WoW Forever Alchemy Leveling Guide 1–300

WoW Forever Alchemy Leveling 1–300 guide artwork featuring Alliance and Horde alchemists brewing magical potions with herbs, colorful elixirs, and alchemy equipment.

To level Alchemy from 1 to 300 in WoW Forever, start with low-cost elixirs, move into mana potions and fish-derived oils, then plan your Expert and Artisan recipes around your trainer access. The important change from Classic is that the familiar Healing Potion line now belongs to First Aid. A reliable Alchemy route uses different crafts instead of following those old healing-potion steps.

This guide uses Forever patch 1.60.1 recipe records and the October 2026 profession updates. As of October 29, the November 4 launch is still ahead: the 1-225 route is supported by beta recipe data and established guide paths, while 225-300 is a preparation plan, not a claim of personally tested level-60 crafting. Skill colors, recipe sellers and access can change in the launch client.

Alchemy 1-300 at a Glance

There are two practical goals: reach 225 using broadly available recipes, then pick an accessible Artisan recipe for the last 75 points. Do not buy the entire 1-300 shopping list before checking which finishing recipe you can actually learn.

ProgressRequired profession rankCharacter and trainer checkMain decision
1-75Apprentice (cap 75)Learn from a city or starting-zone Alchemy trainer.Use common herbs and Empty Vials.
75-150Journeyman (cap 150)Train at 50 Alchemy, around character level 10.Switch from minor elixirs to mana and oil crafts.
150-225Expert (cap 225)Train at 125 Alchemy, around character level 20.Keep Fire Oil and obtain the Nature Protection recipe.
225-300Artisan (cap 300)Train at 200 Alchemy, around character level 35.Plan advanced herbs, recipe unlocks and the final 290-300 option.

The ranges in the tables are target skill milestones, not a promise that one craft always grants one point. Orange recipes guarantee a skill-up; yellow and green recipes do not. Stop crafting a step when you reach its target or when a cheaper, accessible orange/yellow alternative opens.

What Changed From Classic Alchemy

The familiar recipe name is not enough to predict the ingredients in Forever. Compare the Forever spell record with the recipe you learned before buying materials:

Old Classic assumptionForever recordEffect on your route
Alchemy makes the standard Minor through Major Healing Potions. The usual healing-potion line is handled by First Aid.Use Alchemy elixirs, mana potions, oils or distinct Discolored Healing recipes for Alchemy skill-ups.
A Lesser Mana Potion uses a Crystal Vial in some newer game versions.Lesser Mana Potion lists Mageroyal, Stranglekelp and an Empty Vial.Buy the vial shown by the Forever recipe, not one from a modern Retail page.
Fire Oil can be crafted from fish with no vial in later-version recipe databases.Fire Oil lists two Firefin Snapper and one Empty Vial.Include Empty Vials in the fish-oil batch and keep enough oil for the next stage.
Mana Potion needs a Crystal Vial in some current-client guides.Mana Potion lists a Leaded Vial with Stranglekelp and Kingsblood.Do not pay for the wrong vial tier.

For ordinary Healing Potions, bandages and Triage, use the WoW Forever First Aid leveling guide. The skills are separate, and you can learn First Aid without using a primary profession slot.

Once you know your target rank, decide whether you want to gather and craft every ingredient yourself or only obtain a completed Alchemy skill target. The detailed self-play route stays below for either choice.

Craft It Yourself or Get Help With Your Skill Target

The recipe plan below works for self-play. If herbs and fish are the bottleneck, compare the material kit with assistance for a selected profession skill range. Check launch timing and included recipe access before ordering.

Alchemy Trainers and Recipe Requirements

Your crafting skill cannot move beyond a trained rank cap. It is worth planning the Expert and Artisan trips in advance, especially if you are buying a batch of high-level herbs.

Rank to learnAlliance trainerHorde trainerAccess and costs
ApprenticeLilyssia Nightbreeze (Stormwind); Milla Fairancora (Darnassus); Vosur Brakthel (Ironforge)Whuut (Orgrimmar); Doctor Martin Felben (Undercity); Kray (Thunder Bluff)Starter profession training; pay the fee shown by your NPC.
JourneymanLilyssia Nightbreeze (Stormwind); Tally Berryfizz (Ironforge)Yelmak (Orgrimmar); Doctor Marsh (Undercity)Alchemy 50 / character level around 10; fee is payable to trainer.
ExpertAinethil (Darnassus, around 55, 24)Doctor Herbert Halsey (Undercity, around 48, 72)Alchemy 125 / character level around 20; the reference route quotes 50 silver, but inspect the Forever trainer price.
ArtisanKylanna Windwhisper (Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas, around 32.6, 43.8)Rogvar (Stonard, Swamp of Sorrows, around 48.4, 55.6)Alchemy 200 / character level around 35; confirm the fee and trained recipes before purchasing expensive materials.

Most elixirs and potions in this route can be crafted without a dedicated workstation. Advanced transmutes may require a Philosopher's Stone, and some new recipes need a Fermenter or Alchemy Laboratory at a campfire. Merely reaching the profession skill requirement does not grant a missing formula or dungeon Blueprint.

There are three important recipe-access checks in the route. Recipe: Nature Protection Potion requires Alchemy 190 and is sold by suppliers including Bronk and Logannas in Feralas, Glyx Brewright in Stranglethorn Vale and Alchemist Pestlezugg in Tanaris. Recipe: Superior Mana Potion requires Alchemy 260 and is listed with limited stock from Ulthir in Darnassus and Algernon in Undercity. A vendor being in the database is not a guarantee that the recipe is in stock when you arrive.

The Draught of Detect Undead recipe record at Alchemy 230 currently names Kylanna Windwhisper and Master Mycologist Shurome among training sources. Horde players should check their available Artisan trainer before buying a large Arthas’ Tears batch; if the recipe is missing, use a confirmed neutral training source or switch to an accessible alternative instead of assuming every trainer teaches it.

Alchemy Materials Shopping List

This shopping list has one defined starting situation: a character at Alchemy 1 with no herbs, fish, vials, saved oils or learned vendor patterns, using the main route shown below. It is a craft-planning allowance, not a guaranteed number of attempts. Yellow and green results can change the quantities.

Buy or gatherMain route 1-225Artisan preparation 225-290Combined allowance to 290
Silverleaf54—54
Peacebloom91—91
Earthroot54—54
Mageroyal50—50
Briarthorn60—60
Stranglekelp821294
Kingsblood51—51
Liferoot361248
Firefin Snapper40—40
Arthas' Tears—4545
Sungrass—6060
Blindweed—6060
Empty Vial151—151
Leaded Vial871299
Crystal Vial—7575

The combined shopping allowance covers only skill 1-290. The 290-300 recipe choice changes the remaining herbs and vials. For example, ten Major Frenzy Potion crafts would consume 30 Plaguebloom, 20 Blindweed and 10 Imbued Vials, but yellow and green skill-ups can require more crafts. Only buy that finishing batch if you can actually learn its pattern.

Keep the Fire Oil from the 130-150 section. The current Forever spell record shows three units produced per craft: twenty crafts would therefore create 60 oils, of which fifteen Elixirs of Fire Power use 30. The other 30 are surplus in this worked example. If your client produces a different amount, recalculate the next stage before crafting. Never buy 40 Firefin Snapper and 30 ready-made Fire Oils for the same production path unless you knowingly choose to purchase the oil instead of creating it.

For any starting inventory, calculate: net quantity to buy = planned ingredient requirement – items already held – reusable intermediate items made in earlier steps. Keep a separate extra reserve for yellow/green skill-ups. Vendor vials and dated Auction House herb prices are different kinds of costs; compare current listings rather than relying on a claimed universal gold total.

Alchemy Leveling Route 1-300

Each craft count below is an estimate for the stated band, not an in-game guaranteed completion count. Open your profession tab to confirm the recipe is learned and has not turned grey before making a large batch. Recipe names link to the Forever database, not a Retail recipe page.

Apprentice Route: Skill 1-75

Skill targetCraft and planned attemptsIngredients per craftLearning and transition
1-55Elixir of Minor Defense – around 541 Silverleaf, 1 Peacebloom, 1 Empty VialTrainer recipe. The Forever recipe is yellow at 55, so change recipe rather than forcing green crafts later.
55-65Minor Mana Potion – around 101 Mageroyal, 1 Peacebloom, 1 Empty VialLearn at an Alchemy trainer; sell or keep useful mana potions.
65-75Elixir of Minor Fortitude – part of around 27 planned crafts through 902 Earthroot, 1 Peacebloom, 1 Empty VialTrainer recipe. It turns yellow around 80; do not expect each late craft to increase skill.

Train Journeyman as soon as you qualify, before hitting the Apprentice cap at 75. You can carry leftover minor elixirs into your leveling journey or vendor them if you need bag space.

Journeyman Route: Skill 75-150

Skill targetCraft and planned attemptsIngredients per craftLearning and transition
75-90Elixir of Minor Fortitude – remainder of the 27-craft band2 Earthroot, 1 Peacebloom, 1 Empty VialContinue only until you can change to an accessible higher recipe.
90-120Elixir of Wisdom – around 301 Mageroyal, 2 Briarthorn, 1 Empty VialTrainer recipe; a reasonable herb-based stretch before mana potions.
120-130Lesser Mana Potion – around 101 Mageroyal, 1 Stranglekelp, 1 Empty VialTrainer recipe. Check the Forever Empty Vial requirement.
130-150Fire Oil – around 202 Firefin Snapper, 1 Empty VialTrainer recipe. Save at least 30 Fire Oil units for the next tier; extra output is not a second purchase.

If Firefin Snapper is expensive, Lesser Mana Potion is an alternative for part of this bracket. That route changes the shopping list and also changes the next step because you will not have banked Fire Oil. Do not combine the materials for both routes as though both were compulsory.

Expert Route: Skill 150-225

Skill targetCraft and planned attemptsIngredients per craftLearning and transition
150-165Elixir of Fire Power – around 152 saved Fire Oil, 1 Kingsblood, 1 Leaded VialLearn from trainer and spend the oils retained from 130-150.
165-195Mana Potion – allow around 361 Stranglekelp, 1 Kingsblood, 1 Leaded VialTrainer recipe; keep the right vial tier.
195-225Nature Protection Potion – allow around 361 Liferoot, 1 Stranglekelp, 1 Leaded VialRequires Recipe: Nature Protection Potion. Buy it on the character learning the recipe.

The Nature Protection recipe is a genuine bottleneck. Get the recipe first; otherwise the final 195-225 row is only a shopping list for materials you cannot yet use. Because the recipe becomes yellow and later green, the planned 36 crafts are a budget starting point, not guaranteed 30 skill-ups. Artisan training can be learned at Alchemy 200 if you meet the level requirement, even though you are still crafting within the Expert range.

Artisan Launch Plan: Skill 225-300

This segment is a launch plan based on current Forever records. There is no measured post-launch craft average yet; herb prices, training access and your existing patterns may lead to a different path.

Skill targetCraft and planned attemptsIngredients per craftLearning and transition
225-230Nature Protection Potion – allow around 121 Liferoot, 1 Stranglekelp, 1 Leaded VialExisting vendor pattern; by this range it is a green-skill option and needs additional attempts.
230-265Draught of Detect Undead – allow around 451 Arthas’ Tears, 1 Crystal VialSkill 230 recipe. Yellow at 245 and green by 265 in current data. Confirm the training source available to your faction.
265-290Superior Mana Potion – allow around 302 Sungrass, 2 Blindweed, 1 Crystal VialRequires Recipe: Superior Mana Potion. Yellow by 275; fewer skill-ups near 290 are possible.
290-300Major Frenzy Potion – batch to your actual skill3 Plaguebloom, 2 Blindweed, 1 Imbued VialRequires Recipe: Major Frenzy Potion and Honored with the relevant supply faction; listed at 240 Merchant’s Favor. Green near 297, grey at 300.

There is no free, universal last-ten-points solution. Recipe: Major Frenzy Potion is offered by Nina Surefire for Alliance and Apothecary Durelle for Horde, but the reputation and Favor gate is real. If you already own Recipe: Greater Arcane Elixir and can learn it at 285, its Greater Arcane Elixir recipe (3 Dreamfoil, 1 Mountain Silversage, 1 Crystal Vial per craft) offers a separate route toward 300. Do not count on finding a rare pattern at a fixed price.

The detailed Merchant's Favor farming guide can help if you choose the faction-recipe finish. Buy only the reagents for the recipe you can actually learn; a green Superior Mana Potion can still grant occasional skill-ups, but forcing it all the way to 300 can waste expensive herbs.

Useful Elixirs, Oils and Camp Features

Skill progression is not the only reason to keep some of these crafts. The table separates useful outputs from recipe unlocks that require a separate trip or special access.

Item or craftPractical useAccess or limitation
Elixir of Minor DefenseAn inexpensive early armor buff while leveling.Trainer recipe and starting herbs.
Mana PotionConsumable mana recovery for quests and dungeons.Trainer recipe, Kingsblood and Stranglekelp.
Blackmouth OilA fish-derived intermediate used in selected Alchemy recipes.Alchemy 80 in the current database; 2 Oily Blackmouth plus 1 Empty Vial per craft. This is an optional route, not part of the baseline totals.
Mana WellA camp feature that supplies a mana regeneration buff to eligible players near a campfire.Alchemy 20; 1 Peacebloom plus 1 Empty Vial, shared one-hour camp-feature cooldown. Does not stack with Blessing of Wisdom.
FermenterAdds a camp workstation for recipes that call for it and retains Mana Well utility.Alchemy 140, dungeon Blueprint source associated with Rath’mael; skill alone does not teach the item.
Alchemy LaboratoryAdvanced camp workstation for recipes that specifically require it.Alchemy 300 and a separate Blueprint; its exact release acquisition is not yet established.

Blizzard confirms that a campfire can hold profession objects, and that sitting or doing eligible crafting near a camp can provide its benefits after roughly a minute. Camp items share a one-hour cooldown and class-equivalent buffs do not stack. The complete object rules and camp upgrades belong to our WoW Forever Camping Guide.

Materials Kit or Completed Alchemy Skill?

If you want to train Alchemy yourself, the main cost is finding the right herbs, fish and vials in the correct order. A Profession Kit is a material package for a specified crafting range, not a finished profession. It does not automatically include trainer visits, vendor formulae, special recipe unlocks or dungeon Blueprints.

If your goal is to finish a selected profession skill range without doing every craft yourself, compare the current Alchemy Leveling service. The stated service covers the agreed Alchemy target, materials and trainer fees. It does not automatically include every Alchemy recipe, Herbalism leveling or separate special drops. Both offer types are tied to launch availability, so check the current product scope before choosing.

You can also use the WoW Forever Profession Tier List if you are still choosing between Alchemy and another primary profession. The guide you are reading is for a character who has decided to level Alchemy.

Alchemy Leveling FAQ

Can I still level Alchemy by making regular Healing Potions?

No. The familiar Healing Potion progression has moved to First Aid in WoW Forever. Alchemy still has its own consumables, including Discolored Healing Potions, mana potions and elixirs. Use the Alchemy recipe book instead of an unchanged Classic healing-potion path.

Do I need Herbalism to reach 300 Alchemy?

No. Herbalism is a useful second primary profession because it supplies most of the route’s herbs, but you can buy them or use another character to gather them. Oils also need fish or intermediate materials, so Herbalism will not supply every reagent.

Why did my Alchemy skill stop increasing at 75, 150 or 225?

You may have hit your current rank cap. Train Journeyman, Expert or Artisan as appropriate. If your cap is already higher, look at the recipe color: a grey recipe cannot raise your skill, and green recipes give points less reliably.

What if the Nature Protection or Superior Mana recipe is not on the trainer?

Both have separate recipe-item records. Nature Protection has vendor sources in Feralas, Stranglethorn Vale and Tanaris. Superior Mana is listed with limited-stock suppliers in Darnassus and Undercity. Check the relevant recipe item and vendor before buying herbs for that row.

Is the 290-300 Alchemy finish guaranteed with a material kit?

No fixed number of crafts is guaranteed when recipes turn yellow or green. Major Frenzy Potion requires a specific reputation and Favor unlock, while alternative recipes have their own acquisition conditions. A material-only kit does not unlock those patterns or do the crafting for you.

Does Alchemy 20 automatically teach the advanced Mana Well stations?

No. Basic Mana Well is an early Alchemy camp craft, while Fermenter and Alchemy Laboratory have higher skill requirements and separate Blueprint access. The shared camp cooldown and object slots also still apply.
