WoW Midnight Labyrinth of Kindo’jan Guide (Patch 12.1.5)

WoW Midnight Labyrinth of Kindo'jan Guide artwork featuring an ancient Zandalari labyrinth with dangerous chambers, adventurers, magical portals, and hidden treasure.

The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan is a nine-chamber Mega-Delve in WoW Midnight Patch 12.1.5. To unlock it, pick up The Labyrinth from Kul’amara the Fierce, meet Valeera Sanguinar at the entrance in Eversong Woods, and finish the three-chamber introduction. After that, you can play solo or in a group of up to five players, choose a difficulty tier, clear three, six or all nine chambers, and claim the rewards you have earned.

The key choice is how deep to go. For gearing, aim for reliable Tier 8 clears and bring Restored Coffer Keys. A full nine-chamber run can produce three Bountiful Coffers and Great Vault progress. Tier 8 also opens Wah’du’s weekly path to limited Myth-track items. Tier 11 and the final boss Kindo’jan are separate challenges; you do not need either for ordinary chamber rewards. This guide covers the unlock, routes, combat decisions, secrets, Journey ranks and loot without turning into a second boss guide.

3, 6 or 9 Chambers: Which Run Should You Do?

Chambers clearedHeavy TrunksBountiful CoffersDelve Great Vault creditBest use
3211 activityLearning a new tier, quick progress, limited time
64 total2 total2 activitiesReliable middle ground for rewards and Journey progress
96 total3 total3 activitiesBest full-run coffer opportunity and the first Kindo’jan door unlock

These are the chamber milestones, not guaranteed free equipment pieces. The Labyrinth is always Bountiful, but each Bountiful Coffer needs its own Restored Coffer Key. You need three keys to open all three coffers after a nine-chamber clear. Defeating Kindo’jan on an eligible tier can add a fourth Delve activity to your weekly Vault progress and opens his separate Ancestral Bounty.

Choose by your actual bottleneck: if you have only one key, need a fast tier unlock, or are still learning the layout, start with three chambers. If you have enough keys, a character ready for Tier 8 and time for a full session, nine chambers offer better use of one run. If a group keeps wiping in chamber seven, secure six-room rewards rather than losing the entire evening to an overambitious attempt.

Where Is the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan and How Do You Unlock It?

Travel to the Amani complex at the Zeb’tela Ruins, north of Amani Pass in southeastern Eversong Woods. Use the following TomTom waypoint:

/way #2395 63.0 72.2

  1. Get the quest. Follow the new Midnight story toward the Labyrinth, or take The Labyrinth from Kul’amara the Fierce at Tokka’s Landing. You do not have to finish the whole campaign first.
  2. Meet Valeera Sanguinar at the entrance. Begin Dangers Untold and Hardships Unnumbered and enter the introductory instance.
  3. Clear the Chamber of Rites. Finish its objective. When the Spirit Gate stops you, speak to Kinduru, who opens the way ahead.
  4. Complete the next two tutorial chambers. The introduction ends after three chambers, sending you back to turn in the quests.
  5. Hand in the introduction. The full Labyrinth then unlocks for your Warband. From this point, regular runs let you choose your available tier and chamber depth.

Completing only the first chamber is not the full unlock. If your second character cannot select a normal Labyrinth run, confirm that the first character handed in the last introduction quest. The campaign route and Kul’amara’s quest are alternatives into the same activity, not two different Labyrinths.

Labyrinth Tiers 1–11 and the First Boss Unlock

Like Delves, the Labyrinth has eleven difficulty tiers. Clearing three chambers on your current tier unlocks the next tier; you do not have to finish nine rooms at every step. The recommended item level shown in the entrance is a guide to difficulty, not a promise that the run will be easy at that exact number.

MilestoneWhat it changesWhat to do next
Early tiersLearn chamber objectives, gates and Valeera’s supportClear three chambers per tier and advance at a manageable pace
Tier 8Useful Bountiful gearing, Wah’du’s weekly Mythical Soul Fragment quest eligibility, and access to the Kindo’jan door-unlock routeBring keys, practice nine rooms, collect the weekly quest
Tier 11Highest standard tier and the solo Kindo’jan achievement challengePrepare gear, companion and boss tactics separately

Important first-kill rule: to open the Speaker’s Chamber door and fight Kindo’jan for the first time, complete all nine chambers in one Tier 8-or-higher run. After that initial door unlock, later boss attempts may follow a shorter route, but you still need to reach Akil’zon’s Roost and the door. A Tier 11 unlock by itself does not replace the first nine-chamber boss access requirement.

For the full solo strategy, including Disgraceful Display, the four loa trials and the mount requirement, see our Kindo’jan Tier 11 solo boss guide. The remaining advice here focuses on getting through the Labyrinth and earning its room-based rewards.

All Nine Labyrinth Chambers and Route Choices

The map is not a fixed nine-room corridor. Every run begins in the Chamber of Rites. Your next choice is the Reliquary or the Catacombs; from those routes you can reach the Central Chamber and the other wings. Spirit Gates open as you finish objectives, and the objectives can rotate between runs. One chamber may involve a boss, another a puzzle, ritual or collection task.

ChamberLocation / roleWhat to watch for
Chamber of RitesStarting chamber and Wah’du’s weekly quest locationCheck the current objective and weekly quest before moving on
The ReliquarySouthwest route choiceSafeguarded treasures; choose this path after the starting chamber
The CatacombsSoutheast route choiceBurial-themed enemies and an alternative path toward the center
The Central ChamberHub linking most roomsMap the remaining gates; search the eastern waterfalls for a hidden room
Halazzi’s LairWestern wingRitual objectives and later Journey-locked secrets

Akil’zon’s RoostNorthern wingAccess toward the Speaker’s Chamber once the boss door is unlocked
Jan’alai’s RefugeNorthwest wingMix of combat and movement objectives
Nalorakk’s RestNortheast wingPotential necromancer events and side-room rewards

Do not follow a video route blindly. The chamber locations are stable, but the task inside each room may not be. Read the on-screen objective, finish it, then inspect the map for newly available Spirit Gates. If you only need three chambers, choose a manageable second wing and leave after the third clear; for a nine-room run, aim to reach the Central Chamber early so you can see the remaining branches.

A Repeatable Route Plan for Three, Six or Nine Rooms

  1. Before entry: select the highest tier you can finish consistently; count your keys and check Wah’du’s current objective if you are eligible.
  2. Room 1: clear the Chamber of Rites, inspect your map and note the available gates. Do not rush out before collecting useful treasure and boons.
  3. Rooms 2–3: take the Reliquary or Catacombs route. Finish each room’s active objective. Stop at three for a tier unlock or quick run.
  4. Rooms 4–6: work through the Central Chamber and connected wings. Use checkpoints to repair, reset your pace and adjust Valeera if a scenario is giving you trouble. Six rooms are a valid stopping point.
  5. Rooms 7–9: clear the remaining wings rather than chasing a favorite room name. Check side chambers for boons if you will attempt the boss.
  6. Finish deliberately: talk to Kinduru in a cleared chamber or use Kinduru’s Spiriting Quill to conclude the run and reach the treasure room. Claim the milestone rewards and open only the Bountiful Coffers you have keys for.

Leaving the instance is not a way to save your current route. A normal departure resets your cleared-chamber progress; plan a nine-room attempt as one session. Logging out safely inside is different from exiting, but do not rely on leaving and re-entering to keep a near-finished run. Kinduru’s transport also improves at Labyrinth Journey Rank 4, when revisiting previously completed chambers becomes easier.

How to Clear Chambers Reliably: Valeera, Objectives and Checkpoints

A chamber’s encounter can change, so one memorized kill order will not solve every run. The reliable approach is to read the objective first, then choose how to engage. Valeera Sanguinar is your Delve companion, and you can adjust her role or combat curios at the start and during chamber transitions.

Problem during the runBetter decision
You die to large pulls on a new tierReduce pull size, save one defensive for dangerous casts, and switch Valeera toward the support your character lacks
A boss or elite lasts too longInterrupt its dangerous abilities and save burst for a safe window instead of pulling nearby enemies into the fight
The chamber does not complete after the main enemy diesRecheck the current objective for a ritual, collection, puzzle or other unfinished task
You are approaching a difficult final roomUse the checkpoint to repair, adjust Valeera, gather nearby boons and let cooldowns recover
A nine-room run keeps failing lateDrop to a tier you can finish or secure three/six-room rewards until your gear and knowledge catch up

Each newly entered chamber gives you a recovery point and another opportunity to review your setup. The best companion configuration depends on your class: a damage-heavy spec may value healing or control more than additional burst, while a durable solo character can prioritize faster clears. Test the role that solves your current weakness instead of assuming every player needs the same Valeera build.

For high-tier attempts, collect Mislaid Treasure and Mislaid Curiosities. Their temporary boons can accumulate over a long run, which is one reason a deliberate nine-room clear can feel easier by the time you reach the final encounter than a rushed attempt with no buffs.

Labyrinth Rewards: Hero Gear, Myth Gear, Crests and Great Vault

Bountiful Coffers and Heroic Soul Fragments

Every three rooms add one Bountiful Coffer and two Bountiful Heavy Trunks to the treasure-room total. Bountiful Coffers use Restored Coffer Keys and can supply Champion-track equipment at an eligible tier, plus a Heroic Soul Fragment per coffer. Combine three Heroic Soul Fragments for a random Hero 2/6 item (308 ilvl). You can keep fragments across runs; they do not have to come from the same three-room milestone.

Random does not mean targeted. You cannot name your favorite weapon or jewelry slot and guarantee it from this fragment combination. A full nine-room clear with three keys can move you three fragments closer to a Hero piece, but a player without keys should not count those coffer rewards as already earned. The Heavy Trunks and other treasure still have value even when you save your keys.

Wah’du’s Weekly Quest: Two Myth-Track Rewards Over Time

Meet Wah’du in the Chamber of Rites. His weekly stage asks you to complete a designated chamber on Tier 8 or higher. The reward is one Mythical Soul Fragment. Exchange three with Wah’du for a Myth 1/6 item (318 ilvl) in an eligible chosen armor, cloak or jewelry slot.

Weekly stages completedFragments from the questlineMyth rewards available from fragments
1–21–2Keep collecting; not enough for an exchange
33First chosen eligible Myth-track item
4–54–5 totalWork toward the second exchange
66 totalSecond chosen eligible Myth-track item

The six-stage questline takes weekly availability into account; it does not hand out two Myth pieces on the day you unlock the Labyrinth. Missing a weekly stage does not permanently destroy your chance: the questline supports catch-up up to the stages available to everyone. These selected slots also do not let you choose any raid weapon or trinket. If your biggest weakness is one eligible armor or jewelry slot, Wah’du is a much more predictable goal than hoping for a random Hero fragment reward.

Blessed Loa Armaments and Other Gear

Some Sturdy Chests contain Blessed Loa Armaments, which let you select an eligible Hero-track armor slot rather than roll a random item. One particularly valuable opportunity is in the hidden Flooded Chamber. These finds complement the Heroic Soul Fragment loop; they do not guarantee a best-in-slot trinket or weapon.

Additional loot across eligible chests includes Mistcrests, Voidlight Marl, Undercoin, Corrosive Coins, cosmetics, decor and Curios. A successful eligible Kindo’jan fight adds an Ancestral Bounty with, among other rewards, 10 Hero Mistcrests, 10 Myth Mistcrests, an extra Heroic Soul Fragment and Journey progress. The boss bounty is separate from the three chamber coffers.

How Labyrinth Great Vault Credit Works

The Labyrinth feeds the Delves row of the Great Vault, not the raid or Mythic+ row. Every three cleared chambers count as one Delve activity completion at the selected tier. A full nine-room run therefore contributes three activities. An eligible Kindo’jan kill adds another, for up to four activity credits across that run. These are credits toward the Vault’s weekly thresholds, not four separate guaranteed equipment rewards.

If you are choosing between using three keys here and spending them on regular Delves, compare your best reliably completed tier and the items you still need. Our Great Vault vs Nebulous Voidcore guide covers the larger reward decision, while the Season 2 gearing guide compares this route with raids, Mythic+ and other gear sources.

Labyrinth Journey: All Nine Ranks and Useful Unlocks

Labyrinth Journey is its own nine-rank progression track. It is not the same as the season-wide Delver’s Journey. You earn progress by playing and exploring, and higher ranks reveal new secrets, improve navigation and unlock reusable rewards. The progression continues beyond the five Journey ranks offered by some commercial services.

RankUnlockWhy it matters
1Ancient CuriosEligible Tier 8+ chests can contain Rank 5 Curios
2Lock, Key, and MaskKeeper of the Key, locked room and elemental Hexmasks become available
3Akil’zon’s FavorAkil’zon-sealed areas and their chests, powers and glove enchant
4Spirited AwayKinduru can return you to previously cleared chambers
5Jan’alai’s FavorJan’alai-sealed rooms and their rewards
6Loa-Spiritual ConduitsTemporary powerful conduit boons appear in runs
7Nalorakk’s FavorNalorakk-sealed rooms and their rewards
8Delve-O-Bot upgradeUnlocks purchase of the Midnight destination software chip from Telemancer Astrandis
9Halazzi’s FavorHalazzi-sealed rooms, additional finds and the ‘of the Labyrinth’ title

Best early targets: Rank 2 makes runs more interesting through Hexmasks and the locked room; Rank 4 saves backtracking; Rank 6 adds strong temporary effects. Ranks 3, 5, 7 and 9 gradually open the loa-sealed treasure areas. If you collect rewards only once and never return, you will miss the repeatable curiosities and boons those rooms can provide on later runs.

Labyrinth Secrets: Flooded Chamber, Hexmasks and Sturdy Chests

How to Open the Flooded Chamber

The Central Chamber has a secret worth checking before you finish a full exploration run. On its eastern side, swim beneath the waterfalls and follow the passage to a wall of ice. Use Fire damage to melt it. Behind it is the Flooded Chamber, holding five Sturdy Chests, upgrade currency and a Blessed Loa Armament.

If your specialization lacks convenient Fire damage, the Rune of Unleashed Fire from the Omnium Folio is an option. Once you have Journey Rank 2, the Fiery Hexmask may also supply Fire damage if it appears in your run. Do not assume every class needs to switch specialization just to open this wall.

Elemental Hexmasks and the Keeper of the Key

Journey Rank 2 introduces three useful follower types: Frozen Hexmask for Frost damage and control, Fiery Hexmask for sustained Fire damage, and Thundering Hexmask for bouncing Nature damage. Their appearances vary among several spawn points, so look along your chosen route instead of expecting one fixed mask in one fixed room. They stay with you for that run and can make later chambers easier.

Rank 2 also enables a Locked Room. Hunt down the Keeper of the Key, take the Archaic Amani Key, and open the room to loot extra Mislaid Curiosities and treasure. Treat those boons as preparation for the rest of the current run, not as a permanent replacement for your gear.

Are the 44 Sturdy Chests Worth Searching For?

There are 44 Sturdy Chests across the Labyrinth, including treasure behind later Journey seals. They are one-time discoveries rather than a farm you repeat each run. Twenty do not require the later sealed-room unlocks, while another five are in the Flooded Chamber. They can hold cosmetics, decor, currencies and other useful rewards.

For a first exploration route, these TomTom coordinates help you pick up easy chests without doing an exhaustive treasure-hunter tour:

RoomExample Sturdy Chest waypoints (Labyrinth map)
Chamber of Rites/way #2647 37.1 69.8 and /way #2647 47.0 64.3
The Reliquary/way #2647 30.0 74.1 and /way #2647 22.0 68.6
The Catacombs/way #2647 72.3 65.6 and /way #2647 69.6 70.9
The Central Chamber/way #2647 45.8 48.0 and /way #2647 40.7 45.7

Clear your current objective first, then pick up nearby chests. If you are pushing a timed first-week boss achievement, do not lose the whole attempt searching for every cosmetic; if you are working on Kindo’jan’s Labyrinth Discoveries, return as your Journey opens more sealed areas.

Kindo’jan Achievements: What Requires Tier 11?

Ordinary Labyrinth gearing does not require a Tier 11 solo clear. The highest-profile achievements are tied to defeating Kindo’jan himself:

  • The First Hash’ey: defeat Kindo’jan and earn the associated Loa-Blessed title.
  • Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan: defeat him solo on Tier 11 for the Loa-Blessed Wayfarer mount during Midnight Season 2.
  • Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan: meet the same solo Tier 11 kill requirement before the first regional weekly reset after the boss’s release, awarding the Fabled Vanquisher of The First Hash’ey title. For the October 13/14 launch, that means before the October 20 reset in North America or the usual October 21 reset in Europe.
  • One-Champion Army: a tougher Tier 11 solo, deathless full nine-chamber challenge and Kindo’jan kill, associated with the Lone Raider title.

The first-week Fabled title and the regular solo mount have different deadlines. The Fabled window is short; the regular mount is associated with the broader Midnight Season 2 period. If you are chasing one of those feats, go to our dedicated boss, Fabled and mount walkthrough for the actual encounter mechanics instead of relying only on the chamber route.

A Practical Labyrinth Weekly Checklist

  1. Finish the Warband-wide introduction if you have not already; select a tier you can clear consistently.
  2. At Tier 8+, pick up Wah’du’s currently available quest before clearing its required chamber.
  3. Check how many Restored Coffer Keys you have; choose three, six or nine rooms based on that number and your available time.
  4. Loot easy Sturdy Chests you have not claimed, and collect Mislaid Curiosities as you travel.
  5. Use the right milestones to progress your Delves Great Vault row, then compare the available equipment with your other weekly options.
  6. If you have the first Kindo’jan door unlocked, decide separately whether you want the boss bounty, a solo achievement or just chamber loot.

If you are juggling the rest of Patch 12.1.5, our what-to-do-first checklist places the Labyrinth alongside Orin’s upgrade quests, the new raid and Aqir Invasions. For Labyrinth alone, the best use of your time is the deepest tier and chamber count that you can actually complete, with keys and weekly quests ready.

Labyrinth of Kindo’jan FAQ

Where is the Labyrinth entrance in WoW Midnight?

It is in southeastern Eversong Woods, north of Amani Pass, near the Zeb’tela Ruins. The TomTom waypoint is /way #2395 63.0 72.2.

Do I have to finish the Midnight story to enter the Labyrinth?

No. You can take The Labyrinth from Kul’amara the Fierce and complete the introduction directly. Finish all three tutorial chambers and turn in the quests to unlock regular runs for your Warband.

Can I finish three chambers and come back tomorrow for the next six?

You can choose a shorter three- or six-chamber run and collect its earned rewards, but leaving does not save an unfinished nine-chamber route for a later re-entry. Plan a nine-chamber clear as one session.

Can you do the Labyrinth with friends?

Yes. Like a regular Delve, the Labyrinth supports solo play or a group of up to five players. Valeera is your Delve companion for the activity; choose your party size and her support role around the tier you can finish.

How many Restored Coffer Keys should I bring?

One key opens one Bountiful Coffer. The treasure room can offer one coffer after three chambers, two after six, or three after nine, so bring up to three keys if you want to open every coffer in a full run.

Can I earn Myth gear without killing Kindo’jan?

Yes. Wah’du’s Tier 8+ weekly chamber quest grants Mythical Soul Fragments. Three fragments make one eligible selected Myth-track item, and six weekly stages provide enough for two exchanges over time. You do not need a Tier 11 solo boss kill for this questline.

Do I have to clear nine rooms every time I fight Kindo’jan?

No. The first door unlock requires a full nine-room clear on Tier 8 or above in one run. After that, you can reach the Speaker’s Chamber door by a shorter route through Akil’zon’s Roost, although you must still travel to the entrance.

Is the Labyrinth Journey the same as the Delver’s Journey?

No. The Labyrinth has its own nine-rank Journey with Hexmasks, sealed areas and navigation unlocks. Regular Delve progression is a separate track, although Labyrinth activities can contribute to it.

Will I lose the Kindo’jan mount if I miss the first week?

The first-week deadline applies to the Fabled solo title. The regular Loa-Blessed Wayfarer comes from the Tier 11 solo achievement during Midnight Season 2. The achievement requirements are related, but the reward windows are not identical.

Learn the chambers at a comfortable tier first, move to Tier 8 once you can finish them reliably, and save Tier 11 for when you actually want the boss challenge. A run with the right number of keys, Wah’du’s active quest and a clear goal is worth more than a rushed nine-room attempt that ends without the rewards you needed.
