Beast Mastery Hunter is a ranged DPS spec built around pet uptime, Auto Shot, ranged pressure, and controlling fights from a safe distance. WoW Forever expands that identity with owner-based pet scaling, Deadly Aspects, Focused Fire, and Summon Hawk. The current beta supports an early leveling build, while complete PvE and PvP setups remain level-60 theorycraft.
Beast Mastery Hunter at a Glance
Quick choices for starting a Beast Mastery Hunter in the current WoW Forever beta.
Best Beast Mastery Hunter Talent Builds in WoW Forever
Beast Mastery is already strong at the current level-20 beta cap because most of the Hunter’s early power comes from Auto Shot and the pet. Deeper talents add Summon Hawk, Intimidation, Frenzy, and Bestial Wrath later. The starter setup below is playable now, while the PvE and PvP trees remain level-60 theorycraft.
Beast Mastery Hunter Leveling Build
Build status: Recommended Starter Build. At the current level-20 cap, use an 11/0/0 Beast Mastery setup with 5/5 Deadly Aspects, 2/2 Focused Fire, 2/2 Pathfinding, and 2/2 Improved Revive Pet.
Deadly Aspects is the main damage talent. While Aspect of the Hawk is active, Auto Shot can trigger a 30% ranged attack-speed increase for 12 seconds. Focused Fire increases all damage you and your pet deal while your pet is active, while Pathfinding makes traveling and kiting faster before mounts become available.
Improved Revive Pet is less exciting on paper, but losing a pet is one of the few things that can stop Beast Mastery’s leveling momentum. Faster and cheaper recovery makes mistakes much less expensive.
Choose any WoW Forever leveling range up to 60 and skip part of the questing and travel grind.

Hunter Beast Mastery talent build — Beast Mastery 11, Marksmanship 0, Survival 0.
11 / 0 / 0 Key talents: Deadly Aspects 5/5, Focused Fire 2/2, Pathfinding 2/2, Improved Revive Pet 2/2Beast Mastery Hunter PvE Build
Build status: Community Build, Level 60 theorycraft. The 31/20/0 setup reaches Bestial Wrath while keeping 20 points in Marksmanship for Careful Aim, Efficiency, Lethal Attacks, Rapid Killing, Trueshot Aura, and Mortal Shots.
The Beast Mastery side takes Deadly Aspects, Focused Fire, Bestial Swiftness, Unleashed Fury, Ferocity, Summon Hawk, Intimidation, Bestial Discipline, Frenzy, and Bestial Wrath. The result keeps the pet and temporary hawks as major damage sources while still improving the Hunter’s own shots.
This is a sensible raid theorycraft direction, not a confirmed level-60 meta build. Pet survivability, raid mechanics, Hit requirements, and real combat logs will decide whether Beast Mastery can compete with Marksmanship at endgame.

Hunter Beast Mastery talent build — Beast Mastery 31, Marksmanship 20, Survival 0.
31 / 20 / 0 Key talents: Bestial Wrath, Intimidation, Summon Hawk, Frenzy 5/5, Ferocity 5/5, Unleashed Fury 5/5Beast Mastery Hunter PvP Build
Build status: Community Build, PvP-oriented Level 60 theorycraft. The 32/19/0 setup makes the pet harder to kill and gives the Hunter more tools for kiting. Beast Mastery takes Endurance Training, Improved Aspect of the Monkey, Improved Mend Pet, Spirit Bond, Intimidation, Frenzy, and Bestial Wrath.
Marksmanship adds Hawk Eye, Improved Concussive Shot, Lethal Attacks, Improved Stings, and Mortal Shots. The idea is to create pressure through two bodies while the Hunter keeps distance, slows targets, and protects the pet from damage and harmful effects.
Unlike the PvE build, this setup gives up Summon Hawk and Deadly Aspects for more pet durability and control. The final PvP balance still needs level-60 battleground testing.

| Tracking Hybrid | 31/15/5 | Adds 5/5 Improved Tracking from Survival while keeping Bestial Wrath and a smaller Marksmanship package. |
| Solo Pet Build | 39/12/0 | Spends more points on pet health, recovery, Spirit Bond, and Bestial Discipline for long solo sessions. |
Best Race for Beast Mastery Hunter in WoW Forever
Hunter race balance is much closer in Forever than in original Classic. Alliance Hunters can be Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, or Skyborne. Horde Hunters can be Orc, Tauren, Troll, or Skyborne. The best choice depends on whether you value leveling speed, PvE damage, or PvP control.
| Goal | Alliance Picks | Horde Picks | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leveling | Dwarf, Night Elf | Troll, Tauren | Dwarf and Troll gain value against Beasts, while Night Elf and Tauren add movement, defense, or control. |
| PvE | Night Elf, Human | Troll, Tauren | Night Elf has a Crit cooldown, Troll has attack speed, Tauren adds Hit, and Human has useful Crit support when using swords. |
| PvP | Human, Night Elf | Orc, Tauren | Stun removal, Stun resistance, War Stomp, movement speed, and defensive utility all help a Hunter keep distance. |
Dwarf is especially useful during early leveling because Big Game Hunter adds damage against Beasts and Stoneform gives you a defensive cooldown. Troll combines Beast Slaying with Berserking and strong recovery. Tauren gets 1% Hit, extra Health, War Stomp, and Plainsrunning, which works especially well with Hunter kiting.
Skyborne is available to Hunters on both factions and brings movement and Haste utility, making it another reasonable choice if you prefer its racial package.
Best Professions for Beast Mastery Hunter in WoW Forever
| Goal | Professions | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling / Self-Supply | Leatherworking + Skinning | Hunter kills Beasts efficiently, Skinning fits naturally into the leveling loop, and Leatherworking can supply armor upgrades. |
| PvP | Engineering + Mining | Engineering adds grenades, gadgets, and extra control while Mining supplies many of its materials. |
| Raid Consumables | Alchemy + Herbalism | Provides your own Agility, Mana, healing, and other consumables for longer dungeon and raid sessions. |
Leatherworking + Skinning is especially efficient during leveling because your pet can start building threat on the next Beast while you skin the previous one. Skinning also works well with the Bountiful Harvest Legacy perk later.
Beast Mastery Hunter Stat Priority in WoW Forever
For the current level-20 beta, use Ranged Weapon Damage > Hit Chance > Agility > Critical Strike > Spirit > Intellect > Stamina as a practical leveling priority.
Your ranged weapon is the first upgrade to check because Auto Shot remains a large part of Hunter damage. Hit reduces missed shots, while Agility increases your ranged damage and Critical Strike chance. Spirit and Intellect help with Mana recovery and pool size, which matters when you are using Mend Pet and damage abilities between pulls.
At level 60, Hit is expected to remain important, followed by Agility, Crit, and Attack Power. A fixed raid Hit cap should wait for actual Forever raid testing.
What Gear Should Beast Mastery Hunter Use in WoW Forever?
Prioritize the highest-damage bow, gun, or crossbow you can use while keeping the appropriate weapon skill trained. Carry enough ammunition before leaving town, especially for longer dungeon sessions.
Hunters wear Leather early and gain Mail at level 40. Do not replace a strong Agility piece only because a Mail item has more armor. Your ranged weapon, Agility, Hit, and useful offensive stats matter more for damage than armor type alone.
There is no reliable Forever Pre-BiS list yet. Blizzard has changed itemization and dungeon loot, so old Classic Hunter gear lists should not be copied directly.
Beast Mastery Hunter Rotation and Ability Priority
The current beta rotation is intentionally simple. Your pet holds the target while Auto Shot does steady damage from range. Most mistakes come from pulling threat too early, letting the pet die, clipping Auto Shot, or spending too much Mana on enemies that are already almost dead.
How Beast Mastery Hunter Combat Works
Use this as the current beta starter loop. Summon Hawk and the deeper pet talents become available later.
Once Summon Hawk becomes available, it shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot. On a durable target, the hawk has time to use its full 18-second duration. Against an enemy that is about to die, Arcane Shot can give more immediate value.
How Pet Scaling and Summon Hawk Change Beast Mastery in WoW Forever
WoW Forever gives Hunter pets owner-based stat scaling, which directly addresses one of Beast Mastery’s biggest Classic endgame problems. Current client data contains Hunter Pet Scaling for values including pet Health, Attack Power, Hit, Critical Strike, and other combat stats. As the Hunter gains stronger gear, the pet can continue improving with it.
That matters because Forever also ties more of the Hunter’s own performance to keeping the pet active. Focused Fire increases all damage dealt by both the Hunter and pet while the pet is alive. A dead pet therefore costs more than its own damage. It also removes part of the Hunter’s personal damage bonus until the companion returns.
Summon Hawk expands the same idea. The talent summons a hawk for 18 seconds, allows up to two hawks at once, and shares its six-second cooldown with Arcane Shot. Unleashed Fury and Ferocity also apply to hawks, so Beast Mastery can temporarily fight with several pet-based damage sources instead of relying on one permanent companion.
The practical result is that pet positioning and survival may matter much more in raids than they did for many Classic Hunter builds. The design gives Beast Mastery a better path into level-60 PvE, but actual raid performance still needs boss testing and logs.
Best Legacy Talents for Beast Mastery Hunter
For leveling, Well Rested and Talented remain useful first choices. Well Rested improves rested experience, while Talented moves talent-point access earlier without increasing the final 51-point maximum.
Thrill of Adventure fits Beast Mastery particularly well for outdoor leveling because killing non-trivial enemies restores Health and Mana over time. Bountiful Harvest is useful if you take Skinning, and For Great Honor suits a Hunter built for battlegrounds. Each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points at launch.
What Changed for Beast Mastery Hunter in WoW Forever?
Forever pushes Beast Mastery further into pet-focused gameplay. Deadly Aspects connects Aspect of the Hawk to attack-speed procs, Focused Fire rewards keeping a pet active, Summon Hawk adds temporary companions, and existing pet talents such as Unleashed Fury and Ferocity now also support the hawks.
Hunter pets also gain owner-based stat scaling, which should help them keep pace as gear improves. Beast Mastery still keeps familiar tools such as Intimidation, Frenzy, and Bestial Wrath, but the new talents create more interaction between Hunter damage, pet uptime, and temporary summons.
Key New and Reworked Beast Mastery Hunter Talents
| Talent | What It Changes | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Deadly Aspects | Aspect of the Hawk lets Auto Shot proc up to 30% increased ranged attack speed for 12 seconds. | Early Beast Mastery gains a large damage window from the ranged attacks it already uses constantly. |
| Summon Hawk | Summons a hawk for 18 seconds, allows two active hawks, and shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot. | The Hunter must choose between immediate shot damage and another temporary pet-based attacker. |
| Unleashed Fury | Increases damage dealt by pets, with Forever also extending the effect to summoned hawks. | The same talent supports both your permanent companion and the new Summon Hawk mechanic. |
| Bestial Discipline | Improves pet Focus regeneration, with current Forever talent data also adding partial Mana regeneration while casting. | It supports both pet ability uptime and the Hunter’s resource economy during longer fights. |
These mechanics are present in current Forever data, but their final tuning and level-60 performance can still change as beta testing expands.
