About Waking Nightmares
Types of Waking Nightmares
Waking Nightmares appear in three different formats.
- Prime Evil Waking Nightmares
These are multi-level, fixed-difficulty Capstone dungeons ending with Diablo, Baal, or Mephisto. They first appear during the Seasonal Questline and become replayable on Torment X+ difficulty. - Standard-Length Waking Nightmares
These occupy fixed locations around Sanctuary and recreate locations such as Diablo II’s Den of Evil. They function more like normal dungeons. - Open-World Waking Nightmares
These appear suddenly in the open world and contain a one-room boss fight or monster waves, such as Queen Araneae or dagger-wielding Flayers.
This product covers only the largest Prime Evil dungeons because they give you the best rewards and can be farmed consistently.
Choose Your Prime Evil Waking Nightmare
Diablo — Splinter of Terror
Descend beneath Tristram Cathedral through the Catacombs, Caves, and Hell before fighting Diablo. The Splinter of Terror periodically deals Fire damage and opens the reputation track whose War Plans upgrades modify Helltide and Infernal Hordes.
Baal — Splinter of Destruction
Fight through the recreated path to Arreat Summit and defeat Baal. The Splinter of Destruction periodically deals Cold damage and opens the reputation track whose upgrades modify the Undercity and Lair Bosses.
Mephisto — Splinter of Hatred
Enter the Durance of Hate and defeat Mephisto. The Splinter of Hatred periodically deals Physical damage and opens the reputation track whose upgrades modify the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons.
All three Prime Evil reputation tracks can modify the Tree of Whispers. Each Splinter also makes your character more vulnerable to its corresponding Prime Evil.
Splinters of Evil vs Soul Splinters
Splinters of Evil
Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto each provide one seasonal alignment item. Your active Splinter determines your Iconic Power, reputation track, War Plans upgrades, and associated activity modifiers. Your character can bear only one at a time.
Soul Splinters
Soul Splinters are separate Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique gems socketed into Jewelry. They provide a bonus and a liability, and your character can equip up to three. Socketable Soul Splinters are not part of the guaranteed result of this service.
Selfplay vs Piloted Waking Nightmares
Selfplay: You play on your own account and join the booster at the arranged time. The booster leads the dungeon and handles the final boss while you participate in the group.
Piloted: One assigned booster accesses your account and completes the selected dungeon for you. You do not need to play during the service; we’ll send progress updates and provide a live stream.
Waking Nightmare Rewards
The guaranteed result is the selected Prime Evil dungeon completion and its matching Splinter of Evil. Torment 10+ Pinnacle versions offer greater difficulty and more high-tier random loot.
What Counts as a Waking Nightmare Completion?
We complete one selected Waking Nightmare after clearing every required dungeon level and defeating its final Prime Evil echo.
