What Changed for Palace of the Dead in Patch 7.5?

Patch 7.5 changed how KOs work in Palace of the Dead. Before Floor 100, a KO no longer adds to the save’s KO count, so an early wipe does not automatically ruin the save for a later Necromancer attempt.

From Floor 101 onward, the old rule still applies. If you are KO’d or abandon the duty on Floors 101–200, that save becomes inaccessible. Many older Necromancer guides still describe any wipe during Floors 1–200 as a full restart, which is no longer accurate after Patch 7.5.

Why Is Palace of the Dead 1–200 Solo Difficult?

The hardest part of a Necromancer run is how much progress one mistake can cost. Palace of the Dead has random layouts, traps, floor effects and limited Pomanders, so you need to manage both time and resources across the full 1–200 climb. After Floor 100, a failed run makes the current save unusable, which means starting the solo climb from Floor 1 again.

Floors Main Difficulty
1–100 Building resources, Aetherpool and Pomanders for the second half
101–150 KO protection is gone, and a failed run means starting again from Floor 1
151–180 Harder enemies start draining more resources, and the Floor 180 Behemoth is one of the first major walls where many solo attempts can end
181–190 One of the hardest floor sets, with little room for mistakes while saving Pomanders for the end
191–200 Final time and resource check, with only 60 minutes to complete the entire floor set

This is why a late wipe costs much more than the fight where it happened. Losing a run on Floor 190 can mean repeating almost the entire solo climb.

Do You Have to Clear All 200 PotD Floors in One Session?

No. Palace of the Dead saves your progress after every 10-floor set, so the 1–200 solo run can be completed across multiple sessions. The Necromancer achievement still requires the same solo save to start from Floor 1 and reach Floor 200.

Extra Rewards From Palace of the Dead Floors 1–200

Palace of the Dead can also contain hidden Accursed Hoards. These are not guaranteed on every floor and normally need a Pomander of Intuition to reveal their location. Any sacks found during the Necromancer run stay on your account and can be appraised at the Expedition Bishop in Quarrymill.

Floors Sack Notable Rewards
1–50 Bronze-trimmed Sack Samsonian Locks, glamour and other appraisal loot
51–100 Iron-trimmed Sack Glamour, materia and other PotD rewards
101–150 Silver-trimmed Sack General-purpose dyes, Abigail Barding, Stuffed Edda and replica High Allagan gear
151–200 Gold-trimmed Sack Night Pegasus Whistle, Wind-up Edda, Abigail Barding, Samsonian Locks and rare weapon glamour

The biggest jackpot is the Night Pegasus Whistle from a Gold-trimmed Sack, which unlocks the Black Pegasus mount. Gold-trimmed Sacks can only come from Accursed Hoards found on Floors 151–200.

About the Kinna Weapons

After Floor 50, you can exchange 10 Aetherpool Arm and 10 Aetherpool Armor for one Aetherpool Grip. Three Grips are needed for a Padjali Weapon. After clearing Floor 100, the Padjali Weapon and six more Grips can be exchanged for a Kinna Weapon.

Each Grip lowers both Aetherpool Arm and Armor by 10, so getting Kinna before the Necromancer clear can leave your Aetherpool too low for the run. If you need both rewards, add the Kinna Weapon option and we will include it in the order.
