There are 140 standard collectibles in Gears of War: E-Day, distributed across five Campaign Acts. They include COG Tags, newspapers, personal keepsakes and military records. Pick up all 140 on any difficulty to meet the collectible requirement for the Memories From E-Day achievement. This guide lists every named entry with a practical landmark, chapter counts and the handful of transitions most likely to leave your War Journal one item short.
Important: this is the standard Collectibles checklist, not a combined list of Hard Cases, Supply Caches or Secondary Objectives. Those have separate counters and rewards. Later chapters and some collectible names contain story spoilers.
All Collectibles by Act: Quick Counts
| Act | Chapter Counts | Total | Running Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Act 1 | 3 / 4 / 2 / 4 | 13 | 13 |
| Act 2 | 5 / 27 / 5 / 0 / 1 | 38 | 51 |
| Act 3 | 5 / 6 / 14 / 3 / 5 / 3 | 36 | 87 |
| Act 4 | 13 / 2 / 14 / 5 / 2 / 5 | 41 | 128 |
| Act 5 | 1 / 3 / 0 / 5 / 3 | 12 | 140 |
| All Acts | 26 Chapters | 140 | 140 / 140 |
For a missing count, check the chapter first. Hold the Line has 27 entries; Last Foothold and Tough as Nails have 14 each. The Flyboys and Storm Clouds chapters contain no standard collectibles.
How to Find and Track Collectibles
- Open the War Journal. Compare the act and chapter counters before selecting a replay. A missing chapter entry matters more than the overall 139/140 number.
- Use Tac-Com and listen. A brief audio cue helps reveal nearby pickups; on a controller, the default LB scan can highlight items. Search side rooms, bodies, benches and shelves even when the objective points elsewhere.
- Do optional work before leaving the district. Some collectibles are inside optional routes or available only after an objective opens an area.
- Record your chapter total before moving on. Revisit an incomplete chapter through chapter select rather than restarting the entire campaign; keep your primary save intact.
If you are planning a campaign clear with the collectibles included, our Gears of War: E-Day Campaign Boost has a separate All Collectibles option. Select the acts and the extra you actually need; buying just a story clear does not imply collectible completion.
Jump to an Act
Act 1 (13) | Act 2 (38) | Act 3 (36) | Act 4 (41) | Act 5 (12)
Act 1 Collectibles: 13 Locations
The opening four chapters teach the pattern: stop after a fight, enter an obvious side room, and inspect fallen Gears. Pay attention to the pair of items in the recruitment center. Checkpoint: 13/140 when this act is complete.
Chapter 1: Emergence (3)
- Monster Jaw — Following the opening street battle, search next to the news kiosk on the right.
- Bloody Transit Worker's Helmet — Leave the tunnel's main passage for the side room on the left; the helmet is near a body.
- Front Page of the Kalona Times — Go into the Cafe and Bakery before the police station and inspect its kitchen worktop.
Chapter 2: Survival of the Fittest (4)
Route note: Two of these four pickups share the recruitment area. Do not leave after finding only the pamphlet.
- KPD Police Bulletin — At KPD headquarters, check the desks along the left of the main office, toward the back.
- Bloodied Police Chief's Badge — Look on the floor immediately below the chief's body displayed on the wall.
- Army Recruitment Pamphlet — In the recruitment center, examine the rear desk underneath the COG insignia.
- Try On Pilot Helmet — At that same recruitment display, interact with the third helmet on the right.
Chapter 3: A Gear in Need (2)
- Tomatoes, Canned — Inside the supermarket's warehouse rooms, search low beside the shelving on the left.
- Broken Lancer Bayonet — Once Tai's supermarket scene ends, inspect the nearby corpse before taking the exit.
Chapter 4: Back in the Fold (4)
- Front Page of the Tyran Chronicle — Find the large Lounge sign and step into the small recess off the road to its right.
- Anti-UIR Propaganda Poster — Before going into the hospital, take the side steps to the graffiti-covered wall.
- Landa Memorial Medical Supplies Memo — Search the right-hand desk in the hospital's little reception office.
- COG Tags of Private Brick Rosso — On your way to Echo Park, circle the police car and check the fallen Gear nearby.
Act 2 Collectibles: 38 Locations
A much wider sweep. Hold the Line moves through stores, rooftops, apartments and optional objectives; do not treat its 27 pickups as one short linear route. Checkpoint: 51/140 when this act is complete.
Chapter 1: Bravo Squad (5)
- COG Helmet With Bullet Hole — Before passing the bridge gate, look behind the bus beside the dead soldier.
- Sniper Goggles — In the western bridge-control room, take the left passage to the dead Locust.
- Bridge Worker's Lunch Kit — Drop down the Skytrain access ladder; search the work barriers to the left.
- Thrashball RUSH Magazine — At the eastern control room, look on the trolley away from the central controls.
- Medic's First Aid Kit — Following the Boomer encounter, check the lower bridge deck near the burning military truck.
Chapter 2: Hold the Line (27)
Route note: Take this as a district checklist rather than a strict one-way route. Mags' photograph and harmonica are credited by story progress; Lone Wolf and the bank vault require their respective objectives.
- Cinema Filmatica Magazine — Explore Iron Coast Motors' rear showroom office; check the counter near the radio.
- A Letter Home — During the Trapped Family objective, enter the Last Dollar Store and search its inside corridor.
- Thrashies Cereal Box — Go into the Timgad Prime station store; the box sits around the checkout.
- Kalona Postcard — Near Octus Way Station, go up the steps into the plaza and examine the stone bench area.
- Foreman's Datapad — In the construction zone, find the foreman's body at the lowest accessible level.
- Vandalized Salvaging Poster — Stop at Major Burger and check the restroom wall.
- COG Tags of Private Liz Waxman — Use scaffolding by Bank of Tyrus to reach an apartment balcony via a shattered window.
- Emgazi Blitz Display Case — Explore the apartment block close to the bank; search a third-floor bedroom desk.
- Birthday Card with Toy Lancer — Below Bank of Tyrus, inspect the river-facing body near the parking tunnel bench.
- Kalona Metro Fare Notice — At the underground entrance by Grind Coffee, examine the wall across from the barriers.
- Tales from the Tyran Night Story Book — Climb the Apartment SOS building to floor four and check the lit tabletop.
- Major Burger Box — Return to Major Burger; this item is around the sink in its back kitchen.
- COG Tags of Specialist Brendan O'Connell — Check the body in the street on the north side of the Financial District.
- COG Tags of Master Sergeant Mark Avamor — Search the loading area south of the bank on the Warehouse District side.

- COG Tags of Specialist Arnold Imhatip — Explore the lower route beneath the street between the warehouse area and bank.
- Timgad Refinery Recruitment Poster — At the building marked by a hotel sign near the east bridge, check beside the lift.
- Re: Vibration Complaints — Near Imulsion Stockpile, enter the live-music venue and examine the note at the door.
- Photograph and Harmonica from Mags' Apartment — Story reward: finish Get Mags' Meds and its apartment scene; it is one journal entry.
- War Savings Bond — During Find Dr. Dalia Fabbri, open the Bank of Tyrus vault and inspect inside.
- COG Tags of Specialist Jada Clemmons — Inside Grind Coffee, reach the service area behind the counter.
- Pendulum Wars Victory Flag — Near the Kalona Hotel and crashed ambulance, search the newsstand.
- Child's Monster Drawings — Enter the grocery shop en route to the hotel; inspect the rear storeroom.
- Holiday Photos — At the Monroe Library rendezvous area, check under the bench beside the kiosk.
- Muster Point Instructions — Look at the wall near the phone booth on the hotel approach.
- COG Tags of Sergeant Elijah Adams — Complete Lone Wolf, then search the defeated sniper's body for the tags.
- Portrait of Chairman Tomas Dalyell — Before talking to Corporal Harris at Kalona Hotel, look along its second-floor hall.
Chapter 3: No Gear Left Behind (5)
- COG Tags of Private Sal Harkniss — After meeting Charlie Squad, look beneath the overpass by the fallen soldier.
- COG Tags of Private Siv Strickland — At the same stop, inspect the body caught against the van.
- Bloodied Spike — Under the elevated train line, check the impaled body near the Beer and Wine sign.
- Ink-Covered Wrench — At the square with the gold statue, search by the benches on the left.
- COG Tags of Lieutenant Jane Hawkins — After Captain Grey speaks, examine the shrouded bodies on the right before the gate.
Chapter 4: Flyboys (0)
No standard collectibles are registered in Flyboys. Do not spend time trying to force a 0/0 chapter into the 140 total.
Chapter 5: Overrun (1)
- Point Fairlight Hangar Data Pad — Inside the hangar, sweep the left-hand side before proceeding to the next story section.
Choose How to Finish the Missing Pickups
Hold the Line contains 27 collectibles by itself. For a long chapter replay, decide whether you want full collectible coverage, flexible help, or a stronger DIY loadout.
Act 3 Collectibles: 36 Locations
The strongest traps are underground, the Last Foothold side missions and the late Fort Vigil transition. One letter appears physically at the start of the following act but belongs to this act in the journal. Checkpoint: 87/140 when this act is complete.
Chapter 1: Stranded (5)
- COG Army Knife — At the woodland split, check the tree just beyond the first mauled camper before descending.
- Fairlight Rifle Range Sign — Near the fenced military ground, examine the wall by the tank and closed gate.
- Gut-Puncher Grenade Rounds — Outside the airfield warehouse, check the crates beside the first Supply Cache.
- Prepper's Scavenging Map — At the electrical substation entrance, search the gap between the generators.
- UIR Soldier Shooting Target — Walk along the fence behind the substation and inspect the damaged target.
Chapter 2: Enemy Lines (6)
Route note: If you have five of six, inspect the sewer basin near its Supply Cache for Erick Davis' tags.
- Damaged Gnasher Shotgun — In the first red-lit cave, take the upward right branch to the military cases.
- Parchment and Powder Pouch — Search the crates along the left path of the brighter Locust supply cave.
- Parchment with Indecipherable Writing — After the underground train encounter, look under the stairs on the right.
- Maintenance Worker's Bloodied Flashlight — Follow the darker subway track away from the mission marker to its debris-filled end.
- COG Tags of Private Beth Avila — Before crossing the destroyed train cars, enter the stairwell and inspect the bodies.
- COG Tags of Private First Class Erick Davis — In the broad sewer basin, check the fallen Gear beside the Supply Cache.
Chapter 3: Last Foothold (14)
Route note: Blade-like Projectiles are an actual pickup during Rooftop Mayday. Completing the objective is not a substitute for checking the scaffolding.
- COG Tags of Sergeant First Class Robin Hamill — Back above ground, inspect the taxi area by Kalona Theatre's glowing Emergence Hole.
- COG Tags of Corporal Tracy Moore — Under the Skytrain, enter the wrecked apartment building and check its rear room.
- Colonel Trench's VIP List — Pause at the abandoned COG post; examine the desk inside the command tent.

- Portrait of Chairman Jacob Monroe — After the Wretches, use the crawl opening along the apartment corridor.
- Sanctum of the Fallen Memorial Ceremony Program — At the rooftop courtyard, check the planter beside the outer edge.
- Locust Spiked Shoulder Pad — On the route back toward street level, search the dead Locust near the balcony and tree.
- Explosive Bolt — After the Torque Bow enemies, reach the clock tower's highest accessible floor.
Chapter 6: Desperate Measures (3)

- Morith Harbor Snow Globe — During the pursuit, go through the gift shop and check its service desk.

Stuck at 35/36 in Act 3? Check the Fort Vigil truck near the start of Act 4 for Commander’s Letter Home before replaying all six chapters. The physical pickup and its journal grouping do not line up neatly at that transition.
Act 4 Collectibles: 41 Locations
The largest act by total pickups. Your priority is the first train stop in Technical Difficulties and the optional factory objectives in Tough as Nails. Checkpoint: 128/140 when this act is complete.
Chapter 1: Hope and Ruin (13)
Route note: The opening Hank Rustin tags are automatic. The nearby Commander's Letter Home is a separate Act 3 entry, not a fourteenth pickup for this chapter.
- COG Tags of Sergeant Major Hank Rustin — Added by the opening story event; there is no separate body to hunt.
- Message from The Coalition — Before leaving the opening memorial, inspect the podium.
- COG Tags of Sergeant Betsy Barnes — Cross the bridge and turn left toward the wrecked vehicle and fallen soldier.

Chapter 2: Technical Difficulties (2)
Route note: Leave the train at the stop and search immediately. Both pickups need to be resolved before continuing.
- COG Tags of Sergeant Aman Landry — At the first train stop, step out and check the body near the second exit before reboarding.
- No. 80 Graffitied Poster — At the blocked-track stop, enter the tunnel on the right and examine its left wall.
Chapter 3: Tough as Nails (14)
Route note: The Imulsion Blast Charge requires a manual pickup after Special Cargo. Also search the final optional factory area for the closure sign.
- Young Artists Night Poster — As the larger district opens, take the first left-hand street and scan the wall.
- Maranday Apple Brandy Bottle — Continue north from the poster, watching the ground along the road.

- Dalia Fabbri's Research Journal — Examine the last room carefully before beginning the boss encounter.
Act 5 Collectibles: 12 Locations
A shorter final list with 12 entries. Two final rewards are story-granted, and the final chapter names can spoil the ending. Checkpoint: 140/140 when this act is complete.
Chapter 1: One Problem at a Time (1)
- COG Tags of Private Lorin Galvin — Following the train section, inspect the left of the path before the park.
Chapter 2: Ghost Town (3)
- COG Tags of Specialist Wallace Teale — From the chapter start, take the left path to the containers and search the body.
- Clinical Test Trial Medication — In the hospital, find the surgery room upstairs and inspect its desk.
- COG Tags of Master Sergeant Joseph Kopec — During the escape, check the uppermost burning apartment before moving on.
Chapter 3: Storm Clouds (0)
Storm Clouds has zero standard collectibles; continue without a scavenger detour.
Chapter 4: Resolute (5)
- COG Tags of Lieutenant Enola Tabaaha — Before meeting Michaelson, check the left side of the adjoining room.

Show the 3 ending-spoiler collectibles

- COG Tags of Sergeant Bryce Valen — Granted automatically by the final boss sequence.
- Carlos Santiago's COG Tags and Photo — Automatically recorded upon completing the ending; major story spoiler.
Missing One Collectible? Use This Cleanup Order
Do not comb every street again just because your total says 139/140. First use the War Journal to identify the incomplete act and chapter, then check the unusual triggers below.
| If Your Journal Shows… | Check This First |
|---|---|
| Act 1, Survival of the Fittest: 3/4 | Return to the recruitment center: pamphlet and pilot helmet are different entries. |
| Act 2, Hold the Line: 26/27 | Revisit optional-access interiors, Lone Wolf, the bank vault and Mags' story scene. |
| Act 3, Enemy Lines: 5/6 | Look for Erick Davis' COG Tags beside the sewer Supply Cache. |
| Act 3, Last Foothold: 13/14 | Check the Rooftop Mayday scaffolding for Blade-like Projectiles. |
| Act 3: 35/36 across chapters | Check Commander's Letter Home by the Fort Vigil truck at the act boundary. |
| Act 4, Technical Difficulties: 1/2 | Revisit the first train stop and the graffitied tunnel wall. |
| Act 4, Tough as Nails: 13/14 | Verify both the post-Special Cargo pickup and the optional factory floor. |
| Act 5, The Fall of Kalona: 1/3 | The final two collectibles are credited through the ending events. |
What Do the 140 Collectibles Unlock?
The 140 standard collectibles complete the requirement for Memories From E-Day (15 Gamerscore). Xbox specifies that you may collect them on any campaign difficulty; Insane is not required for this particular achievement.
Four types of campaign completion progress should not be merged:
| Category | What Counts | Associated Achievement |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Collectibles | 140 named items, including COG Tags | Memories From E-Day |
| Hard Cases | Separate hidden containers | Relax. I’m the Map. |
| Supply Caches | Unlock the required Supply Cache items; visiting a location alone may not complete it | Quartermaster |
| Secondary Objectives | Finish the campaign’s optional tasks | Side Piece |
For other unfinished achievements, E-Day Achievements Boost lets you choose specific unlocks. If you need an entire Campaign sweep, the Campaign Boost configurator lets you select All Collectibles, All Hardcases and All Secondary Objectives individually for the acts you order.
Finish the Rest of Your E-Day Completion Goals
Memories From E-Day is only the standard collectible task. Decide whether you still need specific achievements, a full campaign objective sweep, or another gameplay guide.
Gears of War: E-Day Collectibles FAQ
How many collectibles are in Gears of War: E-Day?
There are 140 standard Campaign collectibles in five acts: 13 in Act 1, 38 in Act 2, 36 in Act 3, 41 in Act 4 and 12 in Act 5.
Can I return for collectibles I missed?
Yes. Use the War Journal to identify the chapter with a missing entry, then revisit it with chapter select. Keep your existing campaign save until you have checked that your progress is recorded.
Do I need to play on Insane to earn Memories From E-Day?
No. Xbox lists the standard collectible achievement as completable on any difficulty. Other achievements can have harder campaign requirements.
Are COG Tags included in the 140 total?
Yes. COG Tags are ordinary named collectibles for the journal, not a separate additional counter.
Why does Act 3 show 35/36 after I have searched every chapter?
Commander's Letter Home is filed under Act 3 but is physically found beside the truck around the Fort Vigil transition into Act 4. Check that spot first.
Do Hard Cases count toward Memories From E-Day?
No. Hard Cases belong to a different achievement, Relax. I'm the Map. Supply Cache item unlocks and Secondary Objectives are separate tasks too.
Which chapter has the most E-Day collectibles?
Hold the Line in Act 2 has 27 standard collectibles, making it the largest single-chapter sweep in the published launch guides.
