Escalation is the endgame mode , introduced in Year 8 Season 1 (Rise Up). Accessible from the Base of Operations, it applies to a weekly rotating set of five main missions and strongholds. Each mission has 10 tiers of difficulty – Tier 1 feels like Heroic, while Tier 10 pushes enemies to absurd levels with 700% health and armor, 500% more damage, and brutal mutators.

The primary reason to push through Escalation is Prototype Gear, an item tier that sits above everything else in the game. Prototype items roll with stats up to 1.5× higher than normal High-End gear. The lowest possible roll on a Prototype piece is the maximum roll from normal gear.

Drop chances scale with tiers:

• Tier 1: 0.2% drop chance per enemy.
• Tier 10: 1.5% drop chance per enemy.
