To clear the Fallen Emperor dungeon in ARC Raiders, bring an Emperor Gateway Conduit to the downed Emperor on the western side of Pendola Pass, unlock the hatch at its base, clear the electrified entrance and piston elevator, then solve the trial rooms that appear in your run. Reach the final hangar, search the payload containers for an Emperor Modulator and Amplification Modules, and leave enough time to call a Ballistic Gondola.
That is different from Redirection farming. Redirection provides the blueprint and couplers used to make the key; this guide starts with the dungeon itself. The internal room order can change between visits, so recognizing a puzzle matters more than following a fixed video timestamp. The mechanics below account for the Fallen Emperor fixes in Update 2.2.0, released October 20, 2026.
Fallen Emperor Quick Route: What Do You Need?
Decide on your goal before committing your key, equipment and raid clock. A quick quest trip and a full vault-loot run need different amounts of space and healing.
| Your objective | Do this first | When to leave |
|---|---|---|
| Open the dungeon | Carry one Emperor Gateway Conduit to the round socket at the Emperor base. A teammate can unlock it for the group. | Leave if you cannot safely enter or the remaining raid time is already low. |
| Finish Belly of the Beast | Have Shani’s quest active. Search five internal containers, follow the investigation objectives and obtain the unique Emperor loot. | Extract after the objective is credited rather than risking the item for small side caches. |
| Get an Emperor Modulator | Prioritize the final hangar and search the large payload canisters there. | Protect the first Modulator, then head to the Gondola. |
| Farm Amplification Modules | Bring more inventory capacity and check breachable containers on the way to the final hangar. | Stop once the loot is worth more than another risky room. |
| Still missing the key | Farm the blueprint and the three Couplers during Redirection, then craft the Conduit at Workbench I. | Do a key-farming raid first; do not mistake the outdoor payload for the dungeon vault. |
The early decision: if you mainly need the first Emperor Modulator to unlock Gunsmith IV, you can pursue the dungeon yourself or obtain that specific material through an existing catalog option. Neither choice makes the dungeon automatically safe, and a material order is not a dungeon-clear service.
Choose the Right Route
If your goal is Gunsmith progress, decide whether to run the dungeon or solve the missing-material problem first.
What to Bring Into the Fallen Emperor
Build around traversal, one hard ARC encounter and the exit. A valuable weapon is useful, but a missing movement tool or an empty healing slot can end the run before you reach the loot hangar.
| Equipment | Why it matters | Practical choice |
|---|---|---|
| Emperor Gateway Conduit | Opens the circular entry hatch at the base of the Emperor. | Carry one if you are opening it yourself; a squad can use a teammate’s key. |
| Grappling Hook or Snap Hook | Vertical shafts, moving containers and wide gaps demand deliberate traversal. | Bring a reliable hook and practice the controls. A Snap Hook is helpful if owned, but not a prerequisite for a first Belly of the Beast run. |
| ARC-damage weapon | Hydras guard the first corridor and can appear in later rooms. | A Hullcracker is a strong specialist pick. Otherwise bring a weapon you can control from cover and enough ammo. |
| Precise secondary weapon | Small yellow nodes must be shot to disable machinery or reveal loot. | An accurate Anvil, Renegade or another comfortable firearm is more useful here than pure spray. |
| Healing, shield charges, optional stimulant | Gas, crushing walls, shocks, lasers and falls can damage or exhaust you. | Bring supplies for hazards and reserve at least one heal for the final outdoor exit. |
| Looting augment with Safe Pocket | The Modulator is a high-value progression item. | Choose protected storage where available and leave inventory room for Amplification Modules. |
First-time quest detail: accepting Shani’s Belly of the Beast grants a Grappling Hook, while a Snap Hook is among the quest rewards after completion. It makes no sense to require a Snap Hook as an absolute prerequisite for someone doing the quest for the first time. If you already own one, it can simplify several skips, but the dungeon has climbing and jumping routes too.
Before launching, check the active map condition, repair damaged gear and agree on a retreat point with your squad. The October 13-20 PvE matchmaking test has ended; plan for a normal PvPvE lobby and other Raiders contesting the entrance, loot or extraction.
Where Is the Fallen Emperor Entrance?
The fallen giant lies on the western side of Pendola Pass. The accessible round gateway is low on the hull, near the Emperor’s base rather than high on its back. Use the map’s Fallen Emperor marker and approach from cover; the surrounding ground is exposed to other Raiders and ARC patrols.
- Enter a Pendola Pass raid carrying a finished Emperor Gateway Conduit, or join someone who can open the entrance.
- Find the circular Conduit socket next to the sealed round hatch at the base of the Emperor.
- Interact with the socket and spend the Conduit to unlock the airlock. The door opening is noticeable, so check that no one is following you.
- Get your team through together. An open entrance is not a private instance: other Raiders can enter, too.
- Keep the raid clock visible. You still have the entire interior to navigate and an outdoor extraction afterward.
Does Redirection need to be active? Redirection is the main source of key materials, not a separate button you must press inside the Emperor. The Conduit is the item that opens the door. The full outdoor Beacon and Coupler process belongs in our Redirection Guide.
The entrance floor and the final hangar are consistent, but the trials between them appear in different layouts. A room that follows the gas chamber in one attempt may come much later in another. Rather than insisting on one sequence, apply these rules:
- White-lit doors: these generally mark the onward route through the trial sequence. Confirm the accessible hatch before dropping into another shaft.
- Yellow-lit doors: these typically indicate return or exit routes. Do not take one automatically if your objective is still the final hangar.
- Yellow mechanical nodes: shooting them often disables an electrified device, activates a lift, changes a platform or reveals additional vault containers. Search the room carefully before declaring a puzzle broken.
- Blue electrified blocks: they discharge after being shot, giving a limited movement window. Do not assume the effect is permanently disabled.
- Orange or warning-lit pods: some can explode shortly after they are opened. Loot quickly and retreat at any audio or visual warning.
- Raid timer: a warning about a closing safe window means the final vault is no longer worth unlimited exploration time.
These are navigation aids rather than an infallible map. Watch for a moving wall, a disabled platform or an alternate door; the layout can change while the practical room mechanics remain recognizable.
The Fixed Opening: Hydra Corridor and Piston Elevator
1. Cross the electrified corridor
Expect exposed electrical components and a Hydra guarding the early route. Do not run straight through the center while your shield is already low. Use the wall and cover to break line of fire, then choose to fight the Hydra from a stable position or move past it with your hook if you have a clean landing. A skipped Hydra remains a threat if you backtrack.
Shoot hazardous electrical blocks from a safe distance before approaching. Wait for each discharge and move only when the path is clear. This section is a good test of the loadout: if you spend most of your healing before you reach the lift, a longer vault run may be a bad wager.
2. Make the central piston safe
The next large chamber contains a vertical piston or moving elevator. It is electrified until the relevant yellow nodes on the mechanism and around the chamber are destroyed. Walk the perimeter and look up: missing a higher node is a common reason the lift still shocks you.
- Identify and shoot the visible yellow nodes on the piston and surrounding structures.
- Verify the electrical hazard has stopped before stepping onto the moving surface.
- Ride the piston, using side platforms and ladders as needed when it pauses at intermediate levels.
- Check nearby breachable containers only if the timer and your inventory justify the detour.
- Use the upper white-lit exit to enter the randomized trials.
Update 2.2 specifically improved synchronization of moving platforms inside the Emperor. Even after this fix, never rely on a last-second jump or an old clip-through-the-wall route to protect your gear.
Fallen Emperor Dungeon Rooms: How to Solve Each Type
The order changes, so first identify the room, then follow its mechanic. This table is your fast reference when you reach a chamber you have never seen.
| Room type | Recognize it by | Safest decision |
|---|---|---|
| Pillar puzzle | Tall moving columns, ladders, hidden yellow switches | Search columns for yellow nodes; trigger a rising pillar or follow the ladder route depending on the layout. |
| Dark maze | Partitions and small ARC units such as Pops or Fireballs | Follow the available passage, clear threats and look for an unlocked exit or yellow node triggers. |
| Gas and crusher | Greenish gas, low stamina and closing walls | Trigger carefully, shelter in a recess or floor depression, then advance during the open cycle. |
| Container lift | Moving suspended cargo or a vertical track | Board only from a stable platform, move with the container and hook or jump to the marked ledge. |
| Laser tunnel | Purple rotating beams and cover objects | Read the timing, use low floor sections or cover, then cross one safe window at a time. |
| Hydra machinery | Dark, tall chamber with multiple Hydra sightlines | Prefer the high/low path to the forward hatch; engage from hard cover only when a gun controls the route. |
| Electrical shaft / chasm | Tall descent or ascent lined with blue shock blocks | Discharge dangerous blocks, descend one level at a time and maintain a safe landing route. |
Pillars and the two maze variants
One room asks you to locate yellow targets on tall pillars. Hitting the required targets starts a moving column that becomes your lift toward a high exit. In another layout, the objective is navigation rather than switches: trace the passage to a narrow vertical shaft and climb. Some dark mazes feature several yellow nodes, while others hide an unlocked door instead. Do not keep searching for switches once you recognize the no-switch version.
Pops and Fireballs can chase you through the gaps under maze walls. Keep a short-range weapon ready, but avoid firing at a large ARC across the maze if you can simply reach the correct exit.
Gas, compaction walls and the safety gap
In the crusher chamber, gas affects stamina while large walls move through the room. The hazard may start when a Raider steps onto the floor. Before you do that, identify the center-floor depression or wall recess and watch a full movement cycle. Cross while the machinery retracts, not when it begins to close.
Once past the crushing section, the path may continue over the moving structure and across higher ledges. A traversal hook is valuable here, but the objective is landing safely; making the jump before the wall finishes moving defeats the purpose of the shortcut. Update 2.2 altered the coverage of the compaction kill zones, so treat the machinery as lethal even where an older guide shows a safe corner.
Container lifts and deep vertical shafts
Some rooms carry cargo containers up or across a large shaft. Wait for one to approach a stable boardable edge; get onto it, ride it and move onto the correct intermediate platform. If the next exit is far above you, confirm your hook can reach it before jumping. In a room with multiple Hydras, a reckless climb into their line of fire is often riskier than removing one threat first.
The descending chasm is a different problem. Drop to each floor deliberately rather than combining several vertical levels into one fall. Shoot the electrified blocks before climbing or landing beside them, because they recover their charge over time.
Purple lasers and electrical machinery
The rotating purple beams can damage health and shields. Find a safe depression, container, or solid object that blocks the line of fire, wait for the sweep and cross in stages. If you own a suitable hook, an aimed crossing can reduce exposure, but plan where you will land before activating it. Do not assume every beam is harmless during an animation.
ARC generator sections work differently from lasers: shooting a blue electrical component triggers a temporary discharge. Stay back while it fires and then cross during the quiet window. Warning-lit pods can also explode after breaching, so never stand in front of one sorting your entire backpack.
Hydra rooms: fight only for a route
The Hydra is a strong area-denial ARC threat, and several can cover one room. If the high route reaches the white-lit exit without waking every turret, take it. If an active Hydra blocks the only path, engage from hard cover with ARC-effective ammunition, avoid predictable re-peeks and let your team shoot from different angles instead of standing together.
There is no need to clear every Hydra just for its ordinary loot. A good dungeon run is measured by getting your objectives and escaping, not by the number of turrets destroyed.
Final Hangar: Open the Vault and Get the Emperor Modulator
The final room is the main reason to accept the risk of the key and puzzles. After the last trial you will reach a junction; the large hangar opening takes you forward, while a nearby yellow-lit route can lead back toward the entrance system. Check the direction carefully before leaving the endgame objective behind.
- Cross onto the final platform. Wait for the large moving section to approach and use a planned landing. Rushing the gap can end the whole run after you have cleared the puzzles.
- Hide when the hangar wakes up. New ARC can enter as the doors and warning system activate. If you have cover, wait for a safe pause instead of fighting every new arrival.
- Look for six yellow controls. Community walkthroughs identify three on each side of the hangar. Shoot the visible nodes from a protected angle to progress the vault mechanism.
- React to the roof and incoming ARC. More flying enemies, potentially including a Vaporizer, can appear. Shelter and reassess before searching exposed containers.
- Wait for the unlocked canisters. Once the mechanism completes, payload storage becomes accessible. Check the large cylinders and side caches, but treat orange warning pods as potentially explosive.
- Secure your best item first. The Emperor Modulator and useful Amplification Modules are more important than an extra handful of common salvage. If you find a Modulator, protect it in a Safe Pocket if available.
Do not assume guaranteed loot: individual containers and runs vary. The Modulator is a Fallen Emperor item, but the exact cache and number of pieces are not promised. Keep checking the relevant payload containers rather than treating one empty cylinder as a bug.
Emperor Modulator and Gunsmith IV: Keep Your First One
The Emperor Modulator is a Legendary Topside Material obtained inside the Fallen Emperor. It is needed for the Gunsmith Level 3 to Level 4 upgrade at the Outpost. If your Gunsmith is not yet Level 4, selling the first Modulator for Coins works against your next progression goal.
According to the current Workshop recipe, the upgrade needs:
- 1 Emperor Modulator;
- 3 Radial Press;
- 3 Magnetic Accelerator;
- Gunsmith Level 3, with the Outpost requirement for Level 4 progression met.
Amplification Modules from the dungeon are a separate loot category and can support weapon amplification after the appropriate systems are unlocked. The Emperor Modulator is not an Amplification Module. The community item database also lists the Modulator as non-recyclable and non-salvageable. Check the full Advanced Crafting Chains Guide for the rest of the component planning rather than crafting parts blindly.
Turn the Loot Into Progress
Once the Modulator is safe, the next hurdle is the Gunsmith IV upgrade and its remaining workshop materials.
Belly of the Beast: Quest Checklist and Rewards
Belly of the Beast is Shani’s quest leading through the Emperor. If it is unavailable, check your progress on Sizing Things Up and the other prerequisites shown in the quest log before starting the run. The quest is not completed by standing next to the exterior wreck or simply collecting a Redirection Beacon.
- Accept Belly of the Beast from Shani and make sure the objectives are active.
- Obtain entry to the Emperor. Acquiring a Conduit yourself is listed as an optional objective because someone else can open the gateway.
- Inside, investigate where the Emperor’s power is coming from.
- Follow the clues about the arriving Harvester Payloads and where they are stored.
- Search five containers inside the Emperor for the quest objective.
- Obtain the unique Emperor loot from the dungeon and check that the quest tracker advances.
- Extract and return to Shani to claim the quest rewards.
The recorded rewards include a Snap Hook, a Pendola Pass Observatory Key, Shield Rechargers and Sterilized Bandages. The quest also grants a Grappling Hook when accepted. If you want to do the dungeon before taking the quest, you can still pursue general loot, but you will not retroactively complete objectives that require an active quest at the time of the action.
Update 2.2 corrected the optional objective so it checks the proper item, consistent with its quest description. If the optional step behaves oddly, verify you brought an Emperor Gateway Conduit rather than an Emperor Beacon.
Solo vs Squad: A Practical Dungeon Plan
The Emperor can be attempted solo, but a squad brings a second chance at revival and the ability to cover more angles. It also creates a new problem: a teammate activating a moving-wall trap while you are still standing in it.
| Phase | Solo approach | Duo or trio approach |
|---|---|---|
| Entering | Scan the approach and listen before spending the key. | Confirm everyone is present before one player unlocks the socket. |
| Puzzles | Read each trap cycle before committing; keep your hook ready for recovery. | One Raider calls the cycle, others wait on stable ground before following. |
| Hydras | Avoid optional fights and move from cover to cover. | Divide sightlines and do not group together under multiple guns. |
| Vault loot | Safe-pocket the Modulator or best module before filling other slots. | Assign valuable pickups and avoid splitting the team across exposed containers. |
| Extraction | Stop looting early enough to reach a Gondola without another major fight. | Meet at a single Gondola Transceiver and agree on the boarding signal. |
Getting Out: The Dungeon Is Not the Extraction
Leaving the hangar only gets you back outside on Pendola Pass. You still need to extract to Speranza. The nearby Reckless Transceiver is a commonly used Ballistic Gondola option, but a nearby exit can also draw players who watched you open the Emperor. Check the actual active extraction marker before moving; do not expect a pod to be waiting for you.
- Choose the exit from the final hangar that you can reach without another dangerous fall. Return through an interior route or upper opening according to your location and equipment.
- Heal and recharge your shield before crossing exposed ground. Keep enough stamina for the last sprint.
- Check the available Gondola Transceiver and route to its landing zone. If Reckless is contested, favor a viable alternative rather than forcing one exposed pad.
- Call the Ballistic Gondola, watch the arrival route and cover your flanks.
- Open an available pod, board and launch with enough time. Do not forget the last teammate while defending the extraction area.

Common Fallen Emperor Mistakes and Fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Best response |
|---|---|---|
| The entrance stays locked | No finished Conduit, wrong item, or a different Raider has the key. | Bring the crafted Emperor Gateway Conduit and interact with the base socket; ask a teammate to open it if they have one. |
| The piston still shocks me | One or more yellow controls remain active. | Inspect upper walls and the moving mechanism for missed nodes; stay off the surface until safe. |
| I keep going in circles | Mistaking a return door for the onward route. | Check for a large white-lit hatch; yellow-lit openings often lead out or backward. |
| Crusher kills me despite old video strategy | You entered mid-cycle or relied on old killbox gaps. | Wait for the full cycle, use clear recesses and avoid wall-collision shortcuts. |
| Cannot cross a container shaft | Unsafe grapple target or jumping before the lift reaches an edge. | Watch the platform route from safe ground and use a stable intermediate ledge. |
| Vault looks empty or contested | Containers differ or another Raider reached the room. | Check unlocked cylinders and side caches, secure what remains and extract instead of forcing a fight for guaranteed loot. |
| I have loot but cannot get home | Spent too long inside and did not plan an active Gondola. | Leave earlier on the next run; confirm available transceivers and carry healing for the route. |
Fallen Emperor FAQ
Where is the Fallen Emperor in ARC Raiders?
It is on the western side of Pendola Pass, the snow-covered map introduced with Frozen Trail. The dungeon entrance is a circular hatch low on the Emperor’s hull.
What item opens the Fallen Emperor dungeon?
The Emperor Gateway Conduit. Learn its blueprint and combine one ARC Conductive, one ARC Insulated and one ARC Plated Coupler at Workbench I, or use a completed key you already obtained. A squadmate can open the hatch for everyone.
Do I have to enter during Redirection?
Redirection is the main way to farm the Conduit blueprint and materials. Opening the dungeon itself uses the finished Conduit, so your planning question is whether you have the key and a safe raid route, not whether you still have a Beacon.
Is the room order the same in every run?
No. The entry corridor and final hangar are recognizable, while many intermediate trials use different layouts or room orders. Learn the gas, pillar, laser, container and Hydra mechanics individually.
Are the white-lit and yellow-lit doors different?
Yes. White-lit openings generally lead forward through the dungeon, while yellow-lit routes often return you toward the entry or outside. Look at the room before using any color as your only guide.
Is Snap Hook mandatory for Belly of the Beast?
No. A hook helps with traversing the puzzle rooms, but Snap Hook is among the quest completion rewards. The quest grants a Grappling Hook when accepted. Prepare your traversal approach without assuming you already own the reward item.
Can I kill the Emperor itself?
Not in the current Fallen Emperor activity. You explore a downed ARC machine and fight smaller ARC threats inside it. The dungeon is not a living Emperor boss fight.
Where does Emperor Modulator drop?
It is found inside the Fallen Emperor, including the final payload hangar. Search the unlocked containers and protect a copy once you find one. An individual container is not a guaranteed drop.
Why should I keep the first Emperor Modulator?
Gunsmith IV requires one Emperor Modulator, alongside Radial Press and Magnetic Accelerator materials. The upgrade is important for the weapon amplification progression path.
How do I finish Belly of the Beast?
Follow Shani’s active objectives inside the wreck: investigate the power and payload system, search five containers, obtain the unique Emperor loot, then extract and complete the turn-in. Missing prerequisites may require finishing Sizing Things Up first.
Does finishing the vault automatically extract my loot?
No. You must exit the Emperor, reach a valid Pendola Pass Ballistic Gondola landing zone, board a pod and successfully extract. Plan that route before spending your last healing item.
Fallen Emperor Run Checklist
- Have the right Conduit or a teammate with access; accept Belly of the Beast if doing the quest.
- Pack a working traversal hook, ARC-capable weapon, accurate firearm, healing and protected storage.
- Open the west-side hatch and clear the electrified corridor.
- Disable every yellow node at the piston and take its upper exit.
- Follow the white-lit doors and solve the gas, pillar, maze, laser, container and Hydra rooms by their mechanics.
- Reach the hangar, handle the incoming ARC, activate the yellow controls and search the valuable canisters.
- Protect the Emperor Modulator or objective item, leave the dungeon and use a Ballistic Gondola to extract.
- Turn in the quest when applicable and keep the first Modulator for Gunsmith IV.
The best Emperor run is not the one that opens the most containers. It is the one that carries the item you came for safely back to Speranza.
