Which MW4 camo challenges count in hosted bot lobbies? A challenge can only advance if the actual Multiplayer match satisfies the exact conditions shown for that weapon. A hosted lobby can give you a place to play, but buying session time does not turn every elimination into camo progress. Check the weapon, current camo tier, required action, opponent or target, and allowed match type before you book.
As of October 16, 2026, no challenge-by-challenge results have been verified in the full MW4 release build. Multiplayer launches October 23. This guide gives you a usable eligibility check and a repeatable way to confirm results after launch, without labeling untested tasks as either working or broken. For the broader difference between session types, read how MW4 hosted bot lobbies work.
MW4 Hosted Lobby Camo Checks
Check Your Exact Camo Challenge First
The most useful information is the line on the weapon’s camo screen, not the camo name alone. Two tasks can belong to the same weapon and still have different conditions. A session might be suitable for one and irrelevant to the other. Before making a plan, capture these details directly from the version of MW4 you will play.
| What to read | Why it changes the answer | What to write down |
|---|---|---|
| Exact weapon | Progress belongs to the weapon or weapon group specified by the task. | Weapon name and selected loadout |
| Available camo stage | A later objective may not be active until an earlier step is complete. | Camo Track or Mastery tier currently open |
| Required action | Ordinary eliminations do not replace a task that specifies a different action. | Exact on-screen objective, including qualifiers |
| Target type | A condition may distinguish an eligible player or target from another enemy type. | Any target wording, if present |
| Game mode and match | Multiplayer-only activity is not interchangeable with a DMZ or Warzone Mastery task. | Required mode, playlist or match rule, if specified |
| Progress counter | A before-and-after comparison tells you whether this particular task was credited. | Counter before the match and after completion |
Do not guess the final number of kills, weapons or completed tiers from MWII, MWIII or other Call of Duty titles. Modern Warfare 4 has its own progression system. Activision’s Multiplayer and weapon camo overview confirms the shared Camo Track and separate mode Masteries, not a release-tested list of objectives that a specific hosted lobby can complete.
Which Types of Objectives Are Worth Checking?
You can sort your current objective into three groups: tasks that could match a Multiplayer session if the game’s counter credits them, tasks that need another mode, and tasks that require a different activity or an earlier unlock. This is an eligibility framework, not a list of tested successes.
| What your objective requires | Decision before booking | Result status |
|---|---|---|
| A specified action using your selected gun in Multiplayer | Check the exact action, target and hosted match type. | Potential candidate; not tested in the release build |
| Progress on a weapon’s shared base Camo Track | Check which current task is active and what the chosen match credits. | Shared system confirmed; lobby-specific credit not tested |
| Multiplayer Mastery progress toward Orion Reforged | Check the unlocked Mastery stage and its exact conditions. | Multiplayer route confirmed; individual task eligibility not tested |
| DMZ Mastery progress toward Helio | Use the DMZ requirements for that Mastery challenge. | Not a Multiplayer Mastery task |
| Warzone Mastery progress toward Empyros | Use the Warzone-specific requirements once the system is available. | Not a Multiplayer Mastery task |
| A task that names a different playlist, opponent or match result | Confirm the hosted session satisfies every named condition. | Unverified until the specific conditions are checked |
If your objective appears compatible with Multiplayer, the next decision is whether you want to play through the eligible task yourself or have a defined camo result completed by a booster. These are separate purchases; the MW4 Bot Lobbies service sells hosted selfplay session time, not a guaranteed completed Mastery tier.
Play Your Multiplayer Challenges or Order a Camo Result?
A hosted lobby gives you Multiplayer session time to work on your own eligible objectives. A camo completion order is a different service. Check the exact challenge conditions before choosing.
Tested Challenges and Results: What Is Verified?
The current answer is deliberately narrow: there are no published launch-build hosted-lobby counter tests to rely on as of October 16. We therefore cannot responsibly call a particular task “Counted in this test” or “Did not count in this test.” A task with no evidence is Not tested, not a failed task.
Once the full game is playable, an individual result needs more than a clip of a successful kill. A useful test starts with an active, readable challenge and ends with that same task’s counter after the match. For comparison across sessions, the evidence should include:
| Evidence | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Weapon and exact task text | The outcome belongs to a specific challenge, not camo farming in general. |
| Earlier tier and prerequisite | The task was unlocked and eligible to register. |
| Match format, map or playlist | The result applies to the kind of session actually played. |
| Counter before and after | A change occurred in the relevant camo counter, not only in Weapon XP. |
| Build, date and platform | The report can be compared against a later update or differing environment. |
| Sample size and recorded evidence | One successful or unsuccessful trial is not generalized to every gun or playlist. |
The labels are simple: Counted in this test means the recorded counter advanced; Did not count in this test means it did not under the documented conditions; and Not tested means no relevant trial is available. Neither of the first two labels is a promise that a later patch or a different weapon behaves identically.
Why Multiplayer Results Do Not Replace DMZ or Warzone Mastery
Activision has explained the structure: weapons have a Camo Track that spans Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, then three distinct Mastery Camos in each mode. The shared early work can prepare a weapon, but the last steps belong to the specified game experience.
For a DMZ goal, check the separate DMZ Mastery route and follow the dedicated Helio camo guide. A hosted Multiplayer kill cannot stand in for a DMZ-only objective. Likewise, check the Warzone Mastery route independently; Warzone integration begins with MW4 Season 1, rather than being identical to Multiplayer launch access.
For Multiplayer, the revealed Mastery sequence finishes with Orion Reforged. If that is your target, the Orion Reforged unlock guide explains the preparation route. What still determines hosted-lobby suitability is the precise active challenge displayed in your own game.
Plan a Session Around the Challenges You Have Left
A short preparation list is more valuable than booking a long session and discovering that your next tier was locked. Use this order before committing to a time slot:
- Choose one weapon and one objective. Record the exact on-screen text and the starting camo counter.
- Confirm the prerequisite. Make sure the challenge is active rather than only displayed as a locked future reward.
- Prepare the loadout. Unlock the weapon and the attachments that make its required action comfortable; use our MW4 weapon leveling guide if you are missing progression first.
- Ask about that challenge, not all camos. Give support the task text and confirm the hosted Multiplayer match format matches its stated requirements.
- Pick a session length you can actually play. You control the character throughout the selfplay session. The purchase is time in the arranged Multiplayer lobby, not an automatic set of camo unlocks.
- Check your first result before repeating. Reopen the same camo counter after the match. If it advances, you have evidence for that specific task and conditions.
The best first use of a hosted lobby is a task you understand and can verify. Once the requirement is clear, choose an MW4 Multiplayer lobby session suited to the time you have available.
What to Do If the Counter Does Not Move
If you completed actions in the match but the camo number stayed still, check the simplest mismatch before calling it a bug. A kill, a weapon level and a camo objective are different things. Use the game’s exact wording as the reference point:
| What happened | First thing to check |
|---|---|
| XP increased, camo counter did not | Whether the active task called for the action, target and weapon you used. |
| You used a different gun during the match | Whether the objective is attached to that gun rather than the loadout in general. |
| An earlier stage is unfinished | Whether the next Mastery task was available at all. |
| You played a different mode or activity | Whether the objective specifically requires Multiplayer, DMZ or Warzone. |
| One test showed no change | Whether the before/after counter was captured for the same task, build and completed match. |
Keep a screenshot of the challenge before starting, then capture its state again afterward. If all stated requirements match and the counter still does not advance, provide that evidence to support. A single non-registering attempt is not a reason to assume every task or every hosted lobby behaves the same way.
Hosted Lobby or Camo Completion Service?
There is a straightforward dividing line. Choose a hosted selfplay lobby when you want to play and have a Multiplayer objective suitable for that session. Choose a camo completion service when the goal is a specific finished camo on agreed weapons and you would rather have a booster do the work.
Neither replaces reading the challenge. If the final reward you want is Orion Reforged, confirm which weapon tiers remain. If you need Helio or a Warzone Mastery reward, do not substitute a Multiplayer session for that mode’s final objectives.
