Discipline Priest is a healer built around Power Word: Shield, single-target recovery, Mana efficiency, and preventing damage before it lands. WoW Forever gives the spec a much clearer identity through Penance, Soul Warding, Renewed Hope, and Divine Aegis while also adding a Holy-damage path for solo play. The current beta supports wand-based leveling and early dungeon healing, while complete PvE and PvP builds remain level-60 theorycraft.

Quick choices for starting a Discipline Priest in the current WoW Forever beta.
Best Discipline Priest Talent Builds in WoW Forever
Discipline changes considerably as more talent rows unlock. At the current level-20 cap, Wand Specialization and Spirit Tap provide most of the leveling efficiency. Deeper builds replace that simple wand loop with frequent shields, Penance, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis, and Power Infusion.
Discipline Priest Leveling Build
Build status: Recommended Starter Build. At the current level-20 beta cap, use 6/0/5 with 2/2 Wand Specialization, 3/5 Twin Disciplines, 1/3 Improved Power Word: Shield, and 5/5 Spirit Tap.
Take Wand Specialization first because wand attacks cost no Mana and are used on almost every solo enemy. Spirit Tap then improves recovery after a kill, reducing the amount of time you spend drinking. Twin Disciplines strengthens instant spells such as Power Word: Shield, Renew, and Shadow Word: Pain, while the first point in Improved Power Word: Shield makes your main defensive tool stronger.
The usual solo loop is simple: shield yourself, apply Shadow Word: Pain, use Holy Fire or Smite when your Mana allows it, then finish the enemy with your wand. This build can also heal current low-level dungeons without requiring an immediate respec.
Choose any WoW Forever leveling range up to 60 and skip part of the questing and travel grind.

Priest Discipline talent build — Discipline 6, Holy 0, Shadow Magic 5.
6 / 0 / 5 Key talents: Wand Specialization 2/2, Twin Disciplines 3/5, Improved Power Word: Shield 1/3, Spirit Tap 5/5Discipline Priest PvE Build
Build status: Community Build, Level 60 theorycraft. The current 33/18/0 raid-healing direction is built around Power Word: Shield, Soul Warding, Penance, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis, and Power Infusion.
Discipline takes Twin Disciplines, Improved Power Word: Shield, Mental Agility, Inner Focus, Meditation, Mental Strength, Soul Warding, Penance, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis, and Power Infusion. Holy adds Holy Specialization, Divine Fury, Inspiration, and Improved Healing to support direct healing between shields.
The build is designed to prevent predictable damage, then recover the target while Weakened Soul is active. Critical heals become more valuable because Divine Aegis turns them into another absorb. Discipline still needs normal direct healing when a tank takes sustained damage because one Power Word: Shield cannot cover every hit.

Priest Discipline talent build — Discipline 33, Holy 18, Shadow Magic 0.

Build status: Community Build, PvP-oriented Level 60 theorycraft. The current 31/20/0 setup trades some raid efficiency for survival under pressure.
Discipline takes Martyrdom, Improved Power Word: Shield, Mental Agility, Soul Warding, Penance, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis, Improved Mana Burn, and Power Infusion. Holy adds Twilight Focus, Spell Warding, Blessed Recovery, Inspiration, and Improved Healing.
This setup is built around staying alive while being attacked. Shields and Penance handle immediate pressure, Martyrdom helps against spell pushback, Spell Warding reduces incoming spell damage, and Improved Mana Burn gives Discipline another way to pressure enemy healers during longer fights.

|---|---|---|
| Shield Raid Healer | 33/18/0 | Uses Soul Warding, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis, Penance, and Holy healing talents for sustained raid support. |

| Spirit Tap Hybrid | 33/13/5 | Keeps deep Discipline and Penance while adding Spirit Tap for better recovery after kills during solo or mixed-content play. |
Best Race for Discipline Priest in WoW Forever
Fear Ward is baseline for all Priests in Forever, so Dwarf is no longer the automatic race choice it was in old Classic. Gnome currently stands out for Alliance PvE, while Troll has one of the strongest Horde healing packages. Human and Undead become more attractive when PvP is the priority.
| Goal | Alliance Picks | Horde Picks | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| PvE Healing | Gnome, Human | Troll | Gnome brings a larger Mana pool and Eureka!, Human gains Spirit, and Troll can increase casting speed with Berserking. |
| PvP | Human, Gnome | Undead, Troll | Stun removal, root immunity, Fear control, and defensive recovery can all keep a healer casting under pressure. |
| Leveling | Gnome, Human | Troll, Undead | Mana, Spirit, recovery tools, and offensive cooldowns all help reduce downtime while wand leveling. |
Gnome is particularly attractive because Expansive Mind increases maximum Mana and Eureka! can reduce the cost while increasing the effect of several damaging or healing spells. Troll gains Berserking for faster casting and strong recovery racials. For PvP, Human and Undead offer more direct answers to crowd control.
Best Professions for Discipline Priest in WoW Forever
| Goal | Professions | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling / Self-Supply | Tailoring + Enchanting | Tailoring provides cloth gear while Enchanting can supply important early wand upgrades. |
| PvE Healing | Tailoring + Enchanting | Both professions support caster gear, enchants, and the healing stats Discipline wants. |
| PvP | Engineering + Tailoring | Engineering adds control and utility while Tailoring keeps access to useful cloth crafting. |
For a fresh Priest, Tailoring + Enchanting is especially convenient because wand quality matters heavily during the early leveling phase. Engineering becomes more attractive when PvP utility matters more than self-supplying gear.
Discipline Priest Stat Priority in WoW Forever
For healing at the current beta cap, use Healing Power > Mp5 > Spirit > Intellect > Critical Strike as a practical starting priority.
Healing Power increases the value of each healing cast, while Mp5 continues working even when normal Spirit regeneration is limited by the five-second rule. Spirit becomes stronger when Meditation allows part of that regeneration to continue while casting. Intellect gives you a larger Mana pool and some Crit.
Level-60 theorycraft raises the value of Intellect and Critical Strike. Mental Strength increases total Intellect, Renewed Hope adds Crit to specific direct heals, and Divine Aegis turns critical heals into absorbs. Final stat weights still need level-60 raid testing.
What Gear Should Discipline Priest Use in WoW Forever?
While leveling, upgrade your wand aggressively. A good wand lets you finish enemies without spending more Mana and is one of the largest practical damage upgrades for the starter build.
For healing, compare cloth gear by Healing Power, Mana sustain, Spirit, Intellect, and useful Crit. A one-handed caster weapon plus an off-hand can provide an excellent stat combination, but a strong staff can be just as useful. Compare the actual items rather than forcing one weapon setup.
There is no reliable Forever Pre-BiS list yet. Current data includes the Priest Tier 1 set Vestments of Conviction, with bonuses that interact with healing and Penance, but final raid drops and complete item availability still need live testing.
Discipline Priest Healing Rotation and Spell Priority
Discipline is a proactive healer. The strongest Power Word: Shield is the one used before damage lands, not after the target has already lost most of its Health. Direct heals then cover the damage that passes through while also interacting with Weakened Soul later in the talent tree.
How Discipline Priest Healing Works
Use this as the current theorycraft healing loop. The level-20 beta can test shields and direct healing now, while Penance, Renewed Hope, and Divine Aegis become central later.
When nobody needs healing, Discipline can contribute damage. Keep Holy Fire on a durable target, cast Smite, and use offensive Penance once it becomes available. Wand attacks remain the Mana-free fallback. Damage does not automatically heal your allies in Forever, so this is not the retail Atonement playstyle.
How Renewed Hope Turns Weakened Soul Into Part of the Rotation
Renewed Hope changes Weakened Soul from a simple shield restriction into a mechanic Discipline actively plays around. Normally, Power Word: Shield leaves Weakened Soul and prevents the target from immediately receiving another shield. Soul Warding reduces the cooldown and Mana cost of Power Word: Shield, but Weakened Soul still controls how frequently the same ally can be shielded.
At full rank, Renewed Hope gives eligible direct heals 10% additional Critical Strike chance when used on a target with Weakened Soul. Each eligible heal also reduces the remaining Weakened Soul duration by five seconds. Healing the shielded player therefore brings the next Power Word: Shield window forward.
Divine Aegis makes that interaction even stronger. At 3/3, a critical heal creates an absorb equal to 15% of the amount healed for 12 seconds. Renewed Hope makes those critical heals more likely, so a target can move from Power Word: Shield into direct healing and then receive another smaller absorb before the next full shield becomes available.
This creates a clear Discipline rhythm: Shield → direct heal → Divine Aegis → next Shield. It is a much more defined healing identity than Classic Discipline, where many of the tree’s points mainly supported a Priest that still healed like Holy.
Best Legacy Talents for Discipline Priest
Well Rested and Talented are useful while leveling. Well Rested improves rested experience, while Talented lets class talent progression begin earlier without increasing the final 51-point limit.
Thrill of Adventure fits solo Priest leveling because killing non-trivial enemies restores Health and Mana over time. That works well with the wand and Spirit Tap leveling loop. Bountiful Harvest can support a gathering profession, while For Great Honor is useful if you plan to focus on battlegrounds.
What Changed for Discipline Priest in WoW Forever?
Discipline receives one of the clearest Priest identity upgrades in Forever. Penance gives the tree a signature spell that can either heal an ally or damage an enemy. Soul Warding makes Power Word: Shield cheaper and more frequent. Renewed Hope turns Weakened Soul into part of the healing loop, while Divine Aegis converts critical heals into additional absorbs.
The tree also supports offensive Holy gameplay. Power in Light rewards using Smite and offensive Penance against targets affected by Holy Fire, while Holy Precision gives Discipline dedicated Holy spell Hit. Mental Agility reduces the cost of Smite, Holy Fire, and instant spells.
Fear Ward is now baseline for every Priest, which also changes race selection. Discipline no longer needs to choose Dwarf simply to gain access to one of Classic Priest’s most important utility spells.
Key New and Reworked Discipline Priest Talents
| Talent | What It Changes | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Penance | Channels Holy energy into one target, dealing damage to an enemy or healing an ally. | Discipline gains a signature spell that works for both its healing and Holy-damage paths. |
| Renewed Hope | Eligible heals gain additional Crit against targets with Weakened Soul and reduce its remaining duration. | Direct healing helps prepare the same ally for another Power Word: Shield. |
| Divine Aegis | Critical heals create a temporary absorb shield worth up to 15% of the amount healed. | Healing Crit becomes a defensive stat instead of only increasing raw recovery. |
| Power in Light | Increases Smite and offensive Penance damage against targets affected by your Holy Fire. | Discipline gains a real Holy-damage setup for leveling and downtime between heals. |
These talents are present in current Forever beta data. Final shield sizes, Mana efficiency, stat weights, and the strongest level-60 raid build still need endgame testing.
