Which FFXIV Job Should You Gear First?
The best job to gear first is usually your main, especially if you already know you want to raid on it. But tanks and healers have one big advantage: they usually get much faster Duty Finder queues and have an easier time finding an open slot in Party Finder.
If you want to farm different FFXIV content without spending half the evening looking for a group, having a geared “blue DPS” or “green DPS” is useful. Tanks and healers are regularly needed for Savage, Ultimates, Extreme Trials, roulettes, and older content farms. They may not be your favorite jobs if you normally play melee or caster DPS, but gearing one gives you another way to get into groups when DPS slots are already full.

How does pentamelding work in FFXIV?
Pentamelding lets you put up to five Materia into compatible crafted gear such as the i770 Courtly Lover’s set. The first Materia slots are guaranteed, while extra overmelds have a chance to fail and destroy the Materia. We meld the set around the stats needed by your job instead of using the same setup for every class.
How long does a full FFXIV BiS set take?
A full BiS set usually takes 4–6 weeks if you start without current Savage or tomestone progress. The main limit is the weekly 450 Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics cap, plus the time needed for Grand Champion pieces from AAC Heavyweight Savage. Your current gear, books, and Mnemonics can shorten the order.
Can I order FFXIV gear for an alt job?
Yes. You can order gearing for any level 100 battle job. If several jobs share the same gear type, some pieces can also be used between them. For Savage coffers, we open them on the job that needs the specific Grand Champion piece.
Do my existing Mnemonics and Savage books reduce the boost time?
