M9S – Vamp Fatale
Most groups treat this as the tier’s warm-up, and the community mostly agrees, the AoEs are big and easy to read once you know the timing. Where players do get caught out is the Satisfied stack buildup, not any single mechanic but the slow creep of bigger hits if the party keeps eating avoidable damage. Clear parties rarely name this fight as the wall.
M10S – The Xtremes
This is the fight raiders keep calling out as the best-designed of the tier. The solo opening against Red Hot and Deep Blue gets some complaints for feeling slow, but once the pair combine, the surf-themed mechanics get real praise for how well they translate into FFXIV’s usual AoE language. It’s the encounter players are least likely to complain about once they’re through it.
M11S – The Tyrant
This is where progression actually stalls for most Party Finder groups. Players consistently point to the arena split as where the real fight starts, everything before it gets called filler, with some raiders describing entire minutes of repeated mechanics before anything new happens. The weapon-toss mechanic in particular gets singled out as deceptively simple on paper and a wall in practice, tripping up a large share of prog parties who fought their way through M9S and M10S without much trouble.
M12S – Lindwurm
Reactions here are more split than any other fight in the tier. The mechanics themselves get credit for being some of the most interesting design in Heavyweight Savage, but a fair number of players feel the presentation is unfinished, a silent boss, an abrupt phase change, and a second phase some call rushed compared to previous expansions’ final encounters. Difficulty-wise, it’s still the real coordination and DPS check of the tier, and it’s usually where a carry saves the most time versus a Party Finder group.
