Updated July 17, 2026 for the World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.1 PTR. Boss mechanics, item effects, item levels, achievement criteria, and the release calendar can still change before the raid reaches live servers.
The Venomous Abyss is the new eight-boss raid coming with WoW Midnight Season 2 and Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek. The raid takes place inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek beneath the Coiled Isle and ends with a fight against Ula’tek, an ancient Amani weapon that has spent more than 16,000 years sealed away.
The raid follows Zul’jan’s attempt to secure a new source of power for the Amani. Guided by the spirit of Hex Lord Malacrass, he breaks the seals inside Atal’Utek and releases Ula’tek’s followers, brood, and corrupted creations. Players descend into the vault to stop the ritual before the creature escapes into the rest of Azeroth.
The current raid contains eight bosses, five tier-token encounters, 20 raid weapons, special-effect trinkets, cantrip armor, two mounts, raid achievements, and player housing decorations. This guide covers the current Patch 12.1 PTR version and links every named loot item directly to its Wowhead database page.
The dates below reflect Blizzard’s projected Patch 12.1 cadence and should be treated as estimates until the full release schedule is officially confirmed.
The rollout is expected to begin with a short story lead-in during the week of July 7, 2026, followed by Patch 12.1 in August. Midnight Season 2 and the Venomous Abyss raid should begin one week after the patch launches, with Mythic difficulty and Raid Finder wings opening during the following weeks.
| Expected Date | Release Stage | What Becomes Available |
|---|---|---|
| Week of July 7, 2026 | Story Lead-In | The pre-patch questline begins as the fog clears from the Coiled Isle and Zul’jarra starts her pursuit of Zul’jan. |
| Expected August 11, 2026 | Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek | The Coiled Isle zone, Altar of Fangs dungeon, new delves, outdoor activities, and the next chapter of the Midnight campaign become available. |
| One week after Patch 12.1 | Midnight Season 2 and the Venomous Abyss | The Venomous Abyss opens on Normal and Heroic difficulty. Mythic+ Season 2 begins, the new PvP season starts, and Bountiful Delves unlock. |
| Following weeks | Mythic and Raid Finder Unlocks | Mythic difficulty opens, while the three Raid Finder wings unlock in stages until all eight Venomous Abyss bosses are available. |
Based on the projected cadence, Normal and Heroic are expected to open first when Midnight Season 2 begins. Mythic difficulty should follow during a later weekly reset rather than opening alongside the initial raid release.
Raid Finder is also expected to use a staggered rollout. The eight encounters should be divided between several wings that open over the following weeks, giving Raid Finder groups access to progressively deeper sections of Atal’Utek before Ula’tek becomes available.
| Difficulty or Mode | Expected Unlock | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | One week after Patch 12.1 | Expected to open with Midnight Season 2 |
| Heroic | One week after Patch 12.1 | Expected to open alongside Normal |
| Mythic | During the following weeks | Exact weekly reset has not been confirmed |
| Raid Finder | Staggered over the following weeks | Wings are expected to open in stages |
| Full Eight-Boss Raid | After the final Raid Finder wave | Exact date has not been confirmed |
If Patch 12.1 launches on the projected August 11 date, Midnight Season 2 and the first Venomous Abyss difficulties would be expected around August 18, 2026. Mythic and later Raid Finder wings would then follow across subsequent weekly resets.
These dates remain provisional. Blizzard may move the patch, change the gap between difficulty unlocks, or revise the Raid Finder cadence before publishing the final Patch 12.1 raid calendar.

The Venomous Abyss is the main raid of Midnight Season 2 and the endgame conclusion to the Curse of Ula’tek storyline. Its eight encounters take place across the Vaults of Atal’Utek, a sprawling Amani prison built to contain a weapon that became dangerous to its creators.
Ula’tek is not a newly discovered dungeon monster. She is one of the Amani empire’s oldest and most carefully buried failures. The vault was constructed to keep her, her brood, and the knowledge surrounding her creation away from the outside world. Zul’jan’s actions undo that work.
After listening to the whispers of Hex Lord Malacrass, Zul’jan enters the Coiled Isle and releases Ula’tek’s forgotten broods. Zul’jarra asks the champions of Azeroth to follow him into Atal’Utek before the final seals are broken.
The raid’s rooms reflect that history. Players move through Amani burial chambers, venom laboratories, ritual wells, ancient construct halls, serpent nests, and platforms built above pools of toxic waste. The place feels less like an occupied fortress and more like a prison whose containment systems are failing one room at a time.
| # | Boss | Encounter Focus | Tier Slot |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Nek’zali the Soulcoiler | Soulcoil Well, spirits, sacrifices, and ritual control | None |
| 2 | Entombed Sentinels | Two-boss positioning, venom combinations, and health balancing | Hands |
| 3 | The Lost Explorers | Possession, elemental interactions, crates, and target priority | Shoulders |
| 4 | Vashnik the Malignant | Venom fountains, living toxins, waves, and add interception | Chest |
| 5 | Sszorak | Powerful winds, forced movement, cysts, and frontal attacks | Legs |
| 6 | The Twin Fangs | Dual serpents, venom stacks, adds, and coordinated kills | Head |
| 7 | The Coiled Altar | Zul’jan, Malacrass, axes, possession, and a dual-boss finish | None |
| 8 | Ula’tek | Eggs, venom waves, exposed-heart phases, and a collapsing arena | None |
Boss-name note: early PTR records called the seventh encounter The Bargained Crown. The current encounter journal, raid map, testing schedule, and Raid Finder data use The Coiled Altar. A few old achievement URLs may continue to display the previous name until Blizzard finishes cleaning up the PTR database.
Nek’zali opens the raid beside the Soulcoil Well, where she attempts to repeat the ritual that originally helped awaken Ula’tek. Spirits moving toward the well empower her Soulcoil Rite and make the fight progressively harder.
Players must control the dead, keep dangerous spirits away from the ritual, and avoid being dragged into the well themselves. Reaching it is not a normal positioning mistake: the targeted player is sacrificed to the ritual.
The encounter shifts between direct damage on Nek’zali and periods where the group must break her ritual support. Poor add control leaves the raid dealing with stronger casts, more pressure around the well, and fewer safe places to stand.
Main raid check: add control, interrupt assignments, movement around the Soulcoil Well, and quick swaps during the ritual.
The Entombed Sentinels are the Blood of Ula’tek and the Breath of Ula’tek, two ancient constructs corrupted by the venom they were meant to contain. Tanks must keep them apart. Bringing the pair too close activates Ula’tek’s Dominance and gives them almost complete damage reduction.
Their health values also matter. When Vitriolic Stasis begins, the weaker Sentinel restores health until it matches the stronger one. A raid that tunnels only one target can erase a large part of its own progress.
Helical Toxins is the fight’s defining mechanic. Players combine venom applications by touching one another and must reach exactly four applications to neutralize the effect. Stopping early leaves the toxin active. Combining too many applications creates a different problem.
Main raid check: tank spacing, balanced damage, assigned toxin groups, and disciplined movement between partners.
The Lost Explorers are tortollans trapped inside the vault and repeatedly possessed by the spirit Mor’zahi. The raid fights several characters whose abilities interact, making target priority more important than simply hitting whichever enemy is closest.
Fire and frost effects can cancel one another, Mighty Thud must be shared, and Trader Gebbo throws out crates containing objects that can help or complicate the pull. A Disgusting Fish can interrupt Mor’zahi’s control and free an explorer from possession.
Once one target is released, Mor’zahi begins looking for another host. The raid has to manage the explorers’ abilities while preventing the spirit from reaching a point where possession becomes unmanageable.
Main raid check: interrupts, target calls, elemental combinations, shared damage, and fast reactions to Gebbo’s crates.
Vashnik occupies the Chamber of Virulence, where he has spent his time refining Ula’tek’s venom into increasingly unstable forms. The encounter revolves around venom fountains that create living masses and fill sections of the room with hazardous effects.
The living venom moves toward the Malignant Cavity. Allowing it to reach the destination triggers a Malignant Reaction and puts heavy pressure on the entire raid. Damage dealers must intercept the creatures while tanks reposition Vashnik and everyone handles Plague Waves.
Adaptive Toxin and other persistent effects make recovery difficult after a missed mechanic. On Mythic, prototype venoms add another matching and positioning layer rather than simply increasing the damage numbers.
Main raid check: add interception, fountain control, planned movement, and immediate swaps to priority targets.
Sszorak uses the winds running through Atal’Utek to throw players around the arena. Positioning is never static for long. Crosswinds, venom globs, frontal attacks, and Viscous Cysts repeatedly change which parts of the room are safe.
The cysts are dangerous when handled carelessly, but the venom associated with them can also help players keep their footing during the strongest winds. The mechanic is less about avoiding every object and more about using the room correctly before Howling Maelstrom begins.
Apex Predator adds a sequence of frontals, shared damage, and poisonous tornadoes. Players who drift into a bad position before the sequence starts have little time to recover.
Main raid check: wind preparation, cyst placement, frontal awareness, and movement that preserves space for the next mechanic.
Vexhul and Ithraz are Ula’tek’s oldest serpentine children. Vexhul spreads venom, summons additional creatures, and covers the arena with toxins. Ithraz focuses on feeding, crushing sections of the platform, and consuming venom through Ravenous Feast.
Players build Eternal Venom as the fight continues and must use encounter mechanics to manage it. This is not a debuff that can always be removed on demand. Bad timing can leave the group carrying dangerous stacks into the bosses’ full-energy attacks.
The two serpents must also die close together. Killing one too early gives the survivor rapidly increasing damage through Uncoiled Wrath. A clean finish requires controlled damage rather than an uncontrolled burn on the first available target.
Main raid check: two-target balancing, venom management, add control, platform awareness, and a coordinated kill.
The Coiled Altar is the current name of the encounter previously called The Bargained Crown. Zul’jan reaches the altar under the influence of Hex Lord Malacrass and begins the final steps required to release Ula’tek.
Early in the fight, Zul’jan uses Fangs of the Crucible, Toxic Deluge, thrown axes, Guillotine attacks, and Coalesced Venom. The group must keep track of weapon paths while preserving room around the altar.
At roughly half health, Malacrass takes direct control of Zul’jan. The fight shifts into possession mechanics such as Dreadmarch and Soul Sever. Near the end, Zul’jan and Malacrass separate and fight together, forcing the raid to handle the warrior’s physical pressure and the hex lord’s magic at the same time.
Main raid check: weapon-path awareness, venom placement, possession mechanics, coordinated target damage, and surviving the two-enemy final stage.
Ula’tek is a multi-phase final boss built around venom routing, eggs, tail attacks, exposed-heart damage windows, and an arena that steadily loses safe ground.
Caustic Wingfall sends venom through the room and can hatch Devourer’s Spawn. Players have to control where the waves travel instead of treating every egg as an immediate add. Poor routing can hatch too many creatures at once and leave the group without a clean path for the next mechanic.
Rage of the Shackled exposes Ula’tek’s heart and creates a major damage window while debris and environmental damage continue around the raid. Her Gore Rattler tail uses heavy attacks such as Shattering Coil, which requires coordinated soaking rather than individual movement.
Later phases introduce wardens, additional venom waves, hatchlings, and Demolish attacks that remove sections of the platform. The final part of the fight becomes a race against the arena as the raid runs out of places to drop venom, spread, handle eggs, and survive knockbacks.
Main raid check: egg routing, heart-phase damage, tail soaks, add control, and using the remaining platform efficiently.
The current Patch 12.1 PTR uses four main raid upgrade tracks. The item starts on the track associated with its difficulty and can then be upgraded with Season 2 crests.
| Difficulty | Starting Item Level | Upgrade Track | Regular Track Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raid Finder | 272 | Veteran | 289 |
| Normal | 285 | Champion | 302 |
| Heroic | 298 | Hero | 315 |
| Mythic | 311 | Myth | 328 |
These are current PTR values rather than guaranteed live numbers. Blizzard can still adjust the starting levels, track lengths, or special scaling before Season 2 begins.
Patch 12.1 increases the value of raid choices in the Great Vault. Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic progress currently awards gear one upgrade track above the ordinary boss drops. Heroic raid progress can therefore produce Myth-track items in the weekly Vault.
Mythic Vault rewards are planned to start at the top of the standard Myth track. Very Rare items and rewards associated with The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek receive additional scaling beyond ordinary Mythic boss drops.
Bonus rolls are also staying in Season 2. Raid bonus rolls are planned to cost one currency each, and the currency can appear in the Great Vault from the beginning of the season. Blizzard has also confirmed that Catalyst conversion will preserve an item’s original secondary stats and cantrip effect.
See Wowhead’s Patch 12.1 endgame gearing overview for the latest version of these reward-system changes.
Five bosses drop class-set tokens. Each encounter is tied to one armor slot, while the token prefix determines which armor classes can exchange it for tier equipment.
| Boss | Slot | Tier Tokens |
|---|---|---|
| Entombed Sentinels | Hands | Venomwoven Idol, Venomcured Idol, Venomcast Idol, Venomforged Idol |
| The Lost Explorers | Shoulders | Venomwoven Remnant, Venomcured Remnant, Venomcast Remnant, Venomforged Remnant |
| Vashnik the Malignant | Chest | Venomwoven Icon, Venomcured Icon, Venomcast Icon, Venomforged Icon |
| Sszorak | Legs | Venomwoven Relic, Venomcured Relic, Venomcast Relic, Venomforged Relic |
| The Twin Fangs | Head | Venomwoven Effigy, Venomcured Effigy, Venomcast Effigy, Venomforged Effigy |
| Token Prefix | Armor Type | Classes |
|---|---|---|
| Venomwoven | Cloth | Mage, Priest, and Warlock |
| Venomcured | Leather | Demon Hunter, Druid, Monk, and Rogue |
| Venomcast | Evoker, Hunter, and Shaman | |
| Venomforged | Plate | Death Knight, Paladin, and Warrior |
Ula’tek can also drop the Slumbering Coil Curio. The item can be taken to Kirana near the Catalyst in Silvermoon and exchanged for class-set armor, giving the final boss a separate tier-related reward even though Ula’tek does not drop one of the five fixed-slot tokens.
The raid contains one-handed and two-handed weapons for every major role, including daggers, axes, swords, maces, a fist weapon, a gun, a bow, a staff, a polearm, and a warglaive. The full current PTR weapon list is linked below.
| Weapon | Weapon Type |
|---|---|
| Hexing Spiritrender | One-Hand Dagger |
| Strongblood’s Ceremonial Cleaver | One-Hand Axe |
| Tomb-Creeper’s Claw | One-Hand Fist Weapon |
| Malignant Toothed Edge | Two-Hand Sword |
| Venomancer’s Winged Channeler | Staff |
| Ancient Construct’s Venomshiv | Dagger |
| Caustic Keeper-Crusher | Two-Hand Mace |
| Gebbo’s Backup Blaster | Gun |
| Malevolent Spiritcudgel | One-Hand Mace |
| Ravenous Feaster’s Fang | Dagger |
| Slithering Savage’s Gavel | One-Hand Mace |
| Venomous Boneglaive | Warglaive |
| Aman’muso, Warlord’s Vengeance | One-Hand Axe |
| Baleful Hexblade | One-Hand Sword |
| Maze-roa, Warlord’s Fury | Two-Hand Axe |
| Abyssal Broodfiend’s Bardiche | Polearm |
| Caustic Repose Greatbow | Bow |
| Jan’thrazet, the Soul Fang | One-Hand Dagger |
| Jaw of the Shackled Goddess | One-Hand Sword |
| Zatha’tek, Breath of Corruption | Main-Hand Dagger |
The most valuable weapons are not necessarily the ones with the cleanest secondary-stat distribution. Several late-raid items have unique effects or Very Rare status, giving them different scaling and upgrade value from ordinary weapons.
Aman’muso, Warlord’s Vengeance, Maze-roa, Warlord’s Fury, and the Zul’jin’s Guillotine Technique trinket form the Bite of Zul’jan mini-set. Equipping two pieces improves the Guillotine effect and lets it strike an additional nearby enemy.
Ula’tek’s most unusual weapons include Jan’thrazet, the Soul Fang, Zatha’tek, Breath of Corruption, Jaw of the Shackled Goddess, Abyssal Broodfiend’s Bardiche, and Caustic Repose Greatbow.
Current effects remain open to tuning. Wowhead tracks the latest versions in its Midnight Season 2 special-effect gear overview.
The following table covers the current non-tier armor pieces listed for the raid. Tier tokens are listed separately above.
Ula’tek drops four pieces with special cantrip effects: Venomkeeper’s Horrific Cowl, Gaze of the Coiled Watcher, Awoken Dreadfang Cuirass, and Chausses of Unbound Rancor.
These pieces use one dominant secondary stat instead of the usual two-stat split. Their effects can temporarily push that stat higher while lowering the character’s other secondary stats by a smaller amount.
Patch 12.1 changes the Catalyst so converted armor retains its original secondary stats and cantrip effect. A player can therefore convert one of these pieces into tier armor without automatically deleting the special Ula’tek property.
The raid contains trinkets for tanks, healers, spellcasters, Strength users, and Agility users. PTR tuning can still change their damage, healing, cooldowns, and role value.
| Trinket | Boss | General Role |
|---|---|---|
| Soulcoiler Ritual Vessel | Nek’zali | Healer / Support |
| Keeper’s Seething Core | Entombed Sentinels | Physical DPS |
| First Mate’s Shellward | The Lost Explorers | Tank |
| Gebbo’s Bottomless Bag | The Lost Explorers | All Primary Stats |
| Fang of Umbral Malignance | Vashnik | Intellect DPS |
| Vashnik’s Sanguine Rancor | Vashnik | Agility DPS |
| Sszorak’s Ferocity | Sszorak | Strength DPS |
| Idol of the Howling Nexus | Sszorak | Tank |
| Vexhul’s Everflowing Gland | The Twin Fangs | Intellect DPS |
| Preternatural Antivenom | The Twin Fangs | Healer |
| Hex Lord’s Dooming Idol | The Coiled Altar | Intellect DPS |
| Zul’jin’s Guillotine Technique | The Coiled Altar | Strength / Agility DPS |
| Font of Venomous Rage | Ula’tek | Damage |
| Voracious Heart of Ula’tek | Ula’tek | Strength / Agility DPS |
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Neck | Sentinel’s Vitriolic Chain |
| Neck | Amulet of the Twin Fangs |
| Neck | Aqirbane Reliquary |
| Finger | Vile Alchemist’s Band |
| Finger | Apex Brute’s Claw Ring |
| Off-Hand | Venom-Slashed Scuteward |
| Off-Hand | Spine of the Hissing Abyss |
Several pieces of raid jewelry include effects that reduce damage from Deadly Venom inside the Venomous Abyss and related Coiled Isle content. That defensive value may matter during early progression even when another item has slightly better secondary stats on paper.
The raid currently has two mount rewards. One comes from the Glory meta-achievement, while the other is tied to Mythic Ula’tek.
| Mount | Source | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Crimson Venomfang | Glory of the Venomous Raider | Complete all eight special raid achievements |
| Primeval Skyfriend | Ula’tek | Defeat Ula’tek on Mythic difficulty |
The Crimson Venomfang is the reward for completing the raid’s encounter-specific challenges on Normal difficulty or higher. The Primeval Skyfriend appears in the current Mythic Ula’tek loot table.
| Achievement | Requirement |
|---|---|
| The Venomous Abyss | Complete the raid on any qualifying difficulty |
| Heroic: The Venomous Abyss | Defeat Ula’tek on Heroic difficulty or higher |
| Mythic: The Venomous Abyss | Complete the raid on Mythic difficulty |
| Ahead of the Curve: Ula’tek | Defeat Heroic Ula’tek before the next raid tier |
| Cutting Edge: Ula’tek | Defeat Mythic Ula’tek before the next raid tier |
| Hall of Fame: Ula’tek | Earn a qualifying early Mythic Ula’tek guild kill |
Glory of the Venomous Raider requires eight special boss achievements and rewards the Crimson Venomfang.
| Achievement | Associated Encounter |
|---|---|
| Well, Well, Little Sky | Nek’zali the Soulcoiler |
| Is Venom Stasis A Joke To You? | Entombed Sentinels |
| Accidental Inclusion | The Lost Explorers |
| Kept You Waiting Huh? | Vashnik the Malignant |
| Taking a Bite out of Slime | Sszorak |
| Jumping Through Hoops | The Twin Fangs |
| Watch Out Behind You | The Coiled Altar |
| No Egg Scramble | Ula’tek |
Achievement names and requirements are still PTR data. Blizzard may adjust individual criteria if an encounter changes significantly before launch.
The raid also drops Amani, venom, ritual, and temple-themed decorations for World of Warcraft’s player housing system.
| Housing Decoration | Boss or Difficulty |
|---|---|
| Soulcoiler’s Ritual Candle | Nek’zali the Soulcoiler |
| Hexed Tomb Brazier | Entombed Sentinels |
| Lost Explorers’ Mailbox | The Lost Explorers |
| Vessel of the Howling Ossuary | Sszorak |
| Venom-Fanged Font | The Twin Fangs |
| Pillar of the Coiled Isle | The Coiled Altar |
| The Venomous Abyss Gleaming Trophy | Ula’tek |
| The Venomous Abyss Aureate Trophy | Heroic or Mythic Ula’tek |
| The Venomous Abyss Argent Trophy | Mythic Ula’tek |
| “Rage of the Shackled” Mural | Ula’tek |
The current journal lists multiple Ula’tek trophy variants across different difficulties. Housing sources and difficulty requirements can still move during PTR development.
The Venomous Abyss does not rely on one repeated raid mechanic with a different visual effect on every boss. Most encounters ask the group to control a separate system alongside the boss’s health bar.
Nek’zali has spirits and the Soulcoil Well. The Sentinels require exact venom combinations and balanced damage. The Lost Explorers turn elemental effects and possession into a target-priority puzzle. Vashnik fills the room with living toxins. Sszorak weaponizes forced movement. The Twin Fangs combine two-target damage with venom management. The Coiled Altar changes from a Zul’jan fight into a possession encounter and then a dual-boss finish. Ula’tek forces the raid to plan around eggs while the arena disappears.
Movement tools should be valuable throughout the tier, but uncontrolled movement can be just as dangerous as standing still. Players need to know where they are moving, what they are carrying, and whether crossing another player’s path will combine a debuff, hatch an egg, or push a mechanic into the wrong part of the room.
The loot structure also gives groups a reason to clear the full raid. The five tier slots come from the middle six encounters, while many special-effect weapons, cantrip pieces, achievements, housing trophies, and prestige rewards sit behind The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek.
The exact entry item level and live tuning are not final, but the current encounters already show which areas are worth preparing before the first raid night.
Practice controlled movement. Sszorak, The Twin Fangs, The Coiled Altar, and Ula’tek punish players who use movement abilities without checking the next safe position.
Set clear target calls. Lost Explorers, Vashnik, Twin Fangs, and the later Coiled Altar phases all require the raid to change targets for a reason. Personal damage can become wasted damage when the wrong add or boss is being hit.
Plan dispels and debuff groups. The Sentinels are the clearest example, but venom management appears throughout the raid. Assigning partners before the pull is easier than trying to solve every combination through voice chat.
Keep multiple gear options. Special-effect trinkets, defensive jewelry, cantrip armor, and final-boss weapons may outperform a higher-item-level alternative in specific encounters. Early progression gearing will not always be a simple item-level comparison.
Expect PTR changes. Public testing is still active. A mechanic that defines a fight today may be retuned, renamed, or moved before the live opening.
Blizzard has not announced the exact Venomous Abyss release date. The raid will open when Midnight Season 2 begins, one week after Patch 12.1 launches.
The Venomous Abyss is part of World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek.
The raid has eight bosses: Nek’zali the Soulcoiler, Entombed Sentinels, The Lost Explorers, Vashnik the Malignant, Sszorak, The Twin Fangs, The Coiled Altar, and Ula’tek.
Ula’tek is the final boss. She is an ancient Amani weapon and creature of hatred, corruption, and venom that was imprisoned inside Atal’Utek for more than 16,000 years.
The seventh boss is currently called The Coiled Altar. The Bargained Crown was its earlier PTR name and may still appear on old database records or URLs.
The raid supports Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty. Exact live unlock dates have not been announced.
Current PTR achievement data divides the raid into three Raid Finder wings: Essence of Ula’tek, Beasts of Ula’tek, and Ula’tek.
Current PTR starting values are item level 272 in Raid Finder, 285 in Normal, 298 in Heroic, and 311 in Mythic. These numbers can still change before release.
Entombed Sentinels drop hand tokens, The Lost Explorers drop shoulder tokens, Vashnik drops chest tokens, Sszorak drops leg tokens, and The Twin Fangs drop head tokens.
Ula’tek can drop the Slumbering Coil Curio, which can be exchanged for class-set armor near the Catalyst in Silvermoon.
Yes. The Crimson Venomfang comes from Glory of the Venomous Raider, while the Primeval Skyfriend is tied to Mythic Ula’tek.
Yes. The loot table contains special-effect weapons, role-specific trinkets, venom-resistant jewelry, and four Ula’tek cantrip armor pieces.
Under the current Patch 12.1 rules, Catalyst conversion preserves the original item’s secondary stats and cantrip effect.
Yes. The Venomous Abyss is still being tested on the Patch 12.1 PTR. Mechanics, numerical tuning, loot effects, item levels, achievement criteria, and release dates can all change before the raid opens.
The Venomous Abyss looks like a coordination-heavy raid rather than a row of eight damage checks. Every encounter has something the group must manage in addition to the boss: spirits, venom combinations, possession, living toxins, forced movement, multiple targets, eggs, or a shrinking platform.
The reward structure supports full clears. Tier tokens are spread across five middle bosses, while the back of the raid holds many of its most unusual weapons, trinkets, cantrip pieces, achievements, housing trophies, and mounts.
The broad structure is now clear, but the numbers are not final. The safest way to treat the current data is as an accurate picture of the Patch 12.1 PTR on July 17, 2026 rather than a promise that every value will reach live servers unchanged.
