WoW Forever Warlock Epic Mount Guide: Dreadsteed Quest

WoW Forever Warlock Dreadsteed Quest Guide artwork featuring a dark Warlock summoning a fiery demonic horse, with Scholomance, Dire Maul West and ritual reagents.

To earn the Summon Dreadsteed spell in WoW Forever, reach Level 60 as a Warlock, begin the Mor’zul Bloodbringer questline, collect its ritual materials, complete a step in Scholomance, and perform the final summoning in Dire Maul West. The result is a Warlock-only epic class mount, not an item you can trade to another character.

This walkthrough was checked against WoW Forever 1.60.1 quest entries and Wowhead Forever pages on October 27, 2026. The full Level 60 game is scheduled to open on November 4. Some third-party databases reuse original Classic quest text, so the material counts below are the best currently documented Forever-category requirements, not a post-launch in-game test. Final vendor prices, dungeon access and unusual group shortcuts still need confirmation in the released client. Later Classic expansion guides sometimes list smaller reagent quantities; check the version before buying materials.

Dreadsteed Quest at a Glance

QuestionWoW Forever answer
Who can complete it?A Level 60 Warlock, Alliance or Horde. This is not a generic riding quest.
Where does it begin?Get Mor’zul Bloodbringer (7562) from an eligible class quest giver and visit Mor’zul near the Altar of Storms, Burning Steppes (about 12.7, 31.6).
How many quests?12 distinct quest records are associated with the full Dreadsteed chain. Several branches can be advanced in parallel.
Main open-world zonesBurning Steppes, Winterspring and Felwood (Jaedenar / Shadow Hold).
Dungeon objectivesScholomance for Imp Delivery; Dire Maul West for the final Circle of Greater Summoning ritual.
What do you get?The Summon Dreadsteed class spell after the final Dreadsteed Spirit interaction.
Can you plan it before Level 60?You can gather tradeable materials and arrange a group; the Dreadsteed quest records require Level 60.

Fastest practical plan: collect the required trade goods first, accept the opening quests, combine the Winterspring blood farm with your Felwood visit, finish the Burning Steppes hand-ins, complete Scholomance, and bring the necessary ritual tools or a properly equipped helper to Dire Maul West. The quest table below makes the prerequisites explicit.

Before You Start: Quests, Reagents and Group Steps

The biggest source of wasted time is entering a dungeon or travelling back to Burning Steppes while a branch quest or material turn-in is still unfinished. Check these items before organizing the last two instances.

PrepareAmountHow it is used
Raging Beast’s Blood30Quest collection from owlbeasts in Winterspring for Rage of Blood (7563).
Elixir of Shadow Power10Bell of Dethmoora (7626); craft via Alchemy or obtain tradeable finished elixirs.
Large Brilliant Shard6Wheel of the Black March (7627).
Dark Iron Ore25Wheel of the Black March (7627).
Black Dragonscale35Doomsday Candle (7628).
Arcanite Bar3Arcanite (7630), after the bell, wheel and candle branches.
Shadowy PotionAt least 1 useLets you move through hostile Shadow Hold to reach Lord Banehollow. Carry extra if your visit may outlast its 20-minute effect.
Xorothian Stardust1Purchased from Ur’dan during the Felwood quest branch, then delivered to Gorzeeki.
Ritual equipmentThree toolsJ’eevee’s Jar, Xorothian Glyphs and Black Lodestone, or an eligible Warlock who can operate their own tools.

What not to buy twice: the trade goods are turned in to build the ritual components, while the three final summoning tools have historically been reusable. Do not buy a personal set before checking whether a Warlock in your party can bring usable tools. They are soulbound and cannot simply be traded to you. A helper cannot automatically bypass the other quest prerequisites.

Plan for two separate dungeon objectives: Scholomance’s Alchemy Lab and Dire Maul West’s summoning pedestal. Completing your other prerequisites before entering either instance helps avoid extra trips. You will also want spare Soul Shards for the Black Lodestone during the ritual. Neither a specific party size nor a fixed completion time is guaranteed by the current Forever records.

Dreadsteed Quest Assistance: DIY or Full-Chain Help?

If you already have Level 60, the main choice is whether to farm the materials and organize both dungeons yourself or arrange help with the full chain. The Warlock-only reward does not change. The published LepreStore offer covers required quest Gold and materials as well as group stages, but requires an eligible character and available launch content.

You can still follow every step below without buying anything. Before choosing assistance, check your Warlock’s completed quests and bags so neither you nor your group repeats unnecessary work.

Dreadsteed Quest Chain Step by Step

The chain is not one long queue. The Rage of Blood → Wildeyes branch and the Lord Banehollow → Ulathek → Xorothian Stardust branch run alongside one another. After the prerequisites, the Bell, Wheel, Candle and Imp Delivery tasks also allow parallel progress. The table lists all twelve relevant Forever quests.

Starting the Chain: Burning Steppes, Winterspring and Felwood

  1. Visit Mor’zul Bloodbringer at the Altar of Storms camp in northwestern Burning Steppes. Gorzeeki Wildeyes stands nearby (about 12.4, 31.6). Accept the opening work rather than travelling directly to either dungeon.
  2. Do the Winterspring blood branch. Hunt the owlbeasts around the Hidden Grove and other owlbeast areas for 30 Raging Beast’s Blood. This is a quest drop; do not assume a particular drop rate, one-kill guarantee or Auction House supply. Return the blood to Mor’zul and speak to Gorzeeki for Wildeyes.
  3. Do the Felwood branch. Buy and use a Shadowy Potion from Gorzeeki before navigating Jaedenar. In Shadow Hold, meet Lord Banehollow, confront Ulathek and bring back The Traitor’s Heart. Find Ur’dan near Banehollow for Xorothian Stardust, then return it to Gorzeeki.

Route tip: accept both branches before leaving Burning Steppes. They need not be completed in one strict order. Plan flight paths and Hearthstone use around the long Winterspring–Felwood–Burning Steppes loop; the separate WoW Forever Travel Guide covers intercontinental transportation, not these quest objectives.

Preparing the Ritual: Bell, Wheel, Candle and Arcanite

After Wildeyes, take the three construction quests from Mor’zul. They lead back to Gorzeeki, who holds the completed ritual components for you. You do not need to carry the constructed Bell, Wheel and Candle as separate tradeable items.

  1. Turn in 10 Elixirs of Shadow Power for Bell of Dethmoora.
  2. Turn in 6 Large Brilliant Shards and 25 Dark Iron Ore for Wheel of the Black March.
  3. Turn in 35 Black Dragonscales for Doomsday Candle.
  4. Once the three are made, finish Arcanite with 3 Arcanite Bars. This is the Forever quest quantity, not the reduced one-bar requirement shown in some later Classic databases.

Trade goods can come from professions, a guild bank or the Auction House. Compare finished Elixirs of Shadow Power with the cost of having an alchemist craft them; likewise compare finished Arcanite Bars with the required transmute inputs. Crafting is not automatically the cheapest route. The WoW Forever Gold Farming Guide covers general ways to build a materials budget, but this article owns the actual Dreadsteed list.

Dungeon Stages: Scholomance Before Dire Maul

For Imp Delivery (7629), bring Gorzeeki’s Imp in a Jar to the Alchemy Lab in Scholomance, near the Ras Frostwhisper section. Use the jar at the lab and let J’eevee prepare the parchment. Return the quest to Gorzeeki before attempting to finish the class mount. A friend completing a different dungeon objective does not count as your Warlock’s quest turn-in.

Once Imp Delivery and Arcanite are complete, Mor’zul can send you to Dire Maul West for the final ritual. Before entering, identify who has J’eevee’s Jar, Xorothian Glyphs and the Black Lodestone; confirm entrance/key access and bring enough Soul Shards. The tools are soulbound, so an assisting Warlock must be present and operate them rather than simply mailing the items.

Completing Dreadsteed of Xoroth

Enter Dire Maul West with a group prepared to clear to the Prison of Immol’thar. The older Classic route involves clearing the five pylon guardians and the boss Immol’thar to make the pedestal usable. Check the instance’s active access rules on your realm rather than assuming a shortcut or a free pass through the prison.

  1. At the cleared pedestal, the Warlock responsible for the tools uses J’eevee’s Jar to bring out J’eevee and place the Bell, Wheel and Candle for the Circle of Greater Summoning.
  2. Protect the circle against waves of demons. If a ritual node loses power, the tool-holder uses the Black Lodestone and a Soul Shard to restart it. Watch all three objects, not only the enemies.
  3. When the circle is empowered and the rune phase completes, use Xorothian Glyphs to summon the Xorothian Dreadsteed. Defeat the steed and handle Lord Hel’nurath, who enters during the encounter.
  4. Speak to the Dreadsteed Spirit to turn in Dreadsteed of Xoroth (7631). Check your spellbook for Summon Dreadsteed before leaving.

The exact add timing and encounter tuning may change with the Forever release. The important objective is to complete the quest and receive the spell, not merely to defeat the boss while another Warlock gets credit.

Dungeon Preparation and Ritual Roles

RoleWhat to do
Questing WarlockConfirm all quest branches, carry the necessary Soul Shards, have final quest active, and interact with Dreadsteed Spirit for the reward.
Ritual tool-holderBring or purchase the three tools, start J’eevee, maintain the Bell/Wheel/Candle nodes and use the Glyphs at the correct moment.
Front line / controlKeep the ritual area clear, intercept tougher demons and avoid forcing enemies onto vulnerable party members.
Heals and recoveryKeep the group alive across repeated demon waves and prepare resources before activating the final summon.

How to avoid a failed trip: finish the Scholomance parchment objective first; double-check each member’s entrance access and quest state; clear the arena; assign one person to call out failing nodes. If the group wipes or the circle resets, inspect the ritual objects and remaining shards before repeating the event. The pre-launch records do not justify a guaranteed recovery shortcut or a fixed minimum party composition.

Gold and Reagent Budget: What You Really Need to Pay

The only reliable total is one calculated from your own inventory and the actual realm prices at the time you buy. Quest-item quantities are specified, but Forever’s final vendor prices and first-week Auction House rates are not independently confirmed. Keep these costs separate:

Cost categoryHow to budgetPotential saving
Fixed-price quest vendor itemsCheck Ur’dan’s Xorothian Stardust and Gorzeeki’s Shadowy Potion price in your current client. Buy enough potion uses for the Felwood visit.A clean route through Shadow Hold limits repeated potion purchases.
Crafted and gathering materialsPrice 10 Shadow Power Elixirs + 6 Large Brilliant Shards + 25 Dark Iron Ore + 35 Black Dragonscales + 3 Arcanite Bars, minus items you already hold.Compare finished goods, crafting inputs, personal professions and guild supply.
Three ritual toolsPrice J’eevee’s Jar, Xorothian Glyphs and Black Lodestone separately if your group needs a new set.Ask a Warlock who already owns working tools to operate their set in your Dire Maul group.
Dungeon access and preparationBudget any travel, repair and consumable needs for the two instances.Combine quest trips and make sure the group knows the pylon/ritual objectives.

Budget formula: total Gold needed = current vendor purchases + sum of (quantity still needed × current unit price) for each trade good + tools you must buy + optional dungeon supplies. For example, if you already have 12 Black Dragonscales, price 23 more, not all 35. Quest blood is collected separately, so don’t invent an Auction House price for it.

Older Classic guides commonly cite a 150-Gold Stardust cost and a substantial additional summoning-tool budget. Those are historical reference figures, not verified Forever launch quotes; do not treat them as a fixed total or a guaranteed discount. Reusable tools may reduce outlay when another eligible Warlock actually accompanies you, but a stranger offering help can have their own fee or availability.

What the Unlock Includes—and What It Does Not

You learn a spell: the quest reward is Summon Dreadsteed, currently documented as a Level 60 Warlock ability. It is cast by your eligible Warlock while outside combat and is not a transferable equipment item. The Forever tooltip differs from some older Classic tooltips in how it presents mounted speed; avoid treating an older number or another mount’s riding requirement as a verified universal rule.

You do not automatically unlock mounts for other characters. The reward does not complete the class chain on your alts, finish Felsteed quests, grant another class a Dreadsteed, or remove unrelated mount ownership and riding rules. For ordinary riding tiers, faction and collection mounts, read the WoW Forever Mounts Guide. This class quest also does not replace your Warlock builds and leveling plans.

Warlock Epic Mount FAQ

Do I have to be Level 60 to start the Dreadsteed quest in WoW Forever?

The Forever records show a Level 60 Warlock requirement for the Dreadsteed chain. You can stockpile tradeable materials in advance; that is not the same as completing the class quests early.

Can Alliance and Horde Warlocks complete the same Dreadsteed quest?

Yes. The Dreadsteed quest and Summon Dreadsteed spell are Warlock-specific and available to both factions. Initial quest-giver locations can differ; the main chain converges at Mor’zul and Gorzeeki in Burning Steppes.

Can I skip the 12 quests by buying the summoning items?

No. Buying or borrowing ritual tools is not proof that the game will waive your required quest progress. Complete the relevant personal chain and final quest objective. Another Warlock’s tools only help with the ritual portion if the current client permits their use.

What if I already finished some Dreadsteed quests?

Check your quest log, completed quest history and remaining objectives before gathering materials. Someone who already turned in Bell of Dethmoora should not buy ten more elixirs for that completed hand-in. Confirm the next offered quest with Mor’zul or Gorzeeki.

Do I need to run both Scholomance and Dire Maul West?

The current quest records use the Scholomance Alchemy Lab for Imp Delivery and the Dire Maul West pedestal for the final ritual. Do not assume that completing one dungeon, or clearing its final boss without your quest active, grants the spell.

Can I borrow the ritual reagents from another Warlock?

You cannot trade the soulbound tools to another character. A Warlock who owns a working set can historically join your group and operate it; confirm that this helper route remains functional in the live Forever instance. It does not skip the blood, stardust or other personal quest requirements.

How much Gold does the Dreadsteed cost?

There is no verified fixed Forever release total before the Level 60 game opens. You need the trade goods listed above plus current vendor purchases unless a permitted helper supplies ritual tools. Auction prices, your existing materials and other group costs change the bill.

What is included in LepreStore’s Warlock Epic Mount service?

The published Warlock Epic Mount service covers the full supported chain, required quest Gold and materials and group stages, ending when Summon Dreadsteed is learned on your selected eligible Level 60 Warlock. Character leveling, an additional alt’s mount and unrelated quests are separate. The current offer is a launch pre-order with character, regional and scheduling requirements.
