What is in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1? MW4 Season 1 adds the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and CSG-35 SMG through the Battle Pass, new Multiplayer maps including Backstab, Canyon and Shoot House, the X01 Black Site in DMZ, Warzone integration, a 100-tier Battle Pass, and seasonal events offering camos, weapon modifications and cosmetics. The official season start date is November 6, 2026 at midnight Eastern Time.
If you want to make the most of this season, the smartest first step is not to chase everything at once. Choose between the new guns, a specific camo, a new map or a DMZ objective. Each has a different unlock path, and getting a weapon to maximum level is not the same thing as unlocking a Battle Pass gun or an event-only Apex Attachment.
MW4 Season 1 at a Glance
MW4 Season 1 Launch Checklist: What to Do Before November 6
Season 1 starts on November 6, 2026 at 00:00 ET. You do not need to complete every challenge before launch. Use this checklist to decide what to prepare now and what to claim once the relevant playlist or Event appears.
- Pick your first reward. Choose the Cronen Osprey at free Battle Pass Tier 16, the CSG-35 at Tier 36, a seasonal camo, or a DMZ or Warzone objective. The unlock methods are not interchangeable.
- Get two reliable weapons match-ready. Level the guns you plan to use and unlock useful attachments before experimenting with Season 1 builds. See the MW4 Weapon Leveling guide for the normal attachment route.
- Choose a Multiplayer map for your challenge type. Fast, close-range fights and long-range precision tasks favor different maps; compare the MW4 map list before you queue.
- Plan your Battle Pass path. The two free base weapons unlock through the pass, while JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk are scheduled as Event rewards. Premium cosmetics and BlackCell are optional for the free base guns.
- Set a Warzone starting mode. Choose Hajin for a large Battle Royale environment or Zodiac for compact Resurgence. Rally Point is announced as a lower-pressure place to learn the new Warzone systems; it has its own rewards.
- Keep challenges separated. Normal Weapon XP, Battle Pass tiers, Event Trophies, and mode-specific Mastery Camos use different progress rules. Check your chosen challenge before spending time farming it.
- Use the right support route. If you want to play Multiplayer yourself while working on eligible weapon XP or camo objectives, compare MW4 Bot Lobbies. Do not assume a hosted Multiplayer session completes Warzone-only or DMZ extraction objectives.
First-day order: claim and inspect the free season track, check which Event challenges are active, equip your prepared loadouts, and try one relevant playlist before committing to a longer grind. This keeps your first session focused on progress that actually counts toward your chosen reward.
MW4 Season 1 Roadmap: What You Can Unlock
The season is split between content tied to its initial release and additions scheduled for later in the season. The table below separates those tracks so a player chasing a particular gun or event reward does not start with the wrong activity.
| Content | Season 1 roadmap | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| New guns | Cronen Osprey and CSG-35 through free Battle Pass weapon tiers; JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk through in-season Events | Choose the Battle Pass gun you want first; check the Event track for the other two. |
| Multiplayer | Backstab, Canyon, Shoot House, Kill Block: Crash; Grind, Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1 | Pick a playlist for the fights or objectives you actually need. |
| Mid-season Multiplayer | Ministry, Overflow and further announced map/mode additions | Use the Season 1 map list to choose a future playlist, not to claim a live XP rate. |
| DMZ | X01 Black Site, Ghost Orders, bosses and Threat Briefing / Resupply Run Events | Plan an extraction objective and the gear needed to survive. |
| Warzone | MW4 integration, Hajin and Zodiac alongside Verdansk and Rebirth Island | Prepare useful weapon builds, then follow the requirements in the chosen Warzone mode. |
| Seasonal rewards | Wager Match Trophies, Weapon Camo Events, Joint Fire, new Attachments and cosmetics | Match the reward to its specific Event rather than a normal weapon-level track. |
The official announcement is a content roadmap, not a guarantee that every item uses the same playlist, objective or unlock method. Season 1 is the umbrella; weapon levels, event challenges and mode-specific Mastery Camos remain separate forms of progress.
Choose the Right Progression Path
Once you know which reward matters, start with the method that actually contributes to it. Weapon levels, hosted Multiplayer playtime and full camo orders solve different problems.
All MW4 Season 1 Weapons and How to Unlock Them
Four base weapons are announced for Season 1, but their acquisition methods are not identical. Two unlock through the Battle Pass; the shotgun and melee weapon are tied to later seasonal Events. The new guns are not simply rewards for leveling a launch weapon to its maximum.
| Weapon | Type | Unlock method | Use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cronen Osprey | Assault rifle | Free base weapon at Battle Pass Tier 16 | High-fire-rate rifle for mixed lanes and objective play |
| CSG-35 | SMG | Free base weapon at Battle Pass Tier 36 | Rapid close-range pushes and flanking |
| JAK 12 | Automatic shotgun | In-season Event reward | Very close-range fights and room clearing |
| ZLR Talonhawk | Melee weapon | In-season Event reward | Melee-focused challenges and aggressive close approaches |
Cronen Osprey: Battle Pass Tier 16
The Cronen Osprey is a 5.56 assault rifle with an official 882 RPM fire rate, a 30-round magazine and 70 weapon levels. It combines high output with manageable handling, although its recoil climbs up and to the right during sustained fire. This makes it a good first seasonal target if your usual matches include both medium-range and close-range gunfights.
The weapon also has an Apex conversion called the Cronen Helix Mk. II. Its double-barrel receiver fires on both trigger pull and release, creating a very different weapon rhythm. Unlocking the base rifle through Battle Pass Tier 16 and progressing the rifle to its supported modifications are distinct steps; do not mistake the separate Tier 87 Cronen Osprey Blueprint for the base-weapon unlock.
CSG-35: Battle Pass Tier 36
The CSG-35 focuses on close-range pressure. Activision lists a 1,200 RPM rate of fire, a 28-round magazine and 42 weapon levels. You get a very fast stream of shots at short distance, but recoil control becomes harder at longer ranges. Its CSG Crossfire Apex conversion turns it into dual-wield SMGs, trading precision for volume of fire.
Choose the CSG-35 over the Cronen Osprey if you enjoy rapid pushes, tight rooms and short objective routes. This is a playstyle recommendation based on their announced handling profiles, not a measured Season 1 meta ranking. The Tier 73 CSG-35 Blueprint is a separate cosmetic reward, not the free Tier 36 base gun.
JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk: Event Unlocks
The JAK 12 is a full-auto shotgun listed as a seasonal Event reward. Its JAK Barrage Apex option launches adhesive explosives. The ZLR Talonhawk is a melee combat axe with no attachment slots. Both are part of the in-season reward plan rather than the two free base-weapon tiers.
When deciding what to farm, check the corresponding Event’s unlock track. A separate Weapon Leveling order can help prepare an eligible gun’s attachments, but it does not automatically complete a limited-time Event objective or unlock an Event-only base weapon. For comparisons of regular weapons and loadouts, use our MW4 Best Weapons Tier List.
MW4 Season 1 Multiplayer Maps
The first three Season 1 Core maps are Backstab, Canyon and Shoot House. Ministry and Overflow belong to the mid-season expansion. They cover different combat ranges; none should be declared the objectively fastest XP map without comparable real match results.
| Map | Roadmap stage | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Backstab | Season 1 initial release | Snowy, damaged town with open shooting lanes, rooftops and interior flanks |
| Canyon | Season 1 initial release | Sun-baked rock walls, river approaches, elevated platforms and mixed-range paths |
| Shoot House | Season 1 initial release | Reimagined classic three-lane 6v6 layout with frequent lane crossings |
| Ministry | Season 1 Reloaded / mid-season | Embassy and diplomatic summit environment |
| Overflow | Season 1 Reloaded / mid-season | Factory grounds and surrounding farmland, with an active rocket convoy nearby |
| Kill Block: Crash | Season 1 featured configuration | Fixed three-Slab Kill Block combination in additional Core playlists |
Is Shipment a Season 1 Map?
Shipment was added on October 27 as preseason content, before the Season 1 release date. Its small remastered harbor layout is useful when you want frequent short-range engagements. That makes it a sensible place to try weapon-level and close-range practice, not proof that every challenge qualifies or that any one playlist earns a guaranteed XP-per-minute rate.
Backstab and Canyon favor players who want to work on varied sightlines. Shoot House and Shipment favor those who enjoy quicker fights and lane control. For detailed map breakdowns, including the launch maps and Kill Block’s modular structure, see the complete MW4 map guide.
New Multiplayer Modes, Kill Block and Wager Matches
The season introduces several ways to fight, but each rewards different decisions:
- Grind: eliminate opponents, collect their dropped tags, then deposit them at one of two Banks. A strong option for players who enjoy aggressive movement and objective scoring.
- Drop Zone: contest a moving area where periodic care packages deliver random Killstreaks. Hold the objective and use available streaks to control the next zone.
- Gauntlet 1v1: a limited-time Gunfight variant associated with the Wager Match Event. Win consecutive duels and collect Event Trophies according to that mode’s rules.
- Kill Block: Crash: a fixed three-Slab configuration of the Kill Block environment that also appears in more Core playlists.
Possession and Infected are separate Halloween preseason additions, not Season 1 Battle Pass weapon unlock methods. Possession transfers players into defeated opponents’ positions and loadouts, while Infected is a survival-versus-infected mode.
For progression, follow the match’s actual objective. A fast game with plenty of eliminations can support some weapon-level tasks, while an Event that rewards Trophies or special actions needs its own dedicated approach. If you plan hosted Multiplayer sessions, review which camo challenges can count in the selected lobby format before booking time.
MW4 Season 1 DMZ: X01 Black Site, Orders and Events
X01 is a new DMZ facility on the edge of the Hajin Exclusion Zone. The announced layout includes cargo bays, underground laboratories, production areas, connected tunnels and the sealed Deep Vault. It is a separate extraction environment; its objectives are not another Multiplayer playlist.
Ghost acts as the mission voice for new X01 Orders, helping guide squads through the facility. The announcement also names Boss Board targets such as The Captain, a Juggernaut with guards, and an autonomous Wheelson. Some loot, mechanics and threats are intentionally not described in the roadmap. Plan around the routes and requirements shown in your active DMZ Orders rather than trusting an invented boss checklist.
Threat Briefing and Resupply Run
- Threat Briefing: Battle Tank: fight the tank in Hajin and extract a tank part. The official event outline specifies one part per deployment, with rewards tied to accumulated parts.
- Threat Briefing: The Captain: locate the Juggernaut in X01, defeat him and extract parts of his helmet for progress toward event rewards.
- Resupply Run: seek the requested supplies at relevant POIs and exchange them for valuable equipment, including Self Revives or 3-Plate Carriers.
If you are working toward a DMZ Mastery Camo, the event’s extraction items and the weapon’s own Mastery counter are different goals. Complete the objective attached to the reward you actually want. The separate MW4 DMZ Helio guide owns the progression path for Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio, while this page explains why X01 and its seasonal activities are worth exploring.
The Forward Operating Base also gains season-related facilities, including a Battle Pass and Store Station. A separate Vendor is described as selling selected gear for DMZ Cash to eligible BlackCell owners; it is not presented as a universal unlock route for non-BlackCell users.
What Changes in Warzone During MW4 Season 1?
Warzone receives full MW4 integration on November 6. The update brings MW4 launch weapons, Weapon Prestige, new maps, revised equipment and Perks, shared Player Level progression, and a separate Warzone Mastery Camo route. Prepare a practical loadout, but treat Warzone’s armor, movement, and squad combat as different from Multiplayer.
Where to Start: Hajin, Zodiac, Verdansk or Rebirth Island?
| Map | Mode focus | Best starting objective |
|---|---|---|
| Hajin | New large Battle Royale map | Learn travel routes, loot locations and safe rotations before optimizing fights. |
| Zodiac | New compact Resurgence map | Practice rapid squad regrouping and close-range loadout choices. |
| Verdansk | Returning Battle Royale map | Compare familiar rotations with the new MW4 movement and equipment. |
| Rebirth Island | Returning Resurgence map | Use familiar space to learn the updated perks and weapon handling. |
New Warzone Gear and Perks to Learn First
The Zipline Launcher creates temporary traversal routes, while the Grabber Drone offers another mobility tool. Season 1 also adds moveable cover, Weapon Augments available through limited Fly Buy Stations, and Elite Perks that occupy a fourth Perk slot. Elite Perks are collected during a match, not automatically selected in the ordinary pre-match Perk slots; examples include Athleticism, Phantom and Fieldcraft.
At launch, Warzone lists Battle Royale and Resurgence with Casual variants, plus Rally Point, Massive Resurgence and Loaded Resurgence. Rally Point on Zodiac is designed for learning mechanics, contracts and engagements; the announced mode also offers an exclusive Blueprint and two camos. Massive Resurgence uses Hajin, while Loaded Resurgence starts players with their chosen loadout on Zodiac or Rebirth Island. These modes have different rules, so do not assume a single XP or camo strategy works identically across them.
Warzone Progression Is Not the Same as Multiplayer Camo Progression
The MW4 weapon lineup joins Warzone with Weapon Prestige and a mode-specific Mastery track. Empyros is the final Warzone Mastery finish, while Orion Reforged belongs to Multiplayer and Helio to DMZ. Preparing the same gun can be useful across modes, but completing one mode’s unique challenges does not automatically finish another’s.
For individual camo requirements and the correct Warzone weapon route, use our Warzone Mastery Camos and Empyros guide. This Season 1 overview concentrates on launch choices rather than repeating the full camo checklist.
MW4 Season 1 Events and Apex Attachment Rewards
Season 1 has several different Event tracks. They matter for progression because not every new Attachment is earned through normal Weapon XP. The official roadmap assigns specific attachments and weapons to Events, and players should chase those rewards in the activity that actually offers them.
Wager Match: Trophies and Apex Attachments
The Wager Match Event uses Trophies earned through its activities. Its announced rewards include an Operator Skin, Blueprint, camo and multiple attachments. The Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight playlist is one Multiplayer route, with additional challenges available across DMZ and Warzone. The event’s own Trophy scoring and top-three placement bonuses are not a substitute for simply leveling a gun.
| Attachment / reward | Weapon | Announced source |
|---|---|---|
| Hyeon Auto Apex | Hyeon Burst AR | Wager Match Event |
| Kastov 545 Apex | Kastov 762 AR | Wager Match Event |
| M16 Burst attachment | M4 AR | Seasonal Event reward |
| TT Iron Guard Kit | .50 GS pistol | Additional in-season attachment |
| ChainSAW Grip | FiNN LMG | Additional in-season attachment |
The Hyeon Auto changes the Hyeon Burst into a full-auto rifle; the Kastov 545 changes the Kastov 762’s ammunition and handling behavior. Both are explicitly tied to Wager Match rewards. The M16 Burst attachment is an M4 Event reward. For a deeper comparison of weapon conversions, see our MW4 Apex Attachments Tier List.
Weapon Camo Events and Joint Fire
Weapon Camo Events offer a separate cosmetic progression track built around gameplay and XP. These should not be confused with completing every Multiplayer, DMZ or Warzone Mastery camo challenge. If your goal is Orion, Helio or Empyros, begin with the relevant mode-specific requirements in our Mastery Camos reference.
Joint Fire rewards playing in a squad: larger squads can activate a stronger event XP boost. Its announced prizes include Blueprints, charms, 2XP Tokens and a DMZ Survival Kit. Players who prefer to farm together can use this event to pursue its own reward line rather than assume one particular squad size is best for all normal Multiplayer leveling.
Match Your Season Goal to a Real Unlock Path
The season offers Event camos as well as separate mode-specific Mastery finishes. Choose the exact finish first, then decide whether to complete the challenges yourself or purchase the appropriate result.
MW4 Season 1 Battle Pass: Tiers, Price and Free Weapons
The MW4 Season 1 Battle Pass uses a linear 100-tier track, with free and paid rewards. The base Cronen Osprey at Tier 16 and CSG-35 at Tier 36 are free-weapon unlocks; buying the premium pass is not required solely to claim those base weapons. The premium track adds cosmetics, Blueprints and additional rewards, not a different mandatory route to the two free base guns.
| Battle Pass choice | What it adds | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Free track | Selected free rewards, including the two new base guns on their designated tiers | Players who mainly need access to new Season 1 weapons |
| Premium Battle Pass: 1,100 CP | Premium rewards, 10% Battle Pass XP boost and catch-up eligibility | Players who want cosmetic and equipment rewards beyond the free track |
| Battle Pass Bundle: 2,400 CP | Premium access with the bundle’s season-specific benefits | Players who want premium access and the bundle package |
| BlackCell | XERO rewards, additional premium cosmetics, 20 Tier Skip Tokens and 1,100 COD Points | Players specifically interested in the extra BlackCell track |
How the Season 1 Catch-Up System Works
Season 1 introduces a catch-up feature for premium Battle Pass owners. According to the official announcement, players who fall behind are automatically brought forward to the reward matching the current day of the season, with that guarantee capped at day 50. That does not mean all 100 tiers unlock automatically and does not apply to every free-track player.
After the catch-up threshold, ordinary Battle Pass play remains important for players chasing full completion. You can still focus on the rewards that matter most to you rather than treating every cosmetic item as essential.
Tier 100 and BlackCell Rewards
Premium Battle Pass completion brings bonus items including the Vantage skin for Blix, the Blue Viper Hyeon Burst Blueprint, 200 COD Points and a DMZ Survival Kit. The announced Tier 100 Ultra Weapon Blueprint is called Bellum for the Mosin-Nagant. Do not confuse that reward with unlocking a new base gun.
BlackCell features the Operator XERO, special Signature Blueprints, additional skin variants and a separate Mastery Camo Track. If all you want is the Cronen Osprey or CSG-35, start with the free Battle Pass weapon tiers, not BlackCell.
Best MW4 Season 1 Progression Order for Your Goal
The most efficient-looking route depends on your target. These are practical planning priorities based on the announced unlock types, not claims about measured XP rates or an undisclosed meta.
| Your goal | Step 1 | Step 2 | Helpful next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Play with a new AR | Advance to Battle Pass Tier 16 for Cronen Osprey | Raise the gun’s levels and tune your build | Weapon Leveling guide or service |
| Play with a new SMG | Advance to Battle Pass Tier 36 for CSG-35 | Test close-range handling and unlock useful attachments | Best Weapons / Weapon Leveling |
| Get Event-only Apex gear | Open the relevant seasonal Event reward track | Complete the Trophy or Event challenges shown there | Compare Apex modifications after unlock |
| Earn a Mastery Camo | Choose Orion (MP), Helio (DMZ), or Empyros (Warzone) | Follow that mode’s actual Mastery requirements | Mastery guide or matching Camo Service |
| Explore the DMZ expansion | Prepare a reliable extraction loadout | Follow Ghost’s X01 Orders and specific Event items | DMZ Helio guide if camo progression is your goal |
| Start Warzone Season 1 | Choose Hajin Battle Royale or Zodiac Resurgence | Try the new movement gear, Perks and loadout rules | Warzone Mastery Camo guide if Empyros is the target |
| Finish Battle Pass cosmetics | Decide free versus premium rewards | Track tier progress and catch-up eligibility | Prioritize the rewards you want, not every playlist |
One useful rule: unlocking a gun, raising its weapon levels, earning an Event item and completing a mode-specific camo are four different jobs. You save effort by identifying the correct one first, instead of assuming all progress comes from the same match type.
DIY or a Boosting Service?
If you like playing the new content yourself, choose a map and mode that match your target and track the relevant reward counter. To speed up the parts you do not enjoy, compare the exact service type: Weapon Leveling for selected guns and their normal level-gated attachments, hosted MW4 Bot Lobbies for self-play Multiplayer session time, or Camo Services for a specified finish. A hosted Multiplayer session is not an automatic DMZ extraction or Warzone camo completion service.
