AION 2 Leveling Guide: What to Do Before Level 45

AION 2 Leveling Guide before Level 45 with quest route, dungeon entrance and progression path

Leveling in AION 2 is easier when you stop treating every icon on the map as a task that must be finished now. The yellow main story quests are your main route to level 45. Green quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, feathers, and other side systems matter, but most of them are better used as support when the MSQ slows down or when they sit close to your route.

The simple rule is this: if the MSQ is moving, keep going. If it blocks you, fill the gap with nearby content that gives useful power or completes the current requirement. You can come back for a full map cleanup after level 45, when more endgame systems are open and your character is stronger.

Follow the MSQ Until It Stops You

Yellow quests are the backbone of the 1-45 route. They give the main stream of XP, move you through the zones, and unlock the systems you need later. If the next yellow quest is available, there is usually no reason to stop for a long detour just because a green quest, feather, or question mark is visible on the map.

On the current Global route, the important Daeva Gauge checks appear around the low 20s and again in the low 30s. When the story asks you to fill the gauge, use nearby Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, or Strongholds instead of running across the whole region. Current Global leveling routes commonly place these walls around levels 22 and 32, although exact quest order can move with patches.

Do not confuse a temporary story wall with a signal to clear the whole map. Finish enough useful side content to continue, then return to the MSQ. This keeps your leveling route fast without leaving your character too weak for the next part of the story.

Quick rule: MSQ moving? Keep going. MSQ blocked? Fill the gap with nearby useful content, then return to the yellow quest line.

Should You Do Regional Quests While Leveling?

Green Regional Quests are worth doing when they are close to your MSQ route or when their reward solves a current problem. Global quest chains can give useful accessories, runes, titles, Theostone chests, and skill or Daevanion progress. The exact reward depends on the chain, so check the quest reward screen before making a long detour.

What you should avoid is clearing every green quest just because it exists. Many of them will still be there at 45. If a chain sends you far away from the story and the reward does not improve your current build, leave it for later.

Do It Now Leave It for 45
The quest is on your MSQ route. It sends you across the zone for a small reward.
The chain gives gear, a rune, a title, or points you can use now. Your current gear already handles the story without trouble.
You need side content to fill the Daeva Gauge. You are only doing it for map completion.

Which Sealed Dungeons Are Worth Doing Before 45?

Sealed Dungeons are one-time solo clears marked through exploration points on the map. Their rewards vary, but current Global data includes Daevanion Crystals, skill-related rewards, Enhance Stones, Kinah, titles, wing materials, and other useful items depending on the dungeon and faction.

A nearby Sealed Dungeon is a good leveling stop because the reward can improve your character immediately and the clear also helps when the story needs side progress. A dungeon on the other side of the map is different. You are not losing the reward by leaving it for level 45.

Situation Do It Now?
It is next to your MSQ route. Yes. The detour is small and the reward stays useful.
You need Daeva Gauge progress. Yes. It is one of the cleanest ways to fill a gap.
The reward gives power you need right now. Usually yes.
It needs a long trip and the MSQ is still open. No. Come back later.
You are already level 45. Yes. Start clearing the remaining one-time content.

You Do Not Need Every Feather Before 45

Empyrean Traces, usually called feathers by players, feed your regional Monolith. The Monolith gives permanent rewards, including Revelation Amulet Enhance Scrolls, attributes, titles, Hidden Cube Keys, and other materials. That makes feathers useful, but it does not mean you should stop leveling to sweep every corner of the map.

The current Global Monolith data is important here because older KR and TW guides can be misleading. The home-region Monolith has 30 stages. Its displayed requirements include 70 Trace points for stage 10, 95 for stage 12, 140 for stage 15, 235 for stage 20, and 560 for stage 30. The 560 value is a Trace-point requirement, not a rule that you must collect 560 individual feather pickups before level 45.

Target Trace Points Worth Reaching Before 45?
Monolith Stage 10 70 Yes if normal questing puts you close.
Monolith Stage 12 95 Good if only a few nearby pickups are missing.
Monolith Stage 15 140 Optional. Do not force a long collection route.
Monolith Stage 20 235 Usually better as later cleanup unless you are already close.
Monolith Stage 30 560 No. Full completion can wait until after 45.

Pick up feathers that are on your road. Stop when the next useful Monolith reward needs a large detour. That gives you steady amulet progress without turning the leveling route into a collectible run.

Should You Do Strongholds Before 45?

Strongholds matter because they are tied to Noble Belt upgrades. Current Global item data lists the Noble Belt as using Belt Enhance Scrolls from Strongholds. This is a direct reason to care about them, but it still does not make every Stronghold mandatory while leveling.

If a Stronghold is close and its reward lets you push the belt to the next useful enhancement, doing it now makes sense. If your belt is not holding you back and the Stronghold needs a long trip, leave the full sweep for level 45.

Before 45 After 45
Clear nearby Strongholds when the belt reward helps now. Finish the remaining Strongholds as part of map cleanup.
Use them when you need side progress for the story. Work toward the later Noble Belt enhancement steps.
Skip long detours made only for completion percentage. Plan a full route when travel is easier and the MSQ is done.

What Should You Upgrade Before Level 45?

Upgrade only when the current story or solo content starts pushing back. Your weapon has the biggest direct effect on clear speed, so it is usually the first place to spend. Replace weak gear when the game gives you a clear upgrade, but avoid pouring materials into every temporary armor piece.

Spend skill points on the skills you actually press. If the Daevanion Board is already available, take nodes that help your current role instead of spreading points evenly. Use Monolith rewards and Revelation Amulet upgrades when you already have the materials. Treat Stigmas the same way: work on them when the system is active for your character, not because an old KR or TW route says you should farm them at a certain level.

Priority When to Spend What It Fixes
Weapon When kills become slow or a boss becomes a DPS check. Low damage and slow clears.
Gear and enhancement When a clear upgrade is available or you are too fragile. Damage taken, weak stats, and item-level gaps.
Skills As soon as useful points are available. Weak main buttons and poor damage or healing.
Daevanion Board When unlocked and you have a clear route for your role. Missing permanent power.
Monolith and amulet When your normal route already gave enough Traces or scrolls. Permanent stats and amulet power.
Consumables When a specific wall becomes easier with food, potions, or scrolls. A hard fight without wasting permanent resources.

If you want to understand how these systems affect entry requirements later, use our AION 2 Gear Score and Combat Power guide. The useful leveling question is not “Can I upgrade this?” It is “Does this upgrade solve the problem stopping me right now?”

What Can Wait Until Level 45?

Activity Before 45 After 45 Why
Regional Quests Do useful chains on your route. Finish the backlog. You keep the rewards, but long detours slow the MSQ.
Sealed Dungeons Clear nearby useful ones. Complete the remaining map. One-time rewards stay available.
Strongholds Do them when the belt reward helps now. Finish the full sweep. Belt progress matters, map completion does not need to happen early.
Empyrean Traces Pick up feathers on the way. Finish Monolith targets. You do not need a full collectible sweep to reach 45.
Crafting and gathering Use only if it solves an immediate need. Build a proper route with our crafting and gathering guide. The MSQ gives better value for your leveling time.

If you want to skip part of the 1-45 grind rather than route it yourself, check the current AION 2 leveling options. Keep the rest of the article as your checklist for what is still worth doing before and after the cap.

Hit 45? Do This Next

Once you reach level 45, stop thinking like a leveling character. Finish the Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and Monolith goals that you skipped. Then move into your Daevanion Board, daily and weekly content, Expeditions, and the gear work that raises GS and CP for harder activities. Our AION 2 post-45 guide continues from this point without repeating the full leveling route.
