Different Types of Escape from Tarkov Ammo

Armor-Piercing Rounds

Jacketed rounds are a middle ground between armor piercing and hollow point ammo. Their solid point offers some piercing power, but not as much as AP ammo. They're fairly common and inexpensive, and you can find them anywhere. Examples include 5.45x39mm FMJ, 7.62x39mm PS GZh, or 9x18mm PM Pst GZh.

Tracer Rounds

Tracer rounds are designed to leave a visible trace behind them as they fly through the air. They are useful for tracking the trajectory of your shots and can help you adjust your aim. Examples 5.56x45mm M856A1, .300 Blackout M62 Tracer, or 5.45x39mm T GS.

Shotgun Slugs

12-gauge or 20-gauge rounds that contain single bullets are called slugs. They're very large and have tremendous stopping power, but are more difficult to aim. Examples include 23x75mm "Barrikada" slug, 12/70 AP-20 armor-piercing slug, or 20/70 "Poleva-3" slug.

Shotgun Shot

12-gauge shot or 20-gauge shot shells are in this category. These shells contain lots of lead balls, so they have some spread, but less damage per individual pellet. Different types of shot contain pellets of different size and quantity, which affects damage and spread. This category includes 20/70 5.6mm buckshot, 12/70 8.5mm Magnum buckshot, or 23x75mm "Shrapnel-10" buckshot.
