FFXIV UWU Requirements and Unlock
- Account access – an active FFXIV subscription with access to Stormblood. Free Trial accounts cannot enter UWU.
- Level 70+ – at least one combat job, excluding limited jobs. If needed, use our FFXIV Jobs Leveling Boost.
- O8S completed – clear Sigmascape V4.0 (Savage). If you still need this clear, check our Omega Savage Raid Boost.
- UWU unlocked – after O8S, speak to the Wandering Minstrel in Kugane at X:11.6, Y:12.6 on a level 70+ combat job.
UWU syncs your character to level 70 and gear to item level 375. The duty lists no minimum item level. Support checks your equipment before the run.

The Weapon’s Refrain, also called UWU, is the second Ultimate raid, released in Stormblood Patch 4.31. You fight Garuda, Ifrit, Titan, Lahabrea, and the Ultima Weapon. Its defining mechanic is Awakening: the three primals must be awakened by handling specific mechanics before defeating them, providing the Beyond Limits buffs needed for the Limit Break sequence through Lahabrea and into Ultima.

Is UWU a Good First Ultimate in FFXIV?
UWU is a common first Ultimate, but its reputation does not prevent stalled prog. You can know the fight through Suppression and still join clear parties that wipe to Titan Gaols or never reach Ultima. Every wipe sends the group back to Garuda, and every disband means finding another party before you can practice your prog point.
Its DPS checks are more forgiving than at release, and established PF strats help players learn the fight. Titan Gaols, Awakening, Predation, Annihilation, and Suppression still need consistent execution. UWU is a reasonable starting point if you want to learn Ultimate raiding; if you mainly want the weapon and title, a piloted clear removes the need to spend your own sessions on PF prog.
Can UWU Be Cleared Unsynced?
No. The Weapon’s Refrain does not allow unrestricted parties. Every run syncs your character to level 70 and item level 375. Higher-level gear cannot remove these limits or give you access to abilities learned above level 70.
Higher damage can shorten some phases and skip certain repeated attacks, but the party must still handle the Awakening and Limit Break requirements. Mechanics such as Titan Gaols and Ultimate Suppression also remain part of the clear. LepreStore’s static follows the same sync rules when completing UWU on your character.
UWU vs UCoB vs TEA: Which Ultimate Should You Choose?
For your first Ultimate prog, compare the mechanics you want to learn. For a purchased clear, start with the weapon appearance and title you want. Each raid awards its own totem, which cannot be exchanged for weapons from another Ultimate.
