Reliving, probably, one of the most tense periods of time in the history of relations between the Alliance and the Horde is possible in WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic. However, it is better to delve into the story of Sha, Pandaren, Hozens, and the madness of Garrosh Hellscream with the prepared character. Here, at Leprestore, we have made a Tier List of the best specs in each role so that you can decide who will be your hero exploring Pandaria!

WoW Pandaria Classic Class Tier List Explained

Panda-1

How was it back in the days of Pandaria? Well, the Horde still struggled with leadership, the Alliance felt more righteous than ever, and Prince Anduin just started his way of becoming the bold king we see him now. But there were lots of threats there as well, and our WoW Pandaria Classic Best Class Tier List should help you deal with that. If you come from Retail or previous Classic iterations of the game, you may not be prepared for what is to come.

Each Classic expansion is completely different from another, and it’s cause its goal is to recreate the atmosphere, gameplay mechanics, and story that were present in the original version. Here are the core distinctive features of WoW Pandaria Classic we kept in mind while designing the tier list.

  • Difference in updates
  • New class
  • Daily quests
  • Full-scale implementation of LFR

The most important aspect of MoP Classic that affects the efficiency of your chosen class and spec in the current update it is on. We know that, just like other Classic expansions, MoP Classic will be rolled out update by update over the course of the next year and a half. With each update the balance for different types of content changed to a feasible extent. That means the spec you will choose now will most likely become not as efficient in the update 5.4 if it was too powerful in 5.2. That is why our MoP Classic Best Classes Tier List is listing the specs by their efficiency on average across updates!

The new features like the full-scale implementation of LFR or the addition of the Monk class hugely affect the balance in MoP Classic. Back in the day, Monks dominated everything, and it was especially true for Brewmaster Monk who was literally broken with its Stagger mechanics. LFR for every raid brought a new progression system where earning gear, and thus maximizing the efficiency of each class became easier. It also heavily affects the creation of the Tier list.

Finally, whether your spec is in demand or not is dependent on gaining new gear and stuff from Reputation vendors, and open-world content in MoP Classic is represented by all-consuming daily quests. Whether certain specs benefit from doing dailies regularly or not, affects the Tier list as some specs can gain a significant boost just from boring, but relatively easy-to-complete everyday activities.

WoW Pandaria Classic DPS Tier List

DPS Tier List in MoP Classic will look for you quite unusual compared to other expansions, especially Retail. A lot of mechanics were merciless to Melee in Raids, and the absence of M+ scaling of the difficulty of dungeons makes people mostly focus on Raids overall. At the same time, dungeons had a special Challenge mode which was a predecessor of M+, but because completing these didn’t reward you with significant character or gear progression, they should affect your choice of spec less. Let us have a look at the brief explanations of each tier!

Panda-2

Melee DPS S-Tier

As you may guess, specs effective in single-target fights will have all the attention in MoP Classic as Raids act not just as a pinnacle of progression, but also as the primary content overall. That is why specs like Subtlety Rogue or Arms Warrior are extremely effective as they can burst single-target damage and often be a must-pick for most Raid encounters. At the same time, probably, the most versatile S-tier Melee here is the Enhancement Shaman which has both great AoE and single-target potential.

Ranged DPS S-Tier

Being Ranged DPS is slightly easier in MoP Remix than Melee, and the candidates in the S-tier are mostly extremely versatile in the types of content they can be good at. The absolute leader here is Affliction Warlock who can be both effective multi-target and single-target thanks to the incredible DoTs they possess. A slightly different situation is with the Balance Druid which is somewhat less effective in dungeons but can show outstanding performance in Raids. Finally, fights dependent on the burst damage will make your Arcane Mage shine as this is probably the best burst-based spec in the game throughout the whole expansion.

Melee DPS A-Tier

All specs listed in the A-tier for Melee are almost as good as in the S-tier but can lose to the other candidates in raw damage. Unholy Death Knight can be a fantastic asset in Raids if the player knows how to manage its complicated system of resources, and utility is also quite superior for that spec. Windwalker Monk is an incredible Melee as well thanks to its mobility and utility in dungeons. Retribution Paladin will play well in fights that require bursting damage and also can bring nice utility to the table.

Ranged DPS A-Tier

Ranged DPS listed under A-tier will have quite a diverse efficiency across different patches of the MoP Classic. Demonology Warlock and Destruction Warlock are two powerful specs that can be used differently depending on the content type as Demonology will show better in dungeons, while Destruction can be effective in bursting single-target damage. At the same time, a more versatile option will be Shadow Priest which is very strong in Raids and can deal multi-target damage as well. Finally, Fire Mage is a bit of a wild card as playing it is quite difficult and reworks of Combustion will require you to alter playstyles for maximum efficiency.

Melee DPS B-Tie

This is where some specs start to lack in efficiency significantly. For example, Frost Death Knight is much less efficient in every type of content than Unholy, but it is significantly easier to master. On the other hand, Fury Warrior can perform even better than S-tier melees, but only with BiS gear, and getting it might be painful. Finally, Combat Rogue is fantastically useful in fights where cleave damage is required, but single-target encounters are definitely their weak spot.

Ranged DPS B-Tier

While playing Ranged specs, it is important to consider both versatility and overall damage output compared to other specs. For Marksmanship Hunter it will be a time to shine in Raids as its single-target damage is impressive, but AoE-wise or multi-target wise it will lose to most options in the higher tiers. Elemental Shaman, on the other hand, has some good AoE burst abilities, but in single-target encounters, it will be much less desirable. Finally, Frost Mages are good in single-target, have amazing survivability, and can be taken to PvP, but will lose overall to other specs of the Mage class.

Melee DPS C-Tier

The worst Melee DPS in MoP Classic is Assassination Rogue, and not just because of its relatively weak overall damage. Assassination is effective at single-target fights and quite useless in dungeons, for example. But also, reworks implemented over the course of the expansion made Assassination gradually weaker putting it in 5.4 not only lower than other Rogue specs but also at the bottom of the Melee specs overall.

Ranged DPS C-Tier

The time when Survival Hunter was a Ranged spec, and both them and Beast Mastery performed incredibly badly. It was partially compensated by how easy it was to play these two specs. Survival had really comfortable rotation that involved almost zero movement from the player, while Beast Mastery had loads of safe rotations and high plain damage that didn’t require complicated skills. Both, however, fell behind other Ranged specs significantly in terms of their damage both in Raids and dungeons.

WoW MoP Classic Healers Tier List

Compared to other roles, Healers felt the impact of reworks across patches the most with different specs turning from bottom to peak over the course of a few patches all the time. Nevertheless, their performance was particularly crucial in Raids and, in particular, in the Siege of Orgrimmar, patch 5.4 raid. Keep in mind that this role was not popular back then (so as in Retail), so no matter who you pick, if you are playing well, you’ll be in high demand anyway.

Panda-3

Healers S-Tier

Both Discipline Priest and Restoration Shaman were dominating the Healers’ tiers throughout Mists of Pandaria thanks to the impressive raw healing, utility, and particularly effective performance in the Siege of Orgrimmar. For example, Discipline Priests have loads of abilities that absorb damage, and encounters in the Siege favor such a type of healing very much. At the same time, Restoration Shamans are good at AoE healing which is also in high demand both in Raids and dungeons.

Healers A-Tier

A-tier healers are almost as strong as S-tier ones, but their advantages are slightly different. Mistweaver Monk has a unique mobile playstyle and a powerful healing cooldown Revival which is especially useful in Raids. At the same time, Restoration Druids have loads of HoTs that can help to manage the raid damage effectively (especially in Siege) as Restor Drus can preemptively put HoTs and compensate for sudden bursts of attacks from bosses.

Healers B-Tier

The paradox of Holy Paladin healer is that it is relatively low in efficiency both for Raids and dungeons, but in MoP it was still the most preferable option for tank healing. If you pick Holy Paladin, you will always have a spot in the raid for that purpose. Moreover, although falling behind most healers, Holy Pal also provides quite decent defensive options that can strengthen the Raid in unpredictable encounters.

Healers C-Tier

Holy Priests were regarded as the weakest healers across all patches of MoP, and the primary reason for that is their dependence on unique situations where they could be effective. Their healing is reactive and utility is quite limited compared to other healers. Moreover, they lose to Discipline in the damage, and thus cannot be particularly effective in dungeons or Challenge mode. Generally, not a pick to make if you want to play a Healer.

WoW Mists of Pandaria Tank Tier List

Tanks had to focus primarily on sustaining and surviving loads of damage in single-target encounters in Raids. The more jobs they did that helped to relieve the healers, the better. But it also means you need to consider how the role of the tank in MoP Classic is different to the one in Retail. Utility and damage play quite insignificant roles, while the defensives, management of resources, and mechanics of surviving come forward.

Panda-4

Tanks S-Tier

The players always put Blood Death Knights and Brewmaster Monks on the pedestal among tanks in Mists of Pandaria for a few reasons. Blood DK is relatively easy to play, and it is very reliable in most encounters thanks to its extremely efficient self-healing. At the same time, Brew Monks, as a new spec, were significantly buffed, although required a certain level of skill to manage Stagger. All in all, both were top picks for most players.

Tanks A-Tier

Protection Paladin is great in encounters that involve predictable outburst damage or have mechanics that can be cheesed by the bubble. Moreover, this spec also provides a lot of utility that, although not that important in this expansion, can significantly help the raid group in many situations. Guardian Druid is a nice pick as well cause with BiS gearing its straightforward mechanics of reducing damage can make it almost the best tank in the game (but good gear still needs to be looted first!).

Tanks B-Tier

Finally, Protection Warrior, although falling into B-tier, still provides a solid option for tanking, and the reason it is quite low in the tier list lies in the depending on gear. Yes, Guardian Druid feels better with BiS stuff, but Prot Warrior was basically not playable effectively at all without the nice gear in the Siege of Orgrimmar and other patches. Getting this loot is not very easy, and thus most of the time at first players who will pick this spec will struggle a lot.

F.A.Q.

What is the best class in the WoW Pandaria Classic?

Of course, it depends on the role, as for each purpose (dealing damage, healing, tanking) the best answer will be different. If you want a versatile experience, we would say Monk will be a perfect option as this newly-arrived class has buffed specs suitable for every role.

What is changing for classes and specs in the WoW MoP Classic?

For Retail players, MoP will provide a unique perspective on progression where LFRs are already available, but there are no M+, and thus the primary PvE content you are interested in are Raids. This means a stronger focus on the raid gearing, raid utility, and other aspects like single-target damage.

What is the easiest class to play in the Mists of Pandaria Classic?

This question is tough, as traditionally, quite an easy class to play is Hunter, and, particularly, Beast Mastery Hunter, but you won’t be able to max out your damage with this spec. However, you should probably pick it if you want to explore Pandaria casually.

What is the most versatile class in the MoP Classic?

It would again be Monk thanks to being the second class (after Paladin) with three specs of three different roles. However, the performance and efficiency of the specs of Monks are slightly higher, and thus as a versatile class, they are preferable.
