Pit of Saron Boost Overview

The Pit of Saron is a dungeon introduced in Wrath of the Lich King as part of the Icecrown Citadel trio (with The Forge of Souls and Halls of Reflection), where players are captured by the Scourge while aiding Sylvanas Windrunner or Jaina Proudmoore and must escape from an underground slave mine. The dungeon features a frantic gauntlet-style opening where players use a siege vehicle to break through barricades while avoiding Scourge forces, leading to three bosses: the raging Scourgelord Garfrost, the forge-master Krick and his worm Ick, and the fallen crusader Scourgelord Tyrannus. A key element of the finale is Tyrannus mounting the dragon Rimefang for a two-phase battle, where players must use a dropped harpoon to pull the dragon down while surviving a brutal debuff that reduces healing by 90% — a mechanic that was particularly punishing for tanks and healers at launch.
