The quickest practical way across WoW Forever is usually a short chain of boats, zeppelins, discovered flight paths and the Deeprun Tram—not a cross-continent run. Alliance characters can sail from Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, Horde characters can travel between Orgrimmar, Undercity and Grom’gol by zeppelin, and either faction can use the new Tanaris-to-Riverglades ship. A good route starts with the transport you can actually reach and avoids unnecessary transfers or dangerous roads.
WoW Forever keeps ground mounts and flight-master rides, not player-controlled flying mounts. Blizzard has announced three new ship connections; the expanded taxi network and Skyborne transports are documented in beta-client records and quest text. The beta closed on October 23, 2026, and the Level-60 launch is scheduled for November 4, 2026. Exact pier positions, sailing direction and departure times still need launch-client checks. In particular, a flight connection shown in game files does not guarantee that the corresponding flight master is available to players.
WoW Forever Quick Route Finder
Start with your destination, then choose a safe transfer rather than walking across entire zones. Ordinary flight routes require discovered and available flight masters; new routes copied from beta data may remain hidden at launch. The table is a practical planning shortlist, not a timed ranking of the fastest paths.
| You want to reach | Practical route | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Darnassus from Stormwind | Stormwind Harbor → Auberdine ship → Rut’theran Village ship → Darnassus portal | Alliance |
| Stormwind from Teldrassil | Rut’theran Village → Auberdine → Stormwind Harbor | Alliance |
| Ironforge from Stormwind | Deeprun Tram from Stormwind’s Dwarven District to Ironforge’s Tinker Town | Alliance |
| Southshore from Menethil Harbor | Take the new service connecting Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine; confirm the next stop and sailing direction at the dock | Alliance |
| Theramore from Wetlands | Menethil Harbor → Theramore ship; this is a different service from the Southshore loop | Alliance |
| Undercity from Orgrimmar | Orgrimmar zeppelin towers outside the city → Tirisfal Glades tower near Undercity | Horde |
| Stranglethorn Vale from Orgrimmar | Orgrimmar → Grom’gol zeppelin | Horde |
| Booty Bay from Ratchet | Ratchet → Booty Bay ship | Both; neutral ports |
| Riverglades from Tanaris | Steamwheedle Port → Powderfuse Port ship, then continue by road; check taxi availability before relying on a flight from the port | Both; neutral ship |
| Alliance Skyborne mainland arrival | From Valanaar, follow The Magical City of Dalaran and take the skycutter to Dalaran in Alterac | High Order Skyborne story route |
| Horde Skyborne mainland arrival | From Valanaar, follow The Earthen Ring and take the skycutter to Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore | Windshaper Skyborne story route |
Before you leave: talk to available flight masters and learn their points; a route in a beta database may not be usable in the actual game. Check dock signs and nearby transport NPCs before boarding. For a complex journey, the Forever travel planner can help compare transfers, but its saved beta data cannot establish live ship timers or whether a hidden node has opened.
Choose the Next Step That Fits Your Journey
The public transport routes above are free to use in game. If reaching the destination is part of a bigger leveling or dungeon goal, choose a separate next step—none of these services grants a private ferry or instant teleport.
What Travel Routes Are New in WoW Forever?
Blizzard’s Found Photos panel recap confirms three new ship connections. It names the ports but does not establish a reliable minute-by-minute schedule or the order in which every multi-stop ship will call. Keep these announced crossings separate from later community route maps.
| New transport | What connects | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Stormwind Harbor ship | Stormwind ↔ Auberdine, Darkshore | Direct early Alliance crossing between Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor |
| Menethil / Southshore / Auberdine service | Menethil Harbor, Southshore and Auberdine on a multi-stop route | New Hillsbrad stop, but do not presume a verified sailing order |
| Steamwheedle Cartel ship | Steamwheedle Port, Tanaris ↔ Powderfuse Port, Riverglades | A new neutral crossing useful to both factions |
Community maps have depicted the three-port crossing as a circular service, sometimes in the order Menethil → Southshore → Auberdine. Blizzard has confirmed the three destinations, not that exact direction, so treat the reported order as a planning hint until the launch client confirms it. The Skyborne skycutters and new Riverglades or Mount Hyjal flight points come from separate quest and beta-client evidence, not the three announced sea routes.
Alliance Boats, Docks and Deeprun Tram
Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine and Darnassus
Travel to Stormwind Harbor and take the ship marked for Auberdine in Darkshore. This new direct connection removes the need for a long detour through the Wetlands just to bring a Human character to Night Elf territory—or to bring a Night Elf character toward Stormwind. Once in Auberdine, switch to the separate Rut’theran Village boat, then use the ground-level portal to reach Darnassus on Teldrassil.
Going back is the reverse: leave Darnassus for Rut’theran, take the Auberdine boat, then choose the ship to Stormwind Harbor. The Auberdine docks are a junction, not a single combined service. Look for the destination of the specific boat before you step on.
Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine: Choosing the Correct Boat
Blizzard announced a new service linking Menethil Harbor in Wetlands, Southshore in Hillsbrad Foothills and Auberdine in Darkshore. It is particularly useful for Alliance characters trying to reach Hillsbrad without walking from another distant hub.
- At Menethil Harbor: look for the ship serving Southshore and Auberdine. Menethil also has a separate boat to Theramore; do not assume the next vessel serves your destination.
- At Southshore: board the crossing identified for the Wetlands/Darkshore route and confirm its next announced stop before committing to a long transfer.
- At Auberdine: distinguish this service from the ships for Stormwind Harbor and Rut’theran Village, which serve different journeys.
Some beta maps describe a one-way circular order of Menethil → Southshore → Auberdine → Menethil. That specific sequence is not established in Blizzard’s published route announcement. Check the ship’s actual next stop in-game rather than expecting a symmetric shuttle or guaranteed direct return trip.
Classic Alliance Connections That Still Matter
Other useful crossings remain the Auberdine ↔ Rut’theran Village ship and the local ferry between Feathermoon Stronghold and the Forgotten Coast in Feralas. These are not three additional Forever announcements; they are part of the underlying Classic transport network.
Stormwind to Ironforge Without Crossing Wetlands
Enter the Deeprun Tram station in Stormwind’s Dwarven District or Ironforge’s Tinker Town. The underground train connects the two cities without requiring a dangerous road journey. This is often the simplest answer for a Human meeting Dwarf or Gnome friends, especially before learning wider flight paths. The tram does not go to any third city.
Horde Zeppelin Routes and Common Mistakes
Horde long-distance travel still revolves around three Classic zeppelin connections. From Orgrimmar, follow the road outside the main gate to the towers in Durotar. For Undercity departures, use the zeppelin tower outside Lordaeron in Tirisfal Glades. The Stranglethorn stop is at Grom’gol Base Camp.
| Zeppelin | Best use | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Orgrimmar ↔ Undercity | Move between Durotar and northern Eastern Kingdoms | Board at the towers outside the capital, not a city flight master |
| Orgrimmar ↔ Grom’gol | Reach Stranglethorn Vale or southern Eastern Kingdoms quests | Grom’gol is a Horde outpost, not Booty Bay |
| Undercity ↔ Grom’gol | Connect northern Eastern Kingdoms with Stranglethorn without crossing the continent on foot | Check the zeppelin’s endpoint before boarding |
There is no ordinary Orgrimmar-to-Thunder Bluff zeppelin in this network. Horde players visiting Thunder Bluff can use a discovered flight point or travel by road through the Barrens to Mulgore. A Skyborne quest skycutter reaches Skywatcher Plateau from Zephras Isle; it is not an Orgrimmar–Thunder Bluff link.
Neutral Boats: Ratchet, Booty Bay and Riverglades
The longstanding neutral ship between Ratchet in the Barrens and Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale remains useful for moving between continents, especially if your faction lacks a convenient direct port near your objective. Neutral transport does not mean every surrounding guard or rival-faction player is harmless.
The major Forever addition is the goblin ship between Steamwheedle Port on the Tanaris coast and Powderfuse Port in the new Riverglades zone. It is a public crossing for both factions. After arriving, follow the road toward your faction’s settlement or confirm that your intended flight master is actually enabled. Do not plan around a usable Powderfuse taxi: the later October beta client still flagged its flight nodes as hidden, even though another beta data table lists a link to Farholde Keep. For quest hubs, the 35–45 leveling range and Krol’dok Stronghold, see our WoW Forever Riverglades Guide.
Which way is better: road or ship? If you are already in Redridge Mountains or Burning Steppes, the eastern road into Riverglades can be sensible. If you are in Tanaris or southern Kalimdor, the Steamwheedle ship avoids a completely different overland approach. Without measured wait times, neither can honestly be called universally faster.
Skyborne Travel: Leaving Zephras Isle for Dalaran or Mulgore
Skyborne characters begin on Zephras Isle and reach the Valanaar skydocks through their starting questline. The two mainland routes are part of different faction story quests, not freely interchangeable replacements for the normal transport network.
| Skyborne faction | Quest and transport | Mainland arrival |
|---|---|---|
| High Order (Alliance) | The Magical City of Dalaran — take the skycutter at Valanaar | Dalaran in Alterac Mountains; speak with Denaaris Stargale |
| Windshaper (Horde) | The Earthen Ring — take the skycutter at Valanaar | Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore; speak with Alaana Stormwalker |
The two quest records give useful starting leads: Elaadrin Evengale begins the Alliance hand-off near /way 66.6 79.9 on Zephras Isle, while Ayessa Dawnsinger offers the Horde hand-off near /way 59.1 79.8. These are beta-client quest records, so follow the active quest markers if coordinates change at launch. The Horde route is called a skycutter ship in its quest text; do not confuse it with the Orgrimmar zeppelin network.
Both routes belong to the paid-unlock Skyborne starting experience. For which characters can be Skyborne, how to unlock the race and its faction-specific classes, see our Skyborne Race Guide.
Reaching Dalaran does not unlock its dungeon. The Dalaran city area and the City of Dalaran five-player instance have separate entry requirements. A skycutter ticket does not complete the faction dungeon quests or grant every group member a Dalaran Sewer Key; the WoW Forever Dungeons Guide owns those details.
WoW Forever New Flight Paths: Which Ones Are Actually Available?
Blizzard has not published an exhaustive final flight-master table. An initial September beta-file comparison found five added taxi nodes: three in Riverglades and two in Mount Hyjal. A later October client-data review distinguishes flight routes listed in game files from nodes actually visible or usable by players. The distinction matters most at Powderfuse Port.
| Flight point | Faction | Connections in beta records | Availability caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farholde Keep, Riverglades | Alliance | Lakeshire, Thelsamar and Morgan’s Vigil; a data link to Powderfuse Port | Use discovered, active routes; the Powderfuse destination may remain hidden |
| Powderfuse Port, Riverglades | Alliance node in early map data | Farholde Keep | Marked hidden in later October beta records; do not treat this as an assured usable taxi |
| Rog’mar, Riverglades | Horde | Stonard, Hammerfall, Kargath and Flame Crest | Record of route links, not proof every path is already learned by your character |
| Tainted Foothills, Mount Hyjal | Both | Everlook and Summit of Eternity | Later-stage content; confirm access in the release client |
| Summit of Eternity, Mount Hyjal | Both | Tainted Foothills | Later-stage content; confirm access in the release client |
Riverglades fallback: use the confirmed Tanaris ship to Powderfuse Port, then take roads to your faction’s quest hub until a flight master is visibly enabled. The appearance of a flight line in beta data is not the same as an unlockable connection. For Hyjal, the recorded Everlook → Tainted Foothills → Summit of Eternity route is useful for future planning, but it is not a tested launch-day shortcut at every level.
Mage Portals, Hearthstone and Travel Perks
A Mage Teleport Is Not the Same as a Group Portal
A Mage’s Teleport moves the caster; a Portal is the group-friendly spell. In Forever’s documented spell data, standard city teleports open before corresponding portals, and the two consume different purchased reagents: a Rune of Teleportation or a Rune of Portals. Normal Alliance destinations include Stormwind, Ironforge and Darnassus; normal Horde destinations include Orgrimmar, Undercity and Thunder Bluff. Whether you can cast a particular spell depends on your level, training and faction.
Do not promise a Mage portal to Dalaran. Forever beta spell records add Teleport: Dalaran at level 50 for Human, Gnome and High Order Skyborne Mages. It transports the caster, not the party, and there is no matching general Portal: Dalaran in the checked spell list. Verify actual trainer availability in the live client. The Skyborne quest skycutter and the City of Dalaran dungeon key are separate travel and access mechanics.
Hearthstone, Discovered Taxis and Frequent Flier
Bind your Hearthstone near the quest hub, dungeon meeting point or capital where you expect to return—not necessarily where you started. Move the binding point only after finishing the previous region’s errands. A long quest chain with several turn-ins is easier when you have one reliable return location and have learned the transport nodes along the way.
The new Frequent Flier Adventure Legacy perk reduces flight-path fares by 50% and increases taxi flight speed by 20% according to the Forever spell record; Blizzard also describes the perk. These effects apply to flight-master rides, not boats, zeppelins or ground movement. The Legacy System Guide owns perk prerequisites and points, while the Mounts Guide covers ground riding costs and unlocks.
Step-by-Step Common Travel Plans
Meet Human and Night Elf Friends
- From Darnassus, take the portal down to Rut’theran Village; from Stormwind, go to Stormwind Harbor.
- Use the Rut’theran ↔ Auberdine boat if starting on Teldrassil.
- Take the Auberdine ↔ Stormwind Harbor ship for the intercontinental crossing.
- For Ironforge, finish with the Deeprun Tram from Stormwind.
This route is especially useful for low-level Alliance characters who want to group without repeating the old Wetlands journey. It does not eliminate ordinary faction travel requirements or the need to reach the correct dock.
Move a Horde Group Across the Continents
- From Orgrimmar, choose the zeppelin for either Undercity (northern Eastern Kingdoms) or Grom’gol (Stranglethorn).
- If already near Undercity and your destination is Stranglethorn, use Undercity ↔ Grom’gol directly rather than first returning to Orgrimmar.
- Continue from the landing through your learned flight paths or safe roads.
The group should agree on the actual dock or flight master, not just the continent. Players can be in the same zone and still stand at opposite ends of a hostile road.
Reach Riverglades Without Guessing a Road Shortcut
- Starting in Tanaris: reach Steamwheedle Port, board for Powderfuse Port and continue into Riverglades.
- Alliance in Eastern Kingdoms: approach via nearby eastern roads when suitable or use learned flights to Farholde Keep once discovered.
- Horde in Eastern Kingdoms: use the relevant regional flight routes toward Rog’mar once unlocked, or approach overland where appropriate.
- Confirm your next quest giver’s location with our Riverglades route guide before changing continents a second time.
Plan Dalaran and Mount Hyjal Separately
For City of Dalaran, first check your faction’s dungeon quest and key requirements in the dungeon guide. Being transported to the outdoor Dalaran settlement does not automatically satisfy them. For Mount Hyjal, the beta network records Everlook → Tainted Foothills → Summit of Eternity, but that does not prove every flight is active on November 4 or usable before you reach the area at a suitable level.
Avoid These Travel Mistakes
- Boarding by appearance: Auberdine and Menethil have several services. Read destination signs and distinguish the Theramore ship from the new Southshore loop.
- Assuming a verified sailing order: Blizzard confirmed Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine as connected stops, but not the exact departure schedule or directional sequence.
- Assuming every flight point is available: some routes are hidden in beta data, especially Powderfuse Port; a map line is not an unlocked taxi.
- Assuming a neutral ferry makes the destination safe: docks can be shared even when nearby quests, roads or guards are dangerous for your faction.
- Looking for an Orgrimmar–Thunder Bluff zeppelin: use the regular Horde road or flight network. The Zephras Isle skycutter goes to Mulgore as part of a Skyborne quest, not from Orgrimmar.
- Confusing a Mage Teleport with a Portal: not every personal destination is a service a Mage can open for the group.
- Assuming a ship or portal unlocks a dungeon: City of Dalaran’s quest and key requirements still apply.
- Believing fixed travel-time claims: beta route planners differ on network data and omit live queue/wait time. Choose a workable route with few transfers and validate your flight nodes in game.
Travel troubleshooting: if a transport is missing, check whether you are at the correct dock or route, whether a flight point is available to your faction and character, and whether a fresh game notice reports maintenance. Do not treat a fixed October beta transport bug as an ongoing launch issue.
WoW Forever Travel FAQ
Does WoW Forever have flying mounts?
No. Public flight-master taxis exist, but player-controlled flying mounts are not part of Forever’s announced Classic-inspired world. Boats, zeppelins, ground riding and walkable connections remain important.
How do I get from Stormwind to Darnassus?
Take the new ship from Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, then change to the Rut’theran Village boat and use the Darnassus portal. Check the correct Auberdine dock before boarding.
Can Horde take a boat to Riverglades?
Yes. The neutral Steamwheedle Port ↔ Powderfuse Port ferry connects Tanaris with Riverglades for both factions. Continue to the appropriate Horde route or discovered flight master after arriving.
Is there a direct zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Thunder Bluff?
No ordinary direct Orgrimmar–Thunder Bluff zeppelin appears in the documented routes. The separate Skyborne quest skycutter travels from Valanaar on Zephras Isle to Mulgore, not from Orgrimmar.
Is the Menethil–Southshore–Auberdine boat a round trip?
Blizzard confirms a ship connection linking Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine, but does not establish its exact order or frequency. A circular sailing order appears on community maps; check the next stop before boarding instead of assuming a direct, symmetric return.
Is there a usable flight path at Powderfuse Port?
Do not rely on one for launch planning yet. Early beta maps included a Farholde Keep connection, but a later October beta-client review still marked the Powderfuse flight nodes hidden. Use the Tanaris ship and regional roads until you can confirm an active flight master in game.
How do Skyborne reach the mainland?
High Order Skyborne follow The Magical City of Dalaran and take a skycutter from Valanaar to Dalaran. Windshaper Skyborne follow The Earthen Ring and take their skycutter to Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore. Each route is tied to the starting questline and Skyborne access.
Can a Mage open a portal to Dalaran for my group?
No general group Portal: Dalaran appears in the checked Forever spell list. The level-50 Teleport: Dalaran is a personal spell for Human, Gnome and High Order Skyborne Mages. The Skyborne skycutter and dungeon attunement are separate.
Do I have to buy an upgrade to use the new boats?
The new public ship routes are world travel, not advertised upgrade-edition unlocks. Skyborne characters and some of their story quests have separate race-access rules; the public ship network should not be confused with the optional Skyborne Heroic Pack.
