the original Mythic pool, now often called Iconic Mythics. This includes classic chase items like Harlequin Crest, Heir of Perdition, and other older Mythic Uniques.
The downside is that Blacksmith-crafted Mythics still count as crafted Mythics. So if you make one at the Blacksmith, the one-crafted-Mythic equip rule still applies. Do not burn Sparks and gold unless you actually want to gamble for one of the Iconic Mythics.
The best strategy is simple: farm Pandemonium Fragments, save spare Uniques from important slots, and craft only after checking what your build needs most. The Horadric Cube does not give you the exact Unique you sacrificed, so the whole system is about slot targeting, not item targeting.
If your build needs a Mythic ring, save extra Unique rings. If your build needs a Mythic chest, save extra Unique chests. Never sacrifice your equipped best-in-slot Unique just to test the recipe.
Season 14 Mythic crafting is powerful, but it is still RNG. Use useless Uniques, farm the Corrupted Reaper for fragments, and spend your first craft on the slot that gives your build the biggest upgrade.
How do you craft Mythic Uniques in Diablo 4 Season 14?
You craft Mythic Uniques through the Horadric Cube using the Upgrade to Mythic recipe. The recipe requires a Unique item and Pandemonium Fragments, then gives you a random Mythic Unique from the same equipment slot.
Does the Unique item matter when crafting a Mythic?
Only the slot matters. A Unique ring creates a random Mythic ring, and a Unique chest creates a random Mythic chest. The original item’s stats and rolls do not decide the final Mythic result.
Where do Pandemonium Fragments drop?
Pandemonium Fragments mainly come from the Corrupted Reaper, the Season Reputation Board, Resplendent Caches, and Season Journey rewards. The Corrupted Reaper is the best farming target if you want fragments faster.
Can you equip more than one crafted Mythic in Season 14?
No, you can only equip one crafted Mythic Unique at a time. Naturally dropped Mythics do not follow the same restriction, so dropped Mythics can still be used together with your crafted one.
