The practical way to farm Merchant’s Favor in WoW Forever is to acquire Waylaid Crates, fill each one with the lowest-cost accepted material bundle, and deliver the sealed shipment to your faction’s supply camp. A useful baseline is the green Journeyman Parts shipment filled with four Bronze Frameworks. It awarded 20 Merchant’s Favor in the October beta, and crafting the Frameworks was often cheaper than buying finished parts. Which crate is best after launch will depend on actual prices and confirmed rewards.
Quick route for the November 4 release: compare green Journeyman Parts with other crates on your Auction House, obtain four Bronze Frameworks if that bundle wins, seal the crate, and deliver it to Dokimi west of the Crossroads (Horde) or Marcy Baker at Three Corners, Redridge (Alliance). The method is documented in beta data; a live-server payout or price has not yet been established. Use one low-cost test shipment before buying materials for a large batch.
Important crafting detail: the Forever Bronze Framework recipe lists two Frameworks per craft. If this yield remains unchanged at release, a four-Framework shipment takes two crafting operations rather than four. The shipment’s silver refund also reduces its net cost. Both details matter more than a crate’s apparent listing price.
Release status (October 30, 2026): Blizzard closed the Level-30 beta on October 23. The full level 1–60 release is scheduled for November 4, 2026. This guide preserves observed beta crate rewards, Forever client records and an illustrative October market comparison. There is no verified launch-server Auction House price, Artisan payout or final crafting economy yet. The method and calculations remain useful for planning, but live values may differ.

Merchant’s Favor Farming at a Glance
| Question | Beta Evidence / Release Guidance |
|---|---|
| What earns Merchant’s Favor? | Delivering filled Waylaid Crates to the Alliance or Horde supply faction; the introductory Shipping Label gives a separate one-time reward. |
| Best starting candidate | Green Journeyman Parts + 4 Bronze Frameworks; compare the live net cost per Favor with other shipments before repeating. |
| Favor from that crate | 20 per completed green Journeyman shipment in October beta records; the launch payout is not yet verified. |
| First-time bonus | 50 Favor from the introductory Shipping Label quest once per character in beta data; not a repeatable crate bonus. |
| Horde turn-in | Dokimi, Durotar Supply and Logistics, west of the Crossroads in The Barrens. |
| Alliance turn-in | Marcy Baker, Azeroth Commerce Authority, Three Corners, Redridge Mountains. |
| Long-term objective | Recipes, titles and collectibles. Pack Kodo is listed at 6,000 Favor, plus level 60, riding and Exalted supply-faction standing. |
Merchant’s Favor is not gold or supply-faction reputation. An Engineering-parts crate can help pay for an Alchemy or Enchanting recipe, but the vendor may also require profession skill and faction standing. Filled crates primarily earn Favor; Craftsman’s Writs are the main recorded repeatable reputation route. For reputation ranks, Writ rewards and Forged Delivery Receipts, use the separate WoW Forever Supply Faction Reputation Guide. If you are still choosing a craft, compare the options in our Profession Tier List.
Fastest Way to Farm Merchant’s Favor: Journeyman Parts
This is a practical launch-day plan for a player who wants a specific recipe and has some gold for crates or materials. Buying an available crate can save time compared with waiting for a random drop. A self-found crate uses less cash but still has a sale value, so compare both options by actual cost and time. The route below is based on October beta observations, not a confirmed November market.
- Choose your target before shopping. Read the recipe or collectible vendor price and its level, profession, riding or reputation gate. Subtract your existing Favor, and count the introductory Shipping Label bonus only if your character is still eligible for that one-time reward.
- Find the correct shipment. On an active realm, search the Auction House for Waylaid Crate: Journeyman Parts. Green sealed Journeyman shipments paid 20 Favor in beta. Do not assume every crate labeled “Journeyman” has the same result; match the material list and sealed quality.
- Price all four accepted bundles. The item currently accepts 8 Bronze Tubes, 7 Whirring Bronze Gizmos, 4 Bronze Frameworks, or 45 Gold Power Cores. One complete bundle is enough; you do not need every ingredient from all four options. Check the current item list on Wowhead.
- Buy or craft four Bronze Frameworks if they win the price comparison. The Forever recipe shows Engineering 145, using 2 Bronze Bars + 1 Medium Leather + 1 Wool Cloth to produce 2 Bronze Frameworks. Therefore, four Frameworks require two crafts: 4 Bronze Bars, 2 Medium Leather and 2 Wool Cloth, assuming the displayed yield has not changed.
- Fill the crate in your bag. Use the shipment with the selected full material bundle. Verify the resulting sealed crate and its reward category before preparing many copies.
- Hand it in at your faction camp. Horde characters visit Dokimi west of the Crossroads; Alliance characters visit Marcy Baker at Three Corners. Recorded beta green Journeyman turn-ins returned 20 Favor and 10 silver, consistent with dated Wowhead comments. The first live shipment establishes whether that return still holds for your character.
- Repeat only while it remains your cheapest viable method. Recalculate after every sizeable purchase. When Frameworks or green crates spike in price, an Apprentice Fabrics, Apprentice Curiosities or another Journeyman shipment may be a better deal.
For characters without Engineering 145: you do not need to drop your current professions to run this route. Check the price of ready-made Frameworks and compare it with buying materials plus arranging a craft from another player. Remember to include any tip. Alternatively, use a crate that accepts materials you already gather.
How Much Does Merchant’s Favor Cost? A Worked Example
The valuable metric is net silver spent per Merchant’s Favor, not the apparent price of the Waylaid Crate. Count all materials, purchased crafts and tips, then subtract the silver actually returned by the turn-in.
Formula: (crate purchase price + cheapest material bundle + crafting costs or tips − confirmed turn-in silver) ÷ Merchant’s Favor awarded.
Historical October example, not a launch price quote: one beta video showed a green Journeyman Parts crate at 10 silver, four ready-made Frameworks at 29 silver each, and per-craft ingredients at 8.30 silver for Bronze Bars + 2.69 silver for Medium Leather + 1 silver for Wool Cloth. Those inputs total 11.99 silver per craft, not the 11.89 silver mentioned in the recording. Use your own Auction House listings instead of copying these dated amounts into a release budget.
| Same 20-Favor Crate | Buy 4 Frameworks | Craft 4 Frameworks (2 per craft) |
|---|---|---|
| Crate purchase | 10s | 10s |
| Framework cost | 4 × 29s = 116s | 2 × (8.30s + 2.69s + 1s) = 23.98s |
| Gross outlay | 126s | 33.98s |
| Beta turn-in silver | −10s | −10s |
| Net per completed crate | 116s | 23.98s |
| Net per Favor | 5.80s | about 1.20s |
This difference depends on the two-output Forever recipe and a 10-silver refund, both documented before release. A small first shipment is a safer test than buying dozens of crates based on beta figures. If the live recipe creates only one Framework per craft, the material requirement for four Frameworks doubles; travel, auction fees, crafting tips and unsold stock also affect your true cost.
Under the recorded beta payouts, five green Journeyman shipments grant 100 Favor without Legacy bonus procs. At the historical prices above, buying finished Frameworks costs 5g 80s net for those five; self-crafting costs about 1g 20s net. These are examples of the calculation, not estimated costs on November 4.
The Auction House Break-Even Check
For each crate on your market, write down four values: crate price, cheapest accepted bundle, expected silver refund and Favor reward. Then compare the resulting silver-per-Favor number. Avoid the trap of calling a crate “cheap” just because its listing is inexpensive: a 1-silver shipment asking for 20 Iron Ore can cost far more than a 20-silver crate that accepts common cloth.
If you gather materials yourself, use the price you could have sold them for, not zero, when measuring economic efficiency. Self-farming is excellent when your gold balance is low, but a stockpile still has opportunity cost. Likewise, a 20-Favor reward is not automatically better than a 10-Favor reward if the higher-tier shipment costs three times as much to fill.
All Tested Waylaid Crate Tiers and Merchant’s Favor Rewards
Do not confuse an unopened crate’s name with the reward for its sealed shipment quality. The table records beta turn-ins, including an October 7 Wowhead community update, and provides a way to compare tiers once live-server results are available. These figures are not a guarantee for November 4.
| Sealed Crate | White / Common | Green / Uncommon | Level Gate for Unfilled Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 5 Favor, 2s 50c reported | 10 Favor, 5s reported | 10 |
| Journeyman | 10 Favor, 5s reported | 20 Favor, 10s reported | 10 |
| Expert | 15 Favor, 7s 50c reported | 30 Favor, 15s reported | 20 |
| Artisan | No validated payout | No validated payout | 35 (intended level gate) |
Artisan rewards remain unverified. The October video speculated about higher amounts without demonstrating an eligible Artisan turn-in. The closed beta capped characters at level 30, whereas the Artisan tier lists a level-35 gate, so its actual launch payout remains unknown. Expert figures appear in the October 7 beta update on the Wowhead Merchant’s Favor page; Apprentice and Journeyman data are also described in Wowhead’s faction guide.
The crate tier determines its recorded payout range, but material costs decide value. High-tier inputs were scarce during the level-30 beta because players could not reliably collect some later-zone resources. The level-60 release expands access, so those October price relationships may reverse.
Other Fast Merchant’s Favor Crates Worth Checking
When Bronze Frameworks are overpriced, compare shipments that use cheap cloth, disenchanting materials or your existing gathering stock. These are concrete alternative bundles in the Forever database, not a blanket claim that they will always beat Journeyman Parts.
| Crate | Example Accepted Bundle | Why Test It? |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Fabrics | 20 Bolt of Linen Cloth, or 2 Cured Light Hide | A green Apprentice shipment can award 10 Favor; cloth can be abundant, but the crate may carry a premium. |
| Apprentice Curiosities | 4 Greater Magic Essence, or 20 Strange Dust | Worth checking if you have cheap Enchanting materials; a white Apprentice reward is only 5 Favor. |
| Apprentice Parts | 4 Copper Modulator, or 16 Handful of Copper Bolts | Compare the parts cost against the green Apprentice payout before buying. |
| Journeyman Ore | 10 Silver Ore, or 20 Iron Ore | Often cheap to acquire as an empty crate; expensive if the required ore is scarce. |
| Journeyman Ingots | 10 Silver Bar, or 20 Iron Bar | Compare smelted bars with raw ore; smelting adds time and can change market value. |
| Expert Parts | 5 Mithril Tube, or 12 Unstable Trigger | Green Expert rewards can reach 30 Favor, but higher-tier engineering parts may be costly. |
For Enchanters: Apprentice Curiosities may be competitive when Greater Magic Essence or Strange Dust is inexpensive, but include the materials’ resale value. Blizzard recorded an Apprentice Curiosities item-acceptance issue during beta with a fix planned; players whose current crate rejects the full listed bundle should compare its tooltip and official known issues before spending on more stock.
The broader Profession Tier List discusses why Enchanting, Engineering and gathering professions are attractive for different playstyles. This guide does not rank professions overall: it ranks crate strategies for a specific currency goal.
Where to Turn in Filled Waylaid Crates
| Faction | Organization | Turn-In NPC | Where to Go |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horde | Durotar Supply and Logistics | Dokimi | West of the Crossroads, The Barrens (roughly 50, 29 near the camp) |
| Alliance | Azeroth Commerce Authority | Marcy Baker | Three Corners, Redridge Mountains (roughly 9.6, 70.9) |
The Horde Shipping Label and Alliance Shipping Label introduce the supply camps. Beta data records 50 Favor and 2,000 reputation once per character for that quest. Later A Sealed Crate deliveries primarily award tier-based Favor rather than the same repeatable reputation. For the distinct reputation farm, follow our Supply Faction Reputation Guide.
Practical route tip: bring a batch of filled crates when your faction’s trade camp is already on your leveling route. If you are evaluating speed rather than the cheapest coins, add travel and shopping time to the comparison. A crate with a small gold advantage may lose in real-world time if it requires multiple cross-zone trips.
Is Performance Bonus Worth It for Merchant’s Favor?
The Professions Legacy tree includes Performance Bonus. Its highest-rank Forever tooltip lists a 15% chance to gain 100% additional Merchant’s Favor from a qualifying crate turn-in. This is a chance to double the reward, not a guaranteed +15% on every shipment: a 20-Favor crate normally gives 20, and a successful proc gives 40. In a large sample, that averages 23 Favor per crate if the launch effect matches the recorded tooltip.
Compare any Legacy respec cost with the value of the remaining crates you would avoid. The historical video considers a 10-gold reset and eight allocated Legacy Points, but Blizzard later allowed temporary cheap beta resets; neither the video price nor the testing discount establishes a launch respec cost. The Legacy System Guide covers the overall talent-point limits and reset rules. Use the displayed cost on your character, not the beta example.
| Scenario | Base Expectation | At 15% Chance to Double |
|---|---|---|
| One green Journeyman turn-in | 20 Favor | 20 normally; 40 on a successful proc |
| Long-run average per turn-in | 20 Favor | About 23 Favor |
| Approximate crate count for 1,000 Favor | 50 crates | About 44 on average (actual results vary) |
| Approximate crate count for 6,000 Favor | 300 crates | About 261 on average (actual results vary) |
Historical break-even example: at about 1.20s per Favor for self-crafted green Journeyman shipments, a 15%-chance double payout reduces a 6,000-Favor target from 300 crates to roughly 261 on average. That saves about 39 crates, worth approximately 9.4 gold at the sample 23.98s net cost per crate. It would not fully offset a separate hypothetical 10-gold reset. At 5.80s per Favor with purchased Frameworks, the potential saving is much larger. The cost of your real reset and your actual crate prices decide whether the perk makes sense.
If Performance Bonus is already active, use it. If activating it requires a paid respec and displaces more useful Legacy perks, calculate the cost against your own remaining Favor goal. Do not assume a random proc makes a short farming session cheaper.
How Much Merchant’s Favor Do You Need?
Choose a currency target based on an actual recipe or collectible, not a round number. A 180-Favor schematic is a very different task from a 6,000-Favor Pack Kodo goal, which has separate level, riding and standing requirements. The following values come from pre-release vendor and beta records; the launch merchant’s actual displayed conditions govern purchases.
| Example Goal | Merchant’s Favor | Green Journeyman Crates at 20 Each* | Also Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry-level profession recipe | 30 or 45 (recipe-dependent) | 2 or 3 | Profession and skill requirement |
| Satchel of Bronze Bombs schematic | 180 | 9 | Engineering skill and trading-faction reputation |
| Profession certification/title | 1,000 | 50 | Profession skill 300 |
| Packmule Treat | 1,500 | 75 | Current vendor offer and item requirements |
| Pack Kodo | 6,000 | 300 | Level 60, Journeyman Riding and Exalted supply-faction standing in listed pre-release requirements |
*Counts assume zero starting Favor, no one-time Shipping Label bonus, no Legacy proc and exclusively 20-Favor crates; round up when the target is not a multiple of 20. If you still have your initial 50-Favor Shipping Label quest, earn it first and recalculate. For example, a 180-Favor recipe then needs only 130 more Favor, which is seven 20-Favor crates.
The Forever vendor list documents pre-release recipes and prices. The Pack Kodo page describes the separate mount goal, while the Supply Faction Reputation Guide explains rank unlocks. Favor alone does not waive the required reputation, level, profession skill or riding level.
Should You Farm Crates Yourself or Use a Service?
For one affordable recipe, the sensible starting plan is to claim the one-time introductory Favor (if still available), fill only the crates you need while leveling and keep enough gold for training and repairs. Large recipe collections or the 6,000-Favor mount goal can demand hundreds of hand-ins plus substantial shopping and travel. That is a practical point to decide whether you prefer a DIY economy route or an eligible currency service.
LepreStore’s Merchant’s Favor service covers currency farming, not automatic recipe purchases, crafted items or the faction standing needed for locked rewards. Beta access ended October 23, so a product listing still describing beta-character delivery is dated; confirm that any order applies to the November 4 release, including start window, amount and method. The comparison tables above remain usable for players who prefer DIY farming.
Choose the Reward You Actually Want
If your target is a handful of recipes, try the crate and crafting-cost method first. For a larger currency target, compare the time you would spend gathering and filling shipments with the service scope. For Pack Kodo, remember that 6,000 Favor is only one requirement.
Seven Merchant’s Favor Mistakes to Avoid
- Using October beta prices as November 4 gold rates. Crates, bars and Enchanting materials may change sharply across realm economies and the level-60 release.
- Forgetting the crate’s silver refund. Use net cost, not gross shopping spend, if the turn-in payout is confirmed.
- Misreading the Bronze Framework yield. The Forever database displays two per craft, but the actual in-game craft result determines your launch shopping list.
- Assuming the most Favor per crate is the cheapest Favor. A 30-Favor Expert shipment can be a terrible deal if the materials are rare.
- Buying every ingredient listed in the crate tooltip. One accepted bundle fills a crate; other listed bundles are alternatives.
- Mixing up Merchant’s Favor with reputation. Filled crates primarily pay Favor, while Writs and empty-crate receipt turns-ins serve different reputation goals.
- Paying to respec Legacy for a small stack of crates. Performance Bonus is probabilistic and the respec may cost more than the expected savings.
Merchant’s Favor FAQ
What Is Merchant’s Favor in WoW Forever?
It is a currency paid for completed Waylaid Crate deliveries to the faction trading organizations. Players spend it on profession recipes and select rewards. It is separate from normal gold and separate from faction reputation.
What Is the Fastest Way to Earn Merchant’s Favor?
In the closed October beta, a green Journeyman Parts crate completed with four Bronze Frameworks was a strong repeatable route. On a level-60 release realm it is the best choice only while the net cost and time per Favor beat other available shipments.
Can You Buy Waylaid Crates on the Auction House?
October beta players bought Waylaid Crates on the Auction House, and the crates are recorded as tradeable. On an active realm, compare available listings with self-found drops; there is no verified guaranteed crate drop location or hourly rate.
Do I Need Engineering to Farm Merchant’s Favor with Bronze Frameworks?
No. Engineering 145 is required to make the Frameworks yourself, but you can buy the completed material from another player or use a different shipment. The currency itself is shared across the profession choices available to your character.
How Do You Get Your First 50 Merchant’s Favor?
The introductory Shipping Label quest for your faction awarded 50 Merchant’s Favor once per character in the tested beta. Its reward is separate from later sealed-crate deliveries, which follow the recorded tier table. The first release-client quest reward is the applicable live reference.
Does Turning in Crates Automatically Unlock Every Recipe?
No. Favor pays the currency price; the item may also require a profession skill or supply-faction rank. An October beta discussion describes a player with enough Favor but insufficient Friendly reputation for a schematic. The separate reputation guide covers those unlock paths.
Where Do Alliance and Horde Turn in Merchant’s Favor Crates?
Alliance: Marcy Baker at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp at Three Corners, Redridge Mountains. Horde: Dokimi at Durotar Supply and Logistics west of the Crossroads, The Barrens.
Does Performance Bonus Always Give 15% More Favor?
No. The maximum-rank Forever tooltip lists a 15% chance to double a qualifying crate reward, averaging a 15% gain over many turn-ins. Individual shipments either proc or pay their normal amount.
How Many Crates Does 6,000 Merchant’s Favor Take?
At the October beta rate of 20 Favor per green Journeyman crate, 6,000 Favor requires 300 turn-ins before a Shipping Label bonus, existing balance or Legacy procs. On release realms, divide the remaining target by the actual payout and round up. Pack Kodo also has a level-60, riding and Exalted-standing gate; Favor alone is not the complete unlock.
